The sex earlier with Seb had been amazing, and then to actually be out with him, holding his hand across the table, no restrictions. He loved it.

When they’d arrived home in the afternoon, Dom had called Seb, asking him what he was up to and could he come round and see him. Seb’d asked Joe a little reluctantly, saying he was aware it wasn’t his home, but did he mind if Dom came round.

Joe was determined to make Seb see that this could be his home too. He was eager for Seb to move in for real.

“Honestly, Seb. Whilst you’re here, treat it like your own home. Invite Hayden too if you want.” Joe had another thought and set his plan into motion.

It was Friday, and Joe decided to have an impromptu get-together. He invited his sister and her family, Hazel and her family, and his parents too. They all agreed to come around later, and when Joe told him who was coming as well, Seb panicked. Joe eased his nerves with a hasty make-out session on the sofa, which was interrupted by Dom’s arrival.

Joe let him in, and Dom gave him a knowing glance and bestowed the same on Seb when he saw their flushed faces and swollen lips.

“I see you lovebirds have made up then. About fucking time too. It took you nearly dying, Seb, for you to both get your heads out of your arses. Shame on the two of you.” He laughed as he walked into the kitchen, going to stroke Rocco as he lay in his bed.

“Did you invite Hayden, Seb? I wasn’t sure whether or not to mention it to him,” Dom asked.

“Yeah, he’s coming, and so are all of Joe’s family, so you’re going to have to be on your best behaviour. No swearing. There’ll be young children here,” Seb told him.

“Ah, fuck, shit, bastard, cock, dick, hole, fuck… ah, already said that.”

“What the hell are you doing?” Joe asked.

“I’m using all the words now, so I don’t swear in front of anyone. Wouldn’t want to upset the in-laws, eh, Seb?” Dom winked at him.

“Oh my God, kill me now. This has to be the worst idea you ever had, Joe.” Seb hobbled over to him in the kitchen and put his arm around his neck, dropping a kiss to the end of his nose.

“I’m going to be sick. I can’t stand this mushiness.” Dom moved into the lounge and collapsed onto the sofa. “Can I put the TV on, Joe?” Joe wasn’t sure why he even asked as he’d already turned it on and was sat eating a bowl of peanuts.

“You don’t know what you’ve let yourself in for, you know. He can be a fucking nightmare when he wants to be. At least Hayden coming might calm him down a little.” Seb had yet to remove his arms from Joe’s neck, but he wasn’t complaining. Joe was more than happy to stay here like this and thought that actually an evening in bed sounded infinitely more interesting than having his family over.

His parents had been badgering him to meet Seb, so today would be as good as any, and then, hopefully, they would leave them alone for a while.

“Come sit with me outside while I fire up the grill. You can help me prepare some food.” He hoisted him up, and Seb wrapped his legs around Joe’s waist, putting his groin just at the right height. Seb leaned in and kissed him, and Joe stood there getting lost in his kiss. He placed Seb’s arse on the work surface, his hands under his shirt as they got carried away again in each other.

“For fuck’s sake, you two. Do you think you can keep your lips off each other for five minutes? It’s not that hard, is it?”

Seb laughed against Joe’s lips. “If only he knew just how hard it is.”

Joe pulled away, smirking. “I could always help you out quickly before anyone arrives.”

“Mm, sounds good, but we should make an effort so we have some food to feed everyone with when they arrive.”

Joe laughed, picked Seb up again and carried him outside, placing him on a chair at the patio table. “Sit there and I’ll bring something out for you to do.” He dropped another kiss to his hair and walked back into the kitchen.

A while later, everyone had arrived and Joe was busy at the grill, cooking some steaks, burgers and sausages for the kids.

He stood for a while to look around. Dom and Hayden were laughing with Jayne and Hazel, and Seb was talking with Dave and Aidan. His mom was sitting with the kids, and his dad was sitting inside on the sofa with Rocco at his side. He’d obviously found a new friend.

He couldn’t have been more content, and as he looked over at Seb, who aimed a beautiful smile his way, Joe’s heart felt like it would burst with love. This was what he’d been missing. He felt complete, as if he was right where he was supposed to be. They both were.

His mom came over to him and leaned against his arm.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen you this happy, Joe, and it’s good to see. I can tell you love him, and the way he looks at you? He loves you too. Don’t let this one pass you by.”

“I won’t, Mom. He’s what I’ve been missing. I know it’s soon, but I’m going to ask him to move in with me, and I’m hoping he’ll say yes. I don’t want to be without him, ever. The thought that I could have lost him without ever knowing how good it could be? That scares me, Mom.”

“He’s been through so much, and you’ve been there for him. I don’t think he’ll say no to moving in with you.” His mother kissed him on his cheek.

The rest of the evening passed in a blur. Jayne and her family and his parents left shortly after ten, which still left Hazel and her crew and Dom and Hayden. Dom had decided that karaoke was a good idea and everyone joined in, including Joe, who gave—or so he thought—a cracking rendition of Rock Your Body by Justin Timberlake.
