Cheers erupted around the room. “That’s great news.” Gideon rose from his seat to clap Bjorn on the shoulder.

Brona and Bjorn remained silent for a few moments more. Darren once again felt they were communicating silently somehow. “What’s wrong?” he asked.

“There’s someone else there. Possibly another Celestial.”

Leah rose to her feet. “Another kidnapped girl?”

Bjorn shook his head. “A male.”

Darren heard Aria release a slight gasp. Bjorn looked back at Brona as if he were carefully considering how much to say.

“He could see me.”

“What?” Darren admonished. “You said you were invisible, like a ghost.”

“Yes. I’ll admit this has never happened before.” Brona took his hand. “Regardless, we know where she is. I think we could project an image of the location into Romani’s mind. Then you could transport the lycans in.”

Romani stepped forward. “Sounds like a plan.”

Bjorn turned to Gideon. “I don’t know who this strange new man is, but be careful.”

“We will be ready for new enemies,” Gideon affirmed.

Brona and Bjorn exchanged another of their looks. Brona spoke softly, “We’re not exactly sure he is the enemy.” The twins continued staring at each other.

Aria stood from the table. “What do you mean?”

Brona shook her head. “I can’t explain it. Just be careful. And bring Nova back.”

“All right,” said Gideon. “I want Lucas, Darren, Lance, and Leah with me. Bjorn, if you feel comfortable, I would like you to come as well since you know the layout.”

Bjorn stepped toward the group. “Of course.”

Gideon said to the remaining women, “Brona, Aria, I want you to stay here with Aaron.”

“No!” Aria protested. “I’m coming with you!”

“Absolutely not.” Gideon’s voice was gentle but firm. “You’ve been through a lot today. I won’t risk losing you again.”

“But—”

“That’s an order, Aria.”

Hurt flashed across her eyes. Without another word she turned and stormed out of the room.

“Aaron,” Gideon commanded, “please keep an eye on her.”

“Will do, Alpha.” Aaron quickly took his leave, following Aria out of the conference room.

“Brona, stay close to Peyton.”

Peyton gave Brona a warm smile. “No worries, G. I’ll take care of our witchy friend here.”

“Very good. Now let’s grab some gear and get ready to infiltrate.” He took another deep inhale. “I’m not sure what to expect. Be ready for anything.”

“Yes, Alpha,” they responded in unison.

Darren’s heart shook. This was it, he was going to do whatever it took to get Nova back. He only prayed to the moon they would get there in time.
