Chapter 25
Skid
Hearing the whole truthof Grace’s past, I wanted to dig Kevin and Connie Ringman up so I could kill them again. They took the innocent love of a child and let their perversions twist it into something depraved and disgusting. Knowing there were still members out there possibly hurting other young girls, filled me with rage. Trying to shake off the anger, I followed Grace into the house.
A young woman with blonde hair and green eyes appeared from the kitchen with a tray of sandwiches. “Hey, Grace. I was just coming to find you.” She looked at me with wide eyes and muttered, “I didn’t know we had company, or I would have made more.”
“It’s no problem, Regan. Rhys asked for me to find you. He’s in the sunroom with your cousin, James, and wanted you to come say hi,” Grace replied, and Regan smiled brilliantly into the room.
“I’ll take these to them and come back to make you something, if that’s okay?” I could tell she was eager to see James but was still being polite.
“I’m not hungry. Are you, Grace?” She shook her head, and I looked back at the small woman who I know lived over two years in misery. “We’ll occupy ourselves if you want to go see James.”
“Thanks,” she excitedly replied and walked quickly down the hall with the tray of sandwiches.
“Is there some place you’d be comfortable talking?” I asked, and she looked up at me with worry.
“Have you changed your mind?” she faltered, and I cupped her face with my hands.
“I love you, Grace. Until the sun burns out and the stars fall from the skies, I’ll love you. Never question that, and don’t think that anything you told me changes that, either.”
Her blue eyes met mine and she pushed onto her tiptoes. I leaned over, meeting her in the middle as her lips pressed against mine. She was raw and vulnerable, and I wouldn’t push her, but feeling her soft lips against mine had my cock growing in my pants. It was the wrong time for it, and I tilted my pelvis away, not wanting to make her uncomfortable.
She pulled back from the kiss and asked, “Where do we go from here?”
“Home, baby. We go home, and tomorrow, we decide what future we want to have,” I responded and wrapped my arms around her.
She stepped closer, resting her hand over my heart as she questioned, “Just like that?”
“Just like that. Do you believe I love you, Grace?” She nodded, and I silently exhaled. “Do you love me?”
My heart beat faster, waiting on her reply. “With everything in my heart.”
“Then we figure out the rest later. That’s all we have to focus on now.” I kissed her again and whispered, “That and making you my old lady.”
She smiled sadly and inquired, “What about Eddie?”
“Eddie is welcome anytime, and if you would feel better living closer to him, we can move. Whatever you want, Grace.”
I didn’t want to be away from my club, but I would if it meant she was truly happy. The Death Hounds were my family and a part of my blood, but Grace owned my entire heart, and my future was in her hands.
“I don’t want you to move away from your family. I just want to make sure Eddie stays a part of my life. He’s been the closest thing to family I’ve ever had,” she stated, and I felt it was time to clear the air completely.
Taking her by the hand, I led her to the closest chairs and sat her down. She looked worried, and I suggested, “Why don’t you call him.”
She pulled her phone from her back pocket and turned it on. A minute later, when all the missed calls, texts, and voicemails alerted, she dialed his number and put the phone to her ear. She smiled as tears filled her eyes. “I’m fine,” she said, speaking into the phone. “He’s right here. Yes. Okay.” Pulling the phone away from her ear, she pressed the speaker icon, and Eddie’s voice filtered through the phone.
“I see you met Rhys, Dalton.” His voice was hard, but there was a hint of laughter under the anger.
“He’s a real peach,” I replied, and Grace chuckled, making me smile for the first time today.
“Grace, have you told him everything?” Eddie asked, and Grace nodded.
“He knows it all.”
“Dalton, are we going to have any more issues with secrets?” Eddie asked, and it was my turn to laugh.
