He scoffed. “You’re my best friend, dude, and while you're usually a happy person, today you look really happy, almost nauseatingly so… which can only mean you got laid.”
While he wasn't necessarily wrong, it was so much more than that. Emery was quickly becoming my everything. I’d loved our time together this morning, but his submission to my care thenight before was truly what gave me the extra pep in my step. He was absolutely beautiful in his Little space, and I couldn't wait until we got to do it again.
“See, there it is again, you’re thinking about him… Who is it, do I know him?”
Darren was not going to let this go. Like I was going to pass up the chance to brag about my gorgeous boy. “Geez, you’re like a dog who heard the word treat… Yes, I met someone, and Darren, he's perfect. He's absolutely gorgeous, it's like he was made for me.”
Darren chuckled and rolled his eyes. “Damn, you’ve got it bad. What’s his name?”
I groaned. Emery was amazing and everything I could ever want. I wouldn't hide him away or keep him a secret, but Darren was never going to let me hear the end of it once he knew it was Emery and that he was responsible for us meeting.
“It’s Emery.”
His face contorted with confusion, but then his eyes lit up with realization, his face breaking out in a shit-eating grin. “Wait, Emery… like my barber? The barber I recommended you go see?”
I sighed in defeat. “Yup, that's the one. We hit it off almost instantly, but I didn't say anything because I wasn’t sure if it was going anywhere, but then just a few days ago, I offered to let him stay with me while his apartment was being renovated.”
His grin grew impossibly wider as he spoke. “So the one really responsible for that sappy look on your face is me? If it wasn’t forhow incredibly awesome I am, you wouldn't be looking like you won a million bucks?”
I laughed, giving in to his dramatics. “Oh great one, without you I’d be lost and alone. I'm forever indebted to your awesomeness.”
We both burst out laughing. “You’re so full of shit, Michael, but seriously, man, that’s awesome. I’m happy for you. It's about damn time one of us found our boy.”

EMERY
“Thank you, I'll see you next time!” I bounced around happily as I cleaned up and got ready for lunch. When I’d left this morning after breakfast, I felt as if I was floating. Last night was everything I’d never known I needed. Michael was quickly becoming my everything. He’d given me the peace and security I had been longing for but never actually thought I’d receive. But now that I was at work and outside the safety of his arms, I felt as if my entire world had shifted, and I guess it had. I was falling for him fast and hard. Who was I kidding? I was already practically in love with him, and that scared the crap out of me.
I hadn't had a chance to talk to Tessa recently with everything going on, and I was desperate to see my best friend and talk to her about Daddy… umm, Michael. It was slightly terrifying how quickly I’d gotten comfortable calling him Daddy. I’d texted Tessa earlier in the day asking if she wanted to have lunch, and she agreed to grab my favorite fast food and bring it to the shop so we could chat on my break. She was an amazing friend.
“Hey, bestie, I have arrived!”
“Hey, Tess! Lemme finish sweeping and I'll be right there.” She set up our food on the small table in the seating area as I finished sweeping, and we both tore into our food like ravenous animals.
I finished my chicken sandwich and was munching on my fries when she broke the silence. “I have a feeling I'm here for more than just lunch to catch up. Is everything okay?”
I sighed and took a sip of my drink. “I met someone.”
She let out a shocked gasp. “Wait, like a romantic someone? Oh my gosh, where did y'all meet? What's his name?”
Her enthusiasm brought a smile to my face and helped ease my nerves. I scoffed, remembering her comment about my dream guy booking an appointment with me. I never thought she'd be right. “Actually, we met here… He, um, booked an appointment with me, and we hit it off almost instantly.”
Her eyes widened, and I swore I heard her jaw hit the floor. “Are you serious? I was right! That's so romantic, it's like a romance novel come to life.”
I took a deep breath as I braced for the next part. “I'm staying with him right now. my apartment is being renovated, and he offered me his guest room.”
“Is he safe? I'm not trying to question your judgment, but you guys just met, and I want to make sure you're okay… You’re always welcome to stay with me if you need it.”
“Thanks, Tess. He’s amazing. He takes care of me and is so sweet and understanding, not to mention super fucking hot. I’m just scared, not because I don't trust him but because he makes me feel things… very big things.”
“Holy shit, Em! You’re in love with him.” It wasn't a question.
I sighed dreamily. “Am I? I mean, I'm pretty sure I am, but isn't it too soon?”
“Love doesn't follow a timeline, sweetie. If he makes you happy and treats you like the precious person you are, then there's nothing wrong with loving him even if it feels fast.”
My cheeks heated at her words. Michael's voice as he called me “precious” echoed through my mind. Tessa’s grin widened. “Oh yeah, with a dopey look like that on your face, you're definitely in love. What did I say?”
