This man. This fucking man.
I snort and laugh loudly at the sheer corniness before sending him a gif of a girl smacking her head with her hand.
Charming: I know you laughed
Me: Oh? And how would you know that?
His response is two taps on the wall. My heart catches in my throat. Holy shit, the walls arethatthin?
Charming: Yep so keep that in mind when you are entertaining your gentleman callers.
Me: UNLIKE SOME I don’t have callers.
Charming: There you go again, calling me a whore…
I chuckle as I snuggle deeper into my bed causing the headboard to hit the wall.
Charming: Oh? Am I interrupting something already?
Me: Shut up! I moved. Jesus. Why are you home texting me? Have you gone through every woman in the city?
Charming: state actually, I’m cycling back through.
Me: Good night.
Charming: Wait!
Charming: What are you wearing?
I smack the wall with my hand, and I hear a very faint muffled laugh from his side.
Charming: Sweet dreams, Sunshine.
Me: Good night, Charming.
I set my phone on the charger before curling into the blanket and closing my eyes. I don’t know what it is but knowing that Ash is right there on the other side of this wall makes me feel so much better, safer.
My eyes shoot open.Safer?Since when did I need anyone to make me feel safer? I stare at my charging phone and groan. This is not going to end well.
Chapter6
Ash
“Ash,” Indy groans as she and I walk toward the back of the shop.
“You are dead to me, Indiana.” I grumble, my mood as dark as the gloomy looking skies above. How dare she? How dare Indy do this to me?
“You are such a massive baby!” She stomps while shoving past me.
“It’s bad enough that you had Janie force me to let you work here, but then you told mom I had a girlfriend for her wedding?A GIRLFRIEND?” Indy gives me her sweetest smile, no effect. Dead. She is dead.
“Listen, mom was crying because she’s afraid you’re going to bring a one-night stand or sit there alone, and I think Shannon is coming and she didn’t want it to be a big thing!” I shift uncomfortably at the mention of Shannon. There had been mention that since she was dating my cousin, Shannon would be attending the wedding. I had hoped that she would get hit by a bus or a pack of wild hyenas would rip her apart before the wedding. Apparently, no such luck. “Mom doesn’t deserve to be sad on her wedding day! Come on, just ask one of the girls to go.” She opens the shop door, and we walk into the back room of Hel’s Ink.
“Yeah, Indiana, as we have been over before, there is one problem with your genius plan. Mom has been here. She now knows Janie and Ren, and they all went toNuts About Doughand she met Stevie there.”
“What about Sunday?” she suggests, and I tense. Glancing down, I inwardly groan as I watch a sly smirk creep onto her heart-shaped face. “Gotcha there, didn’t I?”
“Sunday hates me.” Indy rolls her eyes as she walks down the hall and into the tattoo area.
