“I agree. I heard he’s got a massive dick. The girl from wardrobe in the last play he did? Said she had to adjust his trousers for him, make some sort of pouch to put it in.” Beth, Ava’s other friend, measured out a good twelve inches with her hands. I knew that wasn’t true, having seen his dick earlier today, but it wasn’t far wrong.

“No fucking way!” Meredith exclaimed, her eyes widening at Beth’s words. “Imagine riding that. It’d hit all the right places. I reckon he knows how to use it.”

He might well know how to, but the more Beth and Meredith discussed exactly what they’d do with Xavier’s dick, the more annoyed I got. Why the fuck was Ava sitting over there? She’d come out with us.

That was it. I was done. I was going home, pizza be fucked. I couldn’t stand to hear another word about him and his monster cock and stood unsteadily, ready to go home.

“Tell Ava I’m going home.” I chucked a tenner on the table to pay for my part of the bill and turned to leave. I needed to pee first, though.

The notion that I’d drunk more than I thought hit me as I lurched to the men’s room, falling into a vacant stall and locking the door. I knew I should have eaten before I left the house, but stupid me hadn’t expected the extra friends or the bottles of wine. I peed, one hand on my dick, the other propping myself up on the wall next to me. As early as it was, I should be home and in bed.

I was half expecting Xavier to be waiting for me as I left the stall and was slightly disappointed to find myself alone. As I washed my hands, I looked in the mirror. My eyes were bloodshot, and I still hadn’t shaved that damn scruff from my face. I looked like a younger version of my father, and if that didn’t make me feel old and unwanted, I didn’t know what would. I looked like shit.

“Ben? Where the fuck do you think you’re going?” Ava asked as I made my way to the front door. Subtlety was not her strong point.

“I’m going home.” She was back at our table now, and as I glanced over to where Xavier and his friends had been sitting, it was empty. “I’m not feeling too good, and I just want my bed.”

“Aw, don’t be a spoilsport! We only just got here, and we haven’t eaten yet. At least stay for the food.”

“I’m tired, Ava,” I protested but walked towards the table anyway. Hunger was the reason I was feeling ill. I’d not eaten since lunch.

“Please, Ben. Just sit and eat, will you?”

Planting myself in the chair I’d vacated earlier, I picked up a piece of pizza, moaning in pleasure as the flavours hit me. I hadn’t realised just how hungry I was and ate piece after piece until the plate was clear.

“Better now?” Ava asked as I wiped my mouth on the napkin. I nodded, feeling a little more sober and a lot less nauseous.

“Xavier asked about you,” she said, poking me with the straw from her drink. “Wanted to know where you’d gone.”

I shrugged. It meant nothing, and I said as much to Ava.

“Could mean something, though.” Meredith and Beth looked at each other, clearly not knowing what we were talking about. “I reckon he likes you.”

“We get on OK.” How could I tell her what had happened over the past week? How I’d watched him, how he’d let me watch him. If the other girls hadn’t been there, I might well have confessed my sins, and it was a sin. Lust was a sin, and I lusted over that man to the point I dreamt about him almost every night. Dreamt about how he’d taste, what he’d let me do.

“I’d say more than OK if the look on your face is anything to go by.”

And that was my cue to leave. I couldn’t talk about it, not now anyway.

I stood, throwing another fiver on the table. “That should just about cover everything. I’m going home, girls. I’ve had enough. You enjoy the rest of your evening.”

“Xavier and his friends are joining us at the bar. Why won’t you come?”

“I’m too old for this shit, Ava, and I’m going home.”

She stood, hugging me tightly before letting me go. “I’ll call you in the week.”

By the time I got home, it was shortly after nine and I was definitely ready for my bed. A coffee would be good. I no longer felt drunk despite Ava’s best efforts, but it’d finish the night.

A light in the kitchen had me wondering if I had a burglar, but I soon recognised Xavier’s back.

“I thought you were out singing. Ava said you were joining them at the karaoke bar.”

“I was going to but decided on an early night instead. Seems I made the right choice.” He waggled my favourite coffee mug in my direction, and I nodded.

He knew what I wanted.
