“Do we have the buyer’s name?” she asked.
“Just a code name.” Dylan tapped the file. “Hollywood.”
She swallowed. “That could mean the buyer is in Hollywood or looks like a Hollywood type.”
“There are other files, categorizing the hostages, so we’ll need Fielding to get his team down there,” Logan said.
“Thanks.” She turned on her heels and marchedover to where Fielding stood, just a few feet from Ramos.
Fielding held up his hand. “Oh, no, you don’t.”
“Oh, yes, I do.” She took one step past Fielding before he grabbed her arm. “Let go of me,” she said in a dark tone behind gritted teeth.
“You’re not going near him.”
“I need to ask him about this.” She shoved the file at Fielding. “The girl I was hired to find is in that file. I need to know who the buyer is.”
Fielding stepped closer, encroaching on her personal space. “You’re a low-life PI, and you have no authority to talk with anyone at this crime scene, and unless you want me to slap a set of handcuffs on you—”
“You’ll do no such thing,” Nick’s voice boomed across the night sky. He stood between his two brothers, who helped him stand. “You’re going to give her five minutes to find out what she wants, and then we’re going to deliver that buyer to you on a silver platter, along with credit for this takedown.”
She wanted to slap Nick for jumping in when she was perfectly capable of handling this situation, only it felt too damn nice to know someone had her back. She knew he hadn’t stepped up because he didn’t think she could handle it.
No. She knew him well enough to understand he only jumped in because he knew something she didn’t.
“I’ll handle my own interrogation,” Fielding said, puffing out his chest.
“Don’t make me sic my boss on you again,” Dylansaid with a smile, holding up a military grade phone. “Shall I call him?”
Fielding narrowed his eyes. “Five minutes,” he said with a snarl.
Whatever Dylan did for the United States Army, it had to be damn important.
Leandra didn’t waste a second as she bolted toward Ramos.
“I’m going to fucking kill you.” He stood, but the guard pushed him back down.
Her heart pounded so fast it hurt. Staring into the eyes of a man she knew for sure would kill her, if given the chance, made her pause for a moment. She’d gotten herself in some pretty crazy-ass situations, but this by far had been the most dangerous.
“Who is Hollywood?”
“You think I’m going to tell you that?” Ramos laughed, leaning in. “Better watch your back, sweetheart, because I’m coming for you.”
She swallowed. “Where does Hollywood take the girls?”
Ramos shook his head. “You and your husband, or whoever the fuck he is, aren’t going to live to see daybreak, much less find out anything about Hollywood.”
Ramos was never going to tell her anything. She clenched her fist. “You’re a piece of shit.” She bent down, leaning so close to him she could feel his breath on her skin. She reached between his legs, gripping his testicles with all her might, and twisted.
He cried out like a cow being castrated.
“If anything happens to me, myhusbandis going to reach down your throat and grab your nuts.” She squeezed harder. “And pull them out through your mouth.”
She let go and spun around, making a beeline for Nick.
“Feel better?” Nick asked as she moved between him and one of his brothers, putting her arm around his waist and applying pressure to his wound again.
Nick groaned.
