“The morning is good. We can have breakfast before work,” Chuck replied, pulling me into a hug and placing a kiss on the top of my head.
I wanted to get home to Devlin and spend the night wrapped up in his arms, falling apart on his enormous cock. I smiled, my face feeling hot at the wicked thoughts in my head and I saw Blaire fighting back a smile. Saying my goodbyes with a promise to be back for breakfast, I climbed into my car and headed for the tavern.
I found a parking space close to the door, the Sunday lunch crowd thinning out from the restaurant next door. I walked in and saw the new bartender pulling a couple of beers for the waitress to deliver to a group of men near the pool table. Finding an empty seat next to the server’s area, I waited for her to finish.
Hayden’s car wasn’t in the lot and while I was in a hurry to get back to Devlin, I wanted to make sure I got Chuck’s smoke before I went home. The few windows on the front of the tavern glowed with the afternoon sun and I was enjoying watching the guys shoot pool. They sucked at it, but they were having fun trying to sink their shots.
“Hayden just called and said he’ll be here in about ten minutes. Can I get you something while you wait?” the new bartender, Allie, asked.
“Vodka and cranberry, please,” I responded and chuckled as the cue ball bounced from the table and rolled across the floor.
She sat the drink in front of me and we started chatting about how her shifts were going. When I asked how Hayden was, she blushed, and I laughed. Talking him up to her, she and I enjoyed the conversation until she went to fill another order. Using the free time, I searched ‘Devlin Callahan’ and was reading about his security company.
He was awarded a commendation from the FBI for his revolutionary program and I smiled, proud of what he accomplished. There was little about his personal life and nothing about him before his twenty-third birthday. I found it odd that he had just appeared, but shrugged, not delving too deeply in his past. I felt like I stuck my head in the sand concerning all the things I wasn’t eager to know about him. My past was a murky pool of unknowns and it wasn’t a rock I wanted to kick over either.
Feeling a pair of hands on my shoulders, I tensed, hating that someone thought they could touch me without permission. I turned my head and found Hayden smiling at me from his position at my back. Swinging on the bar stool, I let him pull me into a quick hug before he moved around behind the bar.
“How’s life?” he asked and smiled at Allie, who was trying hard to not stare at him.
“Life is great. Thanks again for this. I know it’s not something you do, but . . .”
“Don’t worry. I’m happy to help Chuck. I brought some for youas well. You feel like finishing that in my office?” He nodded to my mostly full glass and I stood, following him down the hallway.
As I passed the women’s restroom, my mind filled with those first touches of Devlin, him forcing an orgasm on me before sending me to Hayden. How he lit a fire inside of me that kept growing with each passing day. A fire, so intense, it was threatening to incinerate me with want.
Hayden closed the door behind us, and I sat on the couch, sipping my drink, while he weighed the weed and separated it into bags. He rolled a joint and sparked it, filling the room with pungent smoke. I stood and opened the window, turning the fan on to push the smoke out as he handed it to me. I took a small puff and handed it back. Coughing deeply, I reached for my drink and swallowed it down, fighting the burn in my chest.
“I thought you could smoke,” he taunted, pulling a large draw off the joint and blowing the smoke toward the open window.Setting my bag on the desk, he placed his in the drawer and locked it.
I shrugged my shoulders and sat back on the couch. Weed was fine but not something I wanted to do daily. The amount I smoked this weekend was enough for me and I was happy to be high on Devlin. Hayden moved from the desk and sat next to me, wrapping his arm around my shoulder. I let my head lull to the side as he talked about Allie. I was giggling about how deep he was when there was a pounding on the office door.
Hayden stood quickly and walked over, unlocking the door and wrenching in open. Standing on the other side was a very pissed off Devlin, his eyes filled with fire as he walked in, forcing Hayden to retreat with each step. He was dressed in black jeans and a tight black t-shirt showing off his bulging muscles.
“Lamb.” His voice was deep. As he directed his stare to me, I could see he was filled with tension.
Hayden, not knowing who he was, tried to block Devlin’s view of me, but I stood swiftly, stepping in front of Hayden, hoping to stop the anger pouring from Devlin.
“Who the hell are you?” Hayden asked and Devlin turned his attention from me, his cold eyes boring into him.
“Hayden, this is my boyfriend, Devlin.” I didn’t know what else to call him. I just knew I had to stop this train wreck from happening. “Can you give us a minute?” I turned to ask Hayden and was pulled against Devlin’s hard body.
“I’m not sure I want to leave you with him. He looks like he wants to hurt you,” Hayden replied and moved a step closer.
“I would never lay a hand on Elise. You? I’ll pound into the fucking floor if you step between me and her again. Do I make myself clear?” Devlin growled over my head and I felt the vibration deep in his chest.
Hayden swallowed thickly and I slid my hands up Devlin’s chest. He turned his eyes to me, and I spoke over my shoulder. “Please, Hayden. Give us a minute.”
“I’ll be out front if you need me,” he reasoned. Worry was written across his face as he closed the door, leaving Devlin and I alone in the office.
