Creedin chuckled darkly. “No, but he’ll come. They’ll come for you.”

Her insides twisted. She knew it was true. If they found a way to get to her, they would. Darren would go to the ends of the earth to save her. She would do the same for him.

Creedin gave her one final grin. “Now all we have to do is wait.”

ChapterTwenty-One

The complex was a flurry of activity. While Nova was a priority, several things needed their focus before her rescue could merit their full attention. Gideon continued to calmly give orders. As Alpha it was imperative he keep cool under such intensely stressful and chaotic situations. Darren delegated to his second in command, Aiden. Though Aiden was a quiet and more reserved member of the group, he had proven his skills and loyalty to the pack many times. He’d also saved Darren’s ass more times than Darren could count. With the cleanup underway, medical attention being given to those who needed it, and a new security team in place around the complex’s entry, Gideon was able to call a meeting in the conference room. Their meeting consisted of Gideon, Aria, Lance, Darren, Leah, Aaron, and Peyton.

Aria sat quietly at the end of the table, holding tightly to her splinted arm. Lance gave her a gentle touch.

“How are you feeling?” His toffee eyes were full of concern and kindness.

“I’m fine. Is Laurie okay?”

“Yes. She’s at home with the boys.” Aria often forgot that Lance was the father of two small children. No wonder he fought so ferociously.

Gideon observed each of his pack members. “All right. We need to locate Nova and return her to the complex.” Darren opened his mouth to speak but Gideon held up a hand. “I understand the time restraints you all are feeling. We obviously want to get her back as quickly as possible but we need to be smart about this.” The room remained quiet. “Peyton, I need you watching the cameras around the city. Searching for face recognition may be our best place to start.” Peyton’s tattooed brow pulled together with tension. “Without any idea where they could take her, we really have nothing to start with.”

Darren turned to Aria. “Is there anything you saw when they took you? Please try to remember.”

Aria swallowed hard. “No. I don’t remember anything.”

Gideon walked over and placed a hand on Aria’s shoulder, giving it a squeeze.

“Why did they even take her?” It was Romani who spoke up. “If they were after Nova, why did they take Aria? They could have just as easily grabbed Nova at the same time.” A low growl resounded from Darren’s chest as he glared at the Veil Walker. Romani rolled his eyes. “Jesus, Ridgewell, you know what I mean. I would rather they hadn’t taken anyone.”

“He’s right,” Lance said helpfully. “It doesn’t make any sense.”

Gideon looked imploringly down at his sister. “Aria, are you sure there’s nothing you want to tell us?”

The doors to the conference room slid open and Brona entered, accompanied by Lucas. Brona’s vivid red hair flowed behind her as she walked.

“Brona.” Gideon gave her a nod. “How is your grandmother?”

Brona’s face looked tight and dark circles colored her pale skin. “She’s alive. She will need special care for a while.”

“Any resources we have are at your disposal. We are grateful for the help you and your grandmother have provided.”

“Thank you, Alpha.”

Lucas took a step forward, his green eyes glittering. “Brona thinks she can help us.”

“To find Nova?” Darren crossed the room to where the Chosen witch was standing.

“Yes. But I need help. I need to bring someone here from my coven.”

Gideon nodded. “You have my permission.”

“Thank you, Alpha.” Her turquoise eyes scanned the room until they found Romani. “I need your assistance, to bring our guest here as quickly as possible.”

Romani stepped forward. “Let us leave now.”

“Come with me and I’ll explain everything.” Brona and Romani headed toward the exit. She spun and addressed the room. “I’ll be back as soon as I can.” And with that they left.

“I need to get back downstairs,” Lucas said, also on his way out. “Let me know if you need me for anything, Alpha.”

“Thank you, Lucas.” The blond Aussie said to Darren before leaving, “Don’t worry, we’ll get her back, mate.”
