Julian:It’s torture.

Me:Careful, Mr. Blackwood. You’re starting to soundromantic.

Julian:I’ll ruin it.

Me:Of course you will. You better bring my panties back to me in one piece.

Julian:No promises. But I will make sure you’re wearing them again.

Me:Before or after you take them off with your teeth?

Julian:Both.

I drop my phone onto the couch, my cheeks warm and my pulse racing. Five days is going to feel like five years.

Julian

The New York office is almost too quiet.

Everyone else left an hour ago, leaving me with a stack of contracts, a half-finished email, and a phone full of increasingly distracting texts from Celeste.

I’m halfway through typing something I shouldn’t send when a familiar voice says, “Hello, handsome.”

I look up to see Sienna leaning against the doorframe, looking like she just stepped off the cover of a lifestyle magazine. Navy dress, heels, hair perfect.

“It’s my favorite blonde,” I say, pushing back from my desk. I stand, kiss her cheek, then hold out my hand. “Let me see it.”

She grins and sticks her hand out like she’s presenting the crown jewel.

“Christ,” I mutter, turning her engagement ring under the light. “Is he paying himself more than me?”

“He’s a little over the top,” she says before taking a seat.

“Congratulations. He finally wore you down.”

Her smile softens. “Yeah, he did.” She crosses one leg over the other and tilts her head. “So, how are you?”

“Busy. Tired. Still better looking than Nathan.”

“And still humble.”

I shrug. “How’s Sienna?”

“Good. Happy. Ignoring Nathan’s very specific instructions not to bring something up…”

“Jesus Christ.”

“…because Lena told me there’s a woman who’s got you all bent out of shape, and I need details.”

I lean back in my chair and glare. “Do you people have a group chat about me?”

“Yes.”

“Delete it.”

“No.” She grins like she’s never been told no in her life. “So? Spill.”
