Hevyn’s panicked voice filled my ears, and I abruptly stood from my seat.

“I’m on the way now! Find a secure spot and hide. I’m on the way. I’ll find y—” My sentence was cut off due to her screaming and a loud crash. My heart immediately sank to my ass.

“Peel, what’s wrong?” Tread questioned with a worried tone.

“Hevyn’s been shot, and she’s been in an accident. Her client and that bitch Honey Buns got something to do with it. Send the dogs to find Honey’s ass and that bitch ass nigga. His name is Raymond Kors. I want all the information you can get on that nigga. Alert Vo and them too. I’ll send our location once I get there.”

“I’m on it, bro.” Tread grabbed his phone.

My phone said she was twenty minutes away from me. Swiftly, I called emergency services and gave them her location and listed her injuries. That was all they needed to know. I would handle everything else.

I raced out of the bar with my helmet and hopped on my bike. My helmet was barely in place before I sped out of the parking lot. I zoomed through the streets and passed red lights until I transitioned onto the expressway. My heart was in my ass. Just thinking about my butterfly hurt felt like I’d lost my mom all over again.

There was no way I could lose Hevyn. I’d just got her. We had that forever kind of love. God, I just needed her to be alive. I swear, I was going to love on her like never before and let her know how much I loved her. My love for her would always be unconditional. I accelerated faster and swerved between cars and trucks.

I had to get to her. “Hevyn, I’m coming, baby.”

I switched to the right lane and hurriedly exited the expressway. When I made it to the light, I could hear sirens in the distance. I had to make it to my baby before they did. I bent the corner and ran another light.

My bike ate up the distance between us. Within minutes, I made it to the wooded area. Oh, fuck! Hevyn’s car had smashed against a big ass tree. Smoke floated from the hood of the car. I couldn’t see Hevyn’s condition because there was so much smoke.

I turned off my bike, tossed my helmet to the side, and raced over to her car. The passenger’s side window and rear window had been shattered. I raced to the driver's side and Hevyn laid on the steering wheel.

Blood leaked from her temple. I pulled at her door, and it opened. I guess she didn’t get a chance to lock the doors. Gently, I picked her up bridal style and lifted her from her car and laid her in the grass. Hevyn had been shot in her arm. Blood continued to trail down it.

I removed my hoodie and tied it tightly around her arm and shoulder. She was still warm, and that was a great sign. I checked her pulse and listened to her heart. My baby was still alive. The sirens from the emergency services were loud as they arrived.

Thank You, God.

I sat in the emergency room with my head in my hands. All I could do was pray. The doctors had immediately rushed her tosurgery because she’d lost so much blood. Her car was filled with it. The waiting room was quiet as hell and filled with her family.

We were all lost in thought. Hevyn meant the world to all of us. Her kind heart and sweet nature was like a magnet for all of us. Tevyn stared at the floor. The look of vengeance in his eyes spoke volumes.

It was the same for Mr. Temples. The hurt that was displayed on his face said it all. He was worried that he’d lose Hevyn just like he lost her mama. We wouldn’t. God had us covered.

There was a tap on my shoulder, and I looked up to see it was Tread. He turned his phone for me to see. It was a picture of Honey Buns tied to a chair in the warehouse we shut down. I nodded my thanks. He wasn’t done though.

The next picture was a screenshot of a document. I took his phone and read over the document. It was a background search on Raymond Kors. When my eyes landed on his birthplace and his real last name, a rage bigger than Harlem filled me.

So, niggas wanted to play with me. He’d been plotting and scamming all this time. Now, it was time to show that bitch who the real big bad wolf was. I don’t duck smoke, and I don’t play with blind spots and shit like a bitch.

I swiped the picture to the left and saw the addresses of properties he owned. I’d planned to search both places until I found his bitch ass. I handed Tread back his phone and nodded my thanks again.

Minutes later, a doctor walked between the double doors, and we all stood.

“Are you all the family of Hevyn Skies?”

Mr. Temples walked in front of him. “Yes, we are. How’s my girl doing?”

“I’m Dr. Banks. She’s doing good and stable. After we removed the bullet, we had to give her a few blood transfusions because she lost a lot of blood. There’s also stitches on herforehead because of the way she hit her head on the steering wheel. However, she’s resilient with a strong beating heart. Right now, she’s sleep because of the medicine, but by tomorrow morning, she’ll be up.”

We all released a deep sigh of relief at the same time.

“Fantastic news! Praise God!” Mr. Temples voiced loudly. “Thank you, Dr. Banks.”

They shook hands, and Dr. Banks walked away. All the Temples stood and conversed about which groups were going to see Hevyn. I’d let them decide. Now that I knew my girl was good, I could handle this business. She wouldn’t want me to kill, but there was no way I could rest and sit with her until her attackers were dead. I tapped Tread’s arm.

“I’m outta here. Tell my butterfly I’ll be by soon.”
