“Well, if it isn’t the fucking queer boy.” Dom looked over at Jacob and saw his face fall, the laughter in his eyes disappearing to be replaced by cold, hard anger.

“Mr Wilkins. I don’t think that’s an appropriate comment. After all, I am your son’s teacher.”

Dom looked up at the guy and was met with a look of hate and disgust.

“Oh, and he’s with his fucking boyfriend. Or should I say girlfriend, wearing all that make-up?”

Dom wouldn’t have minded the comment if he was, in fact, wearing ‘all that make-up’, but he’d toned it down. He thought about standing up to the guy ruining their meal, but he was an easy six foot and at 5'4", Dom would have come up to his chest, if that.

So, Dom did what he did best and used his words, not his fists.

“Do you know what homophobia is?” Dom looked up at this neanderthal and spoke slowly to him. “I don’t have the time or the crayons to explain it to you, so take your stupid fucking comments and go back to the bunch of dickheads you call friends and leave us alone.” He turned away from him and looked back at Jacob, who was watching him with a look of amusement on his face.

“Perhaps you should run along, Mr Wilkins.” Jacob said, not even bothering to look at him.

The guy muttered something under his breath as he walked away, but they were too engrossed in each other to hear what he said.

“What a piece of shit. Are you ok? Do you want to leave?” Dom asked Jacob.

Jacob shook his head. “There’s no fucking way I’m letting him have the satisfaction of chasing me away. We’re going to sit here and continue to enjoy this.” He nodded over at the door. “Looks like he’s heading out anyway.”

As Dom looked over at the door, he saw the arsehole give a rude gesture before leaving the restaurant with the group that had been making trouble earlier. Jacob visibly relaxed, and Dom reached across the table to take his hand.

“Thank you for what you said.” Jacob squeezed his hand. “I was about to lose my cool with him, and unfortunately, that could have cost me my job.”

“I hope I didn’t create a problem for you. At school.” Dom worried, hoping he hadn’t made this difficult for him.

“I’ll go and see Jodie on Monday. Give her the heads up on what happened, but I’m sure it’ll be fine. Now, where were we?” Jacob ran his foot up Dom’s leg. So that’s how it was going to be.

“I believe you asked me to help out with a little problem you had. Although, if my mind serves me correctly, not so little.” Dom licked his bottom lip, his insinuation clear.

“I could say the same about you. It might have been my first blow job, but it’s the best one I’ve ever had.” Dom went to move his hand away, but Jacob held tight. “No, don’t let go. I need…this, just a while longer. Please.”

Dom could see that Jacob was still a little rattled from the encounter with his student’s parent, so he let him take what he needed. He stroked the back of Jacob’s hand with his thumb, and he could see the tension slip from his shoulders, his face settling into a smile. Dom liked that smile, so instead of letting go, he held on tighter. They ordered some more drinks, and for the remainder of their time at the restaurant, they held hands, not talking about what had happened to either one of them in the past.

Dom realised it didn’t matter anymore. What was done was done. What mattered now was where they went next, what they did next. And strangely, Dom was more than happy with that notion. He was sure now he wanted to see what they could have. His previous decision not to get involved was forgotten. He wanted to take it slowly, though, not rush headlong into a serious relationship. He hoped that Jacob would understand that.

His first priority would always be his brother, but he supposed his happiness was important too and maybe, just maybe, that happiness was to be found with Jacob.

Chapter Fourteen

Jacob

Jacob couldn’t believe it when that dickhead walked over and threatened to ruin their evening. Anger had burned in his chest, and he’d been about to make a huge mistake that could have cost him his job.

Fortunately, Dom had stepped in and had put him in his place. He could have kissed him. Not while Noah’s dad was standing there, though. He didn’t want to add more fuel to the fire. Hewasgoing to speak to Jodie on Monday, though. He needed to report the incident so it didn’t come back to bite him on the arse at a later date.

After Wilkins had gone, Dom seemed to realise that he needed comfort, that his nerves were still rattled, and he needed calming. They’d chatted about Jacob’s job, Dom told him some ridiculous stories from when he was off dancing around the world. They didn’t talk about the past, and it was almost as if Dom didn’t care anymore. He held his hand, and even when he’d excused himself to go to the men’s room, Dom had taken his hand again when he returned. He loved it. It was almost like he didn’t have to think because there was someone there to care for him. He hadn’t had that for a long time.

As their time drew to an end, he didn’t know what to do next. Abby was staying the night with Lindsay and Colin. Lindsay had jumped at the chance to have her overnight when she knew he was going out with Dom. While he would have liked nothing more than to take Dom back to the house and have him fuck his brains out, he didn’t think either of them was ready for that yet.

Well, he might have been OK with it, but he got the impression that Dom wasn’t. Not yet anyway.

The waitress brought over the bill, and they both reached for it. Jacob got there first.

“My treat. I asked you out, so I should pay.”

“We should go Dutch. It’s not a date, Jacob.” Dom glared at him and put his card on the tray. “Let’s go halves.”
