“He’s mine, Rogue. When this is done…”

“Hey, we’ve managed to adopt the fucking sheriff into the family. I think we can deal with Mr. Smith.”

Hatchet thought about it. The Wyverns were his family, even if they were a dysfunctional bunch. Smithhad brought them together, but he didn’t create the glue that kept them that way. “Yeah. I just need to dig out a few more of his secrets.”

“He’s let you in further than I ever thought he would,” Rogue observed. “You’ve cracked the armor. Just keep banging away at him.”

“I can’t believe you just said that.” Hatchet snorted with laughter. “Though he is a fucking fine lay.”

“TMI, my friend, TMI.”Rogue got to his feet. He patted Hatchet’s shoulder. “Things will work out, one way or another. Now, I need to go deal with Orlando before we leave. If the brat thinks he can get away with manipulating plans behind my back, he’s wrong.”

Hatchet grinned. “Thought you were going soft for a minute there. My faith in the world’s equilibrium is restored.”

Rogue gave him the finger and walked away.Hatchet leaned back against the couch cushions and closed his eyes. He needed to go over the plan a few more times in his head. With Smith involved he needed to think of every eventuality and have at least some semblance of a response ready. The sooner Smith was safely tied to Hatch’s bed, the better.
