“No.” Chelsea said it like her word was law.
While Teresa absolutely got where her friend was coming from, these people were dangerous, and she’d feel the same way if it were Micah offering to go in and make contact with them, this plan might actually work. If Josiah could get a meeting set up with Desiree Tilly, they could bring the woman into custody, cut off the head of the snake, and end this once and for all.
“Yes,” Josiah said simply.
“It might work,” Raven said thoughtfully. “We can probably pull a few strings and set up some fake appointments with specialists for you.”
“It won't work,” Chelsea said, her voice sure and confident. “There is no way anyone would buy that a man like Josiah, who put his life on the line for his country, would go to a black-market organ trafficking ring to buy an organ to save his own life. But …”
“But what?” Josiah snapped.
“They might buy that that he would do it for someone else. Someone he cared about,” Chelsea continued, her gaze roaming the room, meeting all of theirs one by one. “If Josiah and I pretended to be in love, if we convince them that I’m the one who’s dying and he’s willing to do anything, even something illegal, to save me, they might buy that.”
