When he opened the door to his office, the sweetness ultimately assaulted his nostrils, and he found it hard to keep his appendage at half-mast. The thing seemed to want to take on a mind of its own the minute he caught the woman in his senses. And this proved to be something he wasn’t used to in a long while. Frankly, he thought the thing was broken because no one seemed to catch its attention, not after Joy sucked the life out of him in the most literal of senses.

That’s the last time I date a vampire! That’s for sure!

He found it strange that a creature so goth would call herself Joy. It seemed a little oxymoronic to do so. She at first seemed genuine, and perhaps that’s part of the undead charm, but all she wanted was a Sugar Daddy, and Camden had no need for any woman to be like that with him. He had worked too hard for his title, money, and life status, and he refused to let a fickle vampire take any of that away from him.

Camden peered at the resume in front of him while Cassidy shifted in her seat as he walked by. A waft of her sex came over him. He was glad he made it to his seat quickly because his dick, now at full attention and practically bursting through the zipper of his pants, proved quite the show with its working condition with her. Heat rushed to his cheeks, and he didn’t dare try to gaze upon her. No woman had made him this flustered in a long while, and he wasn’t about to show this one, a complete stranger, just how much of a hold she had over him.

You’re hiring her as help for FUCK’S SAKE! Pull yourself together, Camden!

He sucked in a breath as he sprawled his papers onto his desk. He’d had every intention of grilling Cassidy about the position she applied for. Even though she had come highly recommended by Cheryl herself, he still wanted to be sure.

I’d like to get Cassidy into a horizontal position.

He said to himself as he dared to glance at her legs that seemed to go on for miles. So shapely and toned, they gave his nether regions a workout in and of themselves as thoughts of those beautiful legs wrapped around his waist entered his mind. But now that he had barely handled the past 2 minutes with her in the room, Camden knew he would have to cut this interview short or risk ripping her clothes off right here and now.

* * *

The most sensible thing would be to hire her and get her out of his office. Which he did, but he also invited her to dinner. Why did he have to think with his dick with this one? Camden stared at her as she sat with Cheryl, going through the paperwork.

Damn it! Why was I stupid enough to invite her out? I know I want her, but I can’t open myself up again to another heartache, not after Joy sucked everything good out of me.

He raked his fingers through his hair.

She is gorgeous, though. I’ll give her that.

He shuffled the papers around on his desk, trying to focus on the construction plans in front of him. According to the proposal, he could have a new facility in Portland, Oregon, just under the proposed budget he was looking for. The facility would house all the products and ship to anywhere in the US, something he was looking forward to. Sure, he enjoyed the stock market, but his passion was in manufacturing. His father did it, and his father before him, so it was only natural that he got the bug for it, too.

The thing was, he really wanted to be different, especially from any of his ancestors before him. Camden’s dream was to get into the tech world and become one of the major players, and this facility would help him start that dream. But the problem was that he found it hard to crunch any numbers because his head was more focused on Cassidy than anything else.

Camden shifted in his seat, uncomfortable from the growing bulge in his pants. He was glad he installed the private bathroom in his office with a full-size shower. He would need a cold one before the day was through, especially since he’d be having dinner with Cassidy.

God! If this is what it does after just 15 minutes with her, what will I do when 4 PM rolls around?

He sighed and revved up his desktop to look at the financial reports coming in for the day’s trading so far. The market seemed to do reasonably well today, which would please his investors. He just hoped he could focus on the analysis long enough to sound halfway intelligent when he spoke to the heavier hitters in an hour. He shook his head, trying to rid himself of the X-rated thoughts going through him that all seemed to star Cassidy. When he finally could focus, he hunkered down on the reports in front of him.

Chapter Four

Camden finished his afternoon with phone calls in between, staring at Cassidy through the glass panes of his office. It was now 2:30 and too late for a cold shower. He needed to have everything wrapped up to prepare for that early dinner with Cassidy. He clicked the button for the intercom.

“Cheryl, are you guys almost done? I want to beat traffic so we can make our early dinner res.”

He noticed the two of them scrambling once his voice came on the intercom, and he smiled a little at their flustered statures. If only he could be a fly on that desk of theirs! Sure, he could use his preternatural hearing and eavesdrop, but that wasn’t his style. Besides, it didn’t take a genius to figure out they were talking about him.

“Yes, Mr. Connel, we wrapped up. Shall I send Cassidy in?”

“So formal? Cheryl! You know me better than that! Teach Cassidy right. We all go by first names here.” He said in a half-teasing tone. He actually wanted to go by first names, but many of his staff members, including Cheryl, always addressed him as Mr. Connel or Sir. “And please send her in! I only need to grab my coat. Can you call to have them pull the car upfront, please?”

“Sure thing, Mr.—eh—Camden!”

There were loud giggles before the intercom went dead. Camden wasn’t sure if the giggling came from his comments or their previous conversation about him. Either way, a broad smile formed on his lips at the idea of the two of them acting like giddy school girls. He took it as a sign that Cassidy liked him as much as he wanted her.

Within a brief minute, she was walking through his door, and heat rushed to his lower extremity the minute he locked eyes with her. She gave him a nervous smile, something that she was probably doing given the circumstances. But he didn’t want her to be anxious for two reasons. One, her pheromones heightened because of her nerves. The scent alone made him want to push her against the wall of his office and kiss her from head to toe. He needed to drink in her scent by tasting her entire being. Two, he really didn’t want her to be uncomfortable around him, ever. There was no need, especially when he was thinking the thoughts he was about her.

I want her! I need her to be mine!

He caught himself nodding to his own thoughts. And that wasn’t any good.

“So, are you ready?” He asked, trying to cover up the ridiculous bobbing of his head to nothing.
