Not wanting to make a scene for the neighbors, I released my hold on her, and she wobbled slightly. Smiling, I wrapped my arm around her shoulder and escorted her into the house. Bear bounded into the living room and circled his bed in front of the fireplace three times before plopping down with a content sigh.
I sat down on the couch and pulled Sadie into my lap, letting her feel my arousal without pushing her comfort level.
“I wasn’t expecting you so early. I wanted to have dinner ready when you got here. Why didn’t you call?” she asked with her head resting on my chest.
“Hatchet gave me the afternoon off, so I wanted to surprise you.”
“It’s a nice surprise. Are you staying the whole weekend?”
I urged her to sit up and turned her, so she was straddling my legs, leaving space between us. I didn’t want to push or even nudge her into something she wasn’t ready for. Caressing her cheek with my thumb, she leaned into my touch.
“I can’t think of anything better than waking up with your beautiful face next to me.”
She smiled and leaned forward, placing a soft kiss on my lips. I let her lead, and soon, her tongue was dueling with mine as she ground herself onto my lap. I kept my hands on her hips, urging her to lose herself in the moment. Her soft mewls and groans were driving me crazy. Trailing my lips across her jaw, I kissed under her ear and down her slender neck as she rocked faster against my stiffness.
Whispering into her ear, I tempered the need in my voice as I encouraged her, “Take what you need, Sadie. I’ve got you, beautiful girl. Let go and I’ll catch you.”
She shuddered in my lap with her legs gripping my thighs as she stared into my eyes. Her eyelids fluttered, and she exposed her neck to me as an orgasm overtook her. She was breathtaking when she came, and my only regret was, I didn’t have my face planted in her perfect pussy while it happened.
Sadie collapsed against my chest, her panted breaths brushing against my neck while I rubbed her back. She looked up at me with a shy smile, and I winked at her with a smirk. Biting into her lip, she glanced down at my lap and back to me with her eyebrows raised in question.
I shook my head and placed her on the couch next to me before adjusting my dick in my pants. She glanced at me and asked, “Would you like anything to drink or maybe a snack?”
“You know what I would love right now?” I asked, and she shook her head. “I would love to lay here on the couch and watch a movie with you in my arms.”
Sadie enjoyed simple things in life. I could have whisked her away from the weekend or made grand plans, but she was the type of woman who preferred home to parties. She grabbed the remote and handed it to me while she got comfortable next to me.
After choosing a movie, I turned onto my side and urged her to lie next to me. I pulled her into my chest as the movie played, and before long, I felt her breathing even out. I looked down at her beautiful face and vowed that I would give her whatever she needed in life to be happy. Settling in behind her, I let sleep pull me under.
I woke a few hours later to find I was alone on the couch, and Bear was nowhere in sight. Shifting my feet to the floor, I stood from the couch and stretched my back. A noise from the kitchen drew my attention, and I walked in to find Sadie taking a tray of cupcakes from the oven with Bear watching her every move.
“Yours are cooling down. These aren’t for you,” she chided him, and he laid down with a huff.
She turned her gaze to the doorway and smiled at me. I closed the space between us and pulled her by the waist into me, giving her a proper kiss, complete with the dip backward. Her laughter filled the room, and as I placed her upright, I knew, no matter what, Sadie was mine forever.
“Something smells delicious,” I reasoned, and she wiggled her eyebrows at me.
She turned and lifted the lid to a pot on the stove, and the aroma of roasted meat and vegetables filled the room, overpowering the heavenly scent of baked goods.
“I made your favorite. Pot roast with extra potatoes and red velvet cupcakes for dessert.”
“How did I get so lucky?” I asked, not expecting an answer.
“Fate,” she replied with her head tilted slightly to the side, and I smiled, realizing she was right.
Fate led me home after losing what I thought would be my career, and it led me to the Dog House. Smokey and Bullet saw something in me that night that I no longer saw in myself, and with the backing of the Death Hounds, my confidence grew and that led me to Sadie. Without fate’s intervention, I would have wandered the world without knowing who owned the other half of my soul.
We ate dinner, and I could tell something was on her mind, but I didn’t want to dredge up anything to upset her tonight. I wanted to keep her in a positive mindset, so when I gave her the cut tomorrow, she could stay focused on the positive and the future I wanted to build with her. When she served our dessert, she gave Bear a cupcake from a different plate, as she explained.
“These are dog friendly. I wanted Bear to test them out to see if it’s something we could sell at the bakery. People love to buy special treats for their dogs, I just don’t know if they are any good.”
I laughed and pointed to Bear, who was licking his lips after inhaling every crumb of the cupcake she offered him. She looked and clapped her hands in delight before she gave him another one with a scratch on his head.
She was so kind and gentle with everyone and everything she encountered, making me fall harder for her every day. Sadie tempered my rough side, smoothing out my sharp edges and accepting my faults. I didn’t know how I got her to agree to give me a second chance, but I wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize it.
