He glares at me. “I think I have a solution to cut the tension between us,”

I snap my head towards him. “If it involves me punching you, maybe I can get on board.”

“No,” Jayden begins.

“Well, spit it out, we don’t have–”

“I think we should fuck.”

I choke on air. What the hell did he just say? Please tell me he didn’t hear me this morning. I will die of embarrassment. “Absolutely not.”

Jayden flicks his gaze to me, but I’m not having any of it. “Eyes on the road,”

“Why not? I don’t have to like you to want to fuck you.”

Jayden pulls into the driveway of our house–I mean, ourshared house.

“No, that’s ridiculous. I’m not even attracted to you.”

Lies. Lies. Lies.

Curse my vagina. She needs to shut up because it ends in disaster when I think with her instead of my head.

Jayden scoffs. “Is that so? I bet one touch from me and your cunt would be dripping,”

I suck in a breath. Jayden’s dirty words hit exactly where he wants them to. It takes all my self-control not to rub my thighs together. I will not give him the satisfaction of knowing I’m one: attracted to him and two: turned on right this minute.

“It’s not happening,” I say, getting out of the car and sprinting inside the house.

Operation Avoid Jayden is in full swing after this conversation. Otherwise, who knows what sinful path I will seek?

Chapter 14

Willow Rogers

“Willow, please,” Aiden begs, pressing his palms together.

I roll my eyes. “I’m not coming, so you can stop begging. I need to catch up on assessments and it would be nice to have a break from all of your antics.”

Aiden’s hand crosses his heart, mock hurt appearing on his face. “What are you talking about? I’m the nicest person here,”

A small smile tugs on my lips as I shake my head. “You guys go have fun. After the last party, I need a break from alcohol.”

All the boys deflate, letting out mumbled “fines” before finishing their drinks. Julian, one of the Lakewood Devil’s football players, is hosting a Halloween party since they have a bye.

Julian even agreed to host it because we played away games for the past two days.

Another reason I don’t want to go out is because today is Sunday and I have classes tomorrow that I can’t miss from a hangover that could have been prevented. Fortunately for me, I’m also seeing this as my opportunity to indulge in some self-care. But the boys don’t need to know that.

The past week has been hectic as we travelled to Colorado to play our sixth and seventh game of the season. The first game was a tough loss, withmanyquestionable referee and linesman calls. In our second game against them on Saturday, we won three to nil.

Toby, our goalie, has been on fire recently. I can’t believe he doesn’t want to go pro because I’m confident every NHL team would love to have someone like him on their side.

Eventually, the boys pile out of the house, hopping into either Jayden or Jazmine’s car. She also tried to convince me to come out tonight, but I said no. I feel like a shit friend, but when I told Jaz I needed some alone time, she was understanding.

I wave to the boys–many of them already tipsy–as the cars leave the driveway. Once they are out of my vision, I don’t waste any time. I sprint up the stairs and into my bedroom. Shutting my door, I walk to the edge of my bed and slide the cupboard box filled with vibrators out from under my bed.

It’s been too long since I had an orgasm—by another person or myself.
