Before Joe could say anything else, Jana sat next to Seb and started fussing, asking him how he was feeling and whether he needed anything. Joe left them to it and went to the kitchen.

It was just five thirty, so Joe started the evening meal. An hour or so later, they were sat around the dining table, tucking into a pasta bake with garlic bread. They chatted comfortably whilst they ate, Seb’s parents saying that they would be leaving early in the morning and asking if Seb would be OK.

Joe assured them that he had time off work and would take excellent care of Seb. There was no need to worry. He covered Seb’s hand with his own and gave it a gentle squeeze. Seb smiled at him, but he could see that he was tiring even after having slept a good portion of the day.

“Come on, Seb. Let’s get you upstairs and settled in bed. You look tired.” He took hold of his hand and pulled him up out of his chair. Seb’s parents stood up to hug and kiss him, and Joe put his arm around Seb and helped him up the stairs and into the master bedroom.

“Do you need any help undressing, or are you OK to do that?” He set Seb on the bed and bent in front of him, ready to remove his sock.

Seb looked at him, an eyebrow raised. “If I didn’t know better, Joe, I’d say you were trying to get me out of my clothes.” Seb grinned at him, a cheeky smile that Joe wanted to see more of.

“Mmm, sounds good to me, but I think your parents might not like it if I was to undress you and take you to my bed. Not only that, but you only came out of hospital today. I’m not going to take advantage of you, as much as I would like to.” Joe looked him in the eye, and Seb touched his face. They both leaned closer.

Their mouths met, and Joe kissed Seb gently, barely brushing his lips. He did it again, a ghost of a kiss, their breaths mingling. He didn’t want to rush anything, but he was desperate to show Seb how he really felt. He cupped Seb’s face in both of his hands and closed his eyes.

He kissed him again, pressing their lips together, a little firmer this time, and Seb nipped at his bottom lip, grinning as he did so. Joe smiled into the kiss, too, as Seb moved his hands to Joe’s arms, holding him steady. Seb licked his lip where he’d bitten him, and his hands moved to the nape of Joe’s neck, pulling him in closer.

Joe groaned, but then Seb pulled back and began to pepper Joe’s face and lips with small kisses before kissing him full on the mouth again, both of them breathless as they devoured each other. As eager as Joe was to continue this, he was aware that Seb’s parents were still downstairs and could come up at any moment.

He reluctantly pulled away and rested his forehead on Seb’s. Kissing him was like coming home, and he never wanted to stop feeling like this.

“Wow, I could do that all night, but if I don’t end it now, who knows where we’ll be? You need to rest, and I need to clean up downstairs and take Rocco for a quick walk. Do you need anything before I go?”

Seb pouted at him and got in bed. Joe pulled the covers up around him. “I’ll be fine, and if I need anything, I can ask Mom or Dad. Don’t be long though. I don’t want to fall asleep without you.”

“OK, but try and get some rest.” He bent over and kissed Seb again; his lips lingered, and he savoured the kiss. He hummed with contentment, licking his lips as he left the room, tasting Seb on his tongue.

He went downstairs to find that Jana and Levi had already cleaned up and put the dishwasher on, leaving him to walk Rocco.

As he walked along, matching the dog’s stride, Joe realised he hadn’t been this happy in a while. He had the man he loved in his house and a beautiful dog by his side. He didn’t want to dwell on how his life might have turned out if Seb hadn’t survived the accident or decided not to give Joe another chance. It didn’t bear thinking about.

They’d agreed that Seb would stay with him for about a week so he could get used to getting around with having both his arm and leg in plaster, but Joe found himself hoping Seb would never leave. His house had felt so empty since that weekend a month ago, and he really wanted Seb in his home and in his bed.

After about an hour, he walked back into his house, fed Rocco, and went upstairs to see Seb. He put his head around the door. Seb was fast asleep, his dark hair in contrast to the white bedding. His long eyelashes kissing his cheeks, his pink lips slightly parted as he breathed. He looked beautiful, and Joe couldn’t believe how lucky he was to have this man back in his life.

Chapter Forty

Seb

Seb’s parents had gone back home a few days ago, and it was just him and Joe in the house now. He wasn’t complaining, though, as they’d been filling their time lying together in bed, sharing kisses and touches and getting to know each other. They hadn’t taken it any further than that. Joe seemed reluctant to get more physical, and Seb was growing a little frustrated. He wasn’t made of glass!

He was also going a little stir-crazy if he was honest. Joe had helped him out into the garden to sit, and he was getting better on his single crutch, but he was just getting a bit bored. They were sitting out in the garden when Joe spoke up.

“How do you fancy getting out of the house for a while? We could take a drive or go somewhere for lunch. What do you say?”

“Yes, oh my God, yes,” Seb almost shouted with relief. “I’m so desperate to get out of the house. Not that I mind being here with you, but I’m going a bit mad.” Seb felt embarrassed that he seemed so eager.

Joe laughed at him. “You only needed to say, Seb. Anything to make you happy.” His smile spoke volumes, and Seb knew that this was the right thing. Joe was the right thing.

“Come here,” he said, and Joe moved towards him. Seb pulled him down to meet his lips. “I like being able to do this with you. This, right here, makes me happy.” He kissed him again, his hands running under Joe’s shirt. His firm muscles jumped beneath his hands, and Joe pulled away, laughing.

“Sorry, just a little ticklish.” Joe dipped his head. “Try again. I promise I won’t laugh this time.”

They kissed again, and Seb moved his hands beneath his shirt, but this time, he used a firmer touch. Joe moaned, and the sound shot straight to Seb’s cock.

“Fuck,” he murmured. “No rush to go out, is there? Take me back to bed, Joe. Please.”

Joe looked him in the eye. “Are you sure? I was trying not to rush you, but fuck if I don’t want you. It’s been hell keeping my hands off you.”
