BRING ME FLOWERS

Honestly, he’s been amazing to more than just me.

“Is that Beau?” I whisper, staring at the back of his head, still.

Her head snaps, taking a look at herself.

“Oh, yeah. He always comes in. Not as often as before, but yanno.” she shrugs.

“His hair is gone..” I squint my eyes.

“Oh yeah, he cut it after he went sober. He said once his mind cleared, he forgot why he kept it long in the first place.”

she responds.

Interesting. A sober Beau.

“No way he’s sober. That’s like a miracle. You realize that, right?” I smile, asking her yet another question.

“Might be a miracle, but it’s one that definitely made him happier, that’s for sure.” she says.

Beau takes his bag of food and turns his body to walk out.

Before he can, I watch him catch a glimpse of me staring before I raise a hand to wave. He smiles widely and instantly walks to our table instead of the exit.

“Get the hell out. I was wondering when we’d cross paths.”

he says.

We both side hug without thought, lingering for a moment.

“How’d you even know I was back?” I ask, looking at Sierra as if to say she told him.

She shakes her head, looking at Beau.

“Josh told me, duh. Anyway, you both should come to the bonfire this weekend. It’ll be epic. Everyone from our class, mostly.” he tells us.

“Looks like you’re just in time, Pea.” Sierra smiles.

“Everyone from our class?” I stick my head out a bit, 39

questioning his statement.

“Yeah. Is that a problem?” he furrows his brows, a light chuckle escaping his mouth.

“No—” I utter suddenly, “No, it’s okay.”

Beau glances at Sierra and scoffs softly.

“Okay, well, you two keep being strange. I’m going to the river.” he shakes his head, a smile lingering.

“Fishing?” Sierra chirps.

“Yep. Meeting with some guys.” he nods.
