“Where the fuck are they located?”
He spat a mouthful of blood on the floor. “All I-I kn-know is that we m-meet at the old mill on Dody Road,” he revealed.
“That’s all I needed.”
I swung my machete and went to work cutting off every limb that nigga had. His body parts fell to the floor like some LEGO pieces. He was only a shorty. I had no remorse, though, because this was a dangerous game we all played. He should’ve thought about that shit before he assumed the responsibilities of a gangsta. I stepped back and admired my work. When I was done, I turned to Tread.
“You heard what he said?”
“Yeah, man. Good lookin’,” he expressed, still pissed off.
“Cool.” I looked at our foot soldiers that waited for their next directions. “Throw all their asses in the incinerator. Afterward, I want this place shut down. No more work will take place here. If I catch wind of anything going down here, whoever it is, will find themselves in the incinerator as well. With that being said, transport the remaining product to our closest warehouse. Am I clear?”
“Yes, sir!” they agreed in unison.
“Aight.” I looked at Tread. “You ready to roll?”
“Yeah, bro.”
We strolled out the warehouse with our crew handling business. I walked over to his truck with him, and Tread fired up a blunt.
He took a few deep pulls then passed it to me. Tread exhaled smoke from his nose and mouth.
“I don’t know who this new gang is, but I want them niggas dead. They stole hella merchandise from me, and I want my shit back or their lives.”
I nodded and released my smoke. “How you wanna handle this?”
“Now that we know where they’re at, I’m going to blow up the whole building. We’ll scope it out first and see if we’re able to get our shit back. If I can’t get our shit back, them niggas won’t have shit either. I want bombs planted all around that bitch.” He hit the blunt again after I handed it back.
“I’m down. Send the word when you ready, and I’ll make shit shake. I’m about to get out of here. You straight?”
“Yeah. I’m good.”
“Aight. Go home and let Bryte make you feel better. We’ll get that money back and revenge.”
He chuckled. “That’s the plan. I’ll get up witchu later.”
“Aight.” We dapped each other. I walked over to my truck and climbed in. My job was done for now. I could focus back on my sleep and my upcoming date with Hevyn.
Tonight was date night. I was slightly nervous because I had to pick Hevyn up from the home she lived in with Mr. and Mrs. Temples. I’d been in a few situationships, but none of them were serious enough to meet their parents. I was now in that phase with Hevyn. Mr. Temples was an old-fashioned guy, so none of that honking and she come outside would fly with him.
I shared his sentiment. A woman like Hevyn deserved better than that. I climbed out of my old school car and walked up the few stairs to their home with a bouquet of flowers in hand.
Haylow hooked me up. Magnolias were Hevyn’s favorite flower. I made it to the front door and rang the bell. Seconds later, the door opened, and Mr. Temples stood there like an overprotective papa bear.
His nostrils flared, but his face was expressionless. Mr. Temples exhaled. “I’m not even going to try and fight this. I tried fighting Bryte and Tread’s union and look where that got me. If you genuinely want to be with Hevyn, then do right by her just like Tread does for Bryte and their girls. Now, I ain’t from the streets like y’all, but I got guns, and I know how to bury a body,” he conveyed in a serious tone.
“Mr. Temples, I am a man of my word. My word and loyalty are all I have. Hevyn is safe with me. She’s the only woman I want. I know you are aware of Tread’s and my business together, but I’m more than that. I’m my own man, and I have a couple of legal businesses. I’ll do right by Hevyn. If you don’t believe anything else that I say, trust that,” I replied.
“I’m going to take your word, son. Give me a reason to trust you.”
“I will, sir.”
A voice cleared behind him. Both Mr. Temples and I gave the person our attention. It was my butterfly. My eyes were glued to Hevyn. She looked so damn pretty. I’d seen fine ass women in my line of work, but they were always dolled up, so it made them look good.
Hevyn was naturally breathtaking. Her long lashes batted at me only. She always wore this innocent smile, but I sensed there was much more to her. My eyes trailed over her curly fro that framed her face. Hevyn was dressed in a light pink andblue striped blouse that tied in the front with the skater skirt to match.
She paired all-white sneakers with her outfit. Damn she had some of the sexiest slim-thick legs I’d ever seen. I wasn’t even a leg man, but shit had surely changed by the way I gawked at her. My eyes went back to her face, and the sight of her glossed lips turned me on.
