“The choices are absolute.”
“For most, yes. But given who his parents are, there might be wiggle room.”
“True, but I doubt they’ll show favorites.”
“It’s important that we don’t lose faith ourselves, sis.”
“I know.”
The two worked side by side, just as they had before Maria married and Blix opened upWishes Bakery.
It had been a happy accident when Blix had stumbled upon the special mixture of elf magic and spices that led to wishes being granted and views being changed. No one knew her exact recipe and no one ever would.
It only took a small dose to make those changes in someone’s outlook happen.
She tripled it in Rand’s cookies.
She wasn’t going to tell anyone else that, though. Mainly because she wasn’t sure what kind of effect it was going to have on him.
“Are you going to be okay, Blix?” Maria paused in her task to pin Blix with a look.
“Would you believe me if I said I just want him to find his happiness?”
“Yes, but is that all?”
“Well, no. I mean, I’d like him to come back. I’d like to have a chance to tell him how I feel.”
“Did he have any idea?”
“No, I don’t think so. I don’t think he really ever saw me as more than a friend.”
“Well, you know what they say… It’s the season of miracles.”
