The poor, innocent thing didn’t even know it yet. She didn’t know she’d been chosen. Her skin already carried the scent of my claim, and that ache between her legs was the beginning of her undoing. I watched her walk into my woods, her heart hammering, her breath catching on the weight of a predator she couldn’t see butfeltjust beneath her skin.
Every step she took deeper into the woods was a step leading her tome.
I played with her, lured her deeper into my arms. She was my mate, a gift sent to me by the Blood Moon, and she would learn that this was her fate.
I chased her, thrilling in the hunt. And I could smell her lust. It coated my tongue so sweetly, making it almost unbearable to think. She had no idea what she had awoken in this monster.
And now?
Now she was on her knees in the soft dirt, beneath the Blood Moon. Here, as an offering from the veil, meant solely for me.
Her lips parted, her pupils dilated, cheeks red, her breath ragged from the run, and her thighs sticky with her arousal.
She was trembling because deep down, she wanted this, and that thought frightened her. And she was about to taste the cock she’d been dreaming about. The one made to stretch her, to knot her, to satisfy her until her soul forgot who she used to be.
She was on her knees, ready and waiting to tasteme.
Chapter 4
Blood, Heat, & Broken Will
RED
“Open that sweet little mouth and show me what that tongue can do,” he growled.
His voice didn’t drift through the trees. It didn’t echo like some distant threat. It struck me, hard, direct, and oh, so intimate. His growl was soaked in heat and yearning, edged with a kind of filth that knew no shame. He never asked for permission, just demanded I obey him.
I didn’t know what all this was, but there was no way I was obeying anyone. Let alone a beast.
I froze, my breath trapped in my chest. “No.”
The refusal burned as it left my lips. It wasn't delicate or quiet. It came out a lot steadier and stronger than I expected. It was an adamant denial, and it came from somewhere deep inside me, somewhere terrified and furious that this animal would think I would bow to his will. My whole body vibrated with the fear of it, the defiance of it all. A single syllable that should have been meaningless but somehow carried every bit of my resistance.
“No,” I repeated, willing myself to react.
His silence crackled through the dark woods.
His growl deepened. “What did you just say to me?”
It wasn’t a question. It was a warning laced with a challenge. He was almost enjoying my refusal.
Make it hard for me, Red.His words echoed in my head, sending a thrill of excitement through me, and my heart continued to brutally hammer in my chest.
I swallowed the knot in my throat, and forced my chin up. “No,” I said again, fists clenched at my sides.
The Wolf moved one step closer, his body emerging in full view, the red light of the full moon casting harsh shadows along his wide form. He towered over me, at least seven or even eight feet tall. He was beyond monstrous, all hard muscles, his power rippling through his veins, and the hunger in his eyes was undeniable. When he smiled, a slow, wolfish smile, it made my stomach twist.
Could this beast possibly be handsome? I had to be delirious. My eyes were playing tricks on me. This thing was not remotely human; there was no way he could be…yet, he was striking, a monstrous creature built in the shape of a man. Something deep inside me whispered differently. He intrigued my human side, and his presence was intoxicating.
His teeth gleamed beneath the silver-washed moon; the glint of them held a wicked promise, one that was soaked in blood and sex. A surrender that was being forced upon me. He tilted his head, eyes narrowing with pleasure as they devoured me. He held a hint of amusement in his eyes, as if my refusal only made him hungrier.
“You’re trembling,” he murmured. “Your heart’s racing so fast I can hear the blood rushing through your veins, throbbing at your throat.”
He inhaled slowly, deeply.
“Scared,” he snarled, his tongue sliding over the word like it pleased him. “But not just scared.”
I swallowed hard, because Gods, he was right. I wasn’tjustscared.
