THE SUN SHINING THROUGHthe blinds woke me. Dalton’s warm body was wrapped around mine with his front to my back, and his arm and leg flung over me, pulling me closer to him. I was rested, and for the first time in years, there were no nightmares. I was terrified that I would have one after last night’s incident, but having Dalton hold me close all night kept the demons at bay.
“Good morning.” His voice was scratchy, and I rolled in his embrace to face him. “Did you sleep well?”
“Good morning. It was the best night’s sleep I’ve had in years.” I placed a soft kiss against his chest and felt his morning erection pressing against my stomach. “Thank you for staying.”
He brought my gaze up to his as he explained, “I told you last night. You’re mine.”
I didn’t know exactly what it meant, but it felt good to know someone wanted me for me. Not what I was expected to be.
“Would you like some breakfast?” I asked, realizing I didn’t eat dinner last night after we got back here.
He pecked me on the nose and replied, “Why don’t we get dressed, and you can call Eddie to see if he wants to join us. I have a craving for a waffle and some bacon.”
“That sounds good.” I went to leave the bed, and he gently pulled me closer.
“Where’s my good morning kiss?”
I bit my lip and smiled before sliding up and pressing my lips to his, not wanting to make him suffer my morning breath. He deepened the kiss, brushing his tongue against my lips until I opened for him. Groaning, I placed my hand on his chest as our tongues battled, sweeping against each other until we pulled apart, panting for breath.
Brushing the back of his fingers down my cheek, he smiled and said, “That’s more like it.”
I slipped from the bed and took a moment to let the soreness in my body ease before I walked to my dresser. I could feel his eyes tracking me as I grabbed a change of clothes and ducked into the bathroom to take care of my morning routine. Drinking from the sink, I took another two pain relievers and stretched slightly, realizing my morning yoga may be on hold for a few days.
After running my hands through my messy hair, I settled on a hat and left the bathroom to find my bed empty and remade. Smiling at how thoughtful he was, I walked into the living room just as he walked back inside, carrying a clean pair of jeans and a black T-shirt.
“How much clothes do you have in your bike?” I asked with a smile on my face.
“One more shirt after this one, but usually, I keep one pair of jeans, three shirts, and fresh socks. I have a small bag back at my place with the rest.”
“No underwear?” I chuckled, and he began to walk to the bedroom.
Glancing over his shoulder, he gave me smoldering eyes as he replied, “I don’t like them. They suffocate me.”
Quickly, I sent Eddie a text, and he confirmed immediately that we would meet us for breakfast. Lost in thought, I lifted my head when I heard him walk back into the room. Faded jeans, black fitted T-shirt, black boots, and his Death Hounds cut were just part of the picture as he returned fully dressed. He was covered in tattoos, and after seeing him naked last week, I knew there was very little clean skin left.
We stepped onto the front porch, and I heard the first tinkles of raindrops falling in the early morning hours. Looking at him, he explained, “If it was just me, I’d ride with my rain gear, but since it’s both of us, I think we should take your car.”
“Okay,” I replied and locked the front door.
We walked to my car, and I was going to get behind the wheel when he took the keys from me. “I’ll drive. You give me directions.”
Nodding, I walked around the car and noticed he removed his cut and placed it in the back seat carefully. When we were secured and on the way down the road, I looked over and asked him, “Why did you take your cut off?”
“When we’re in a cage, we turn it around or take it off.”
“Cage?” I inquired, thinking of a jail cell.
He patted the steering wheel and explained, “Cage. Car. For me, it’s like being stifled in a box. I can’t feel the wind on my face or the road beneath me.”
“There are so many rules to your club,” I reasoned, a little worried.
“Don’t worry, baby. It’s easy once you’re around it for a while.” He took my hand into his and kissed the back with a smile as he drove down the road.
What if I didn’t live up to what he expected in an old lady?
What if the club didn’t accept me?
