“So, don’t you think that maybe it’s a big deal that you still have an interest in this guy?”
“Exactly! You just made my point!”
He sighs. “But you’re missingmypoint. If you found someone that you actually like spending time with, maybe you shouldn’t do anything to fuck it up. Maybe Drew is something special.”
I lean back on the couch, almost forgetting that I’m still holding Luna. Dylan takes her back to ensure I don’t drop her.
He says, “You know, when Leah and I first got together, she didn’t do relationships either. Hell, neither of us did. But somehow, we found each other and just fit together. Lord knows, neither of us were ready for a baby, but when we moved in together…” he stops when he sees the color drain from my face. “Sorry. I’m not saying you have to move in together or have a baby.”
“Well, thank fucking God for that! Look, I know I sound ridiculous. When I was sitting out there talking to Aaron, I kept thinking about Drew. It was a very different vibe than usual.”
He sets his hand on my shoulder.
“Just maybe keep hanging out with this guy. No one says you have to marry him. Keep an open mind and don't run away just because you get surprised.”
“What do you meansurprised?”I ask.
He stammers a little. “Uh, you know, you said you were surprised by your own feelings. That’s what I meant.”
“Oh, okay.”
“So, what are you going to do?”
“I have no idea,” I say. “But my boss called this morning, asking if I could make a quick trip to Sacramento to take some photos—”
Dylan stops me. “I thought you were on sabbatical.”
“I am, but she’s in a bind and begged for my help. May as well. Buys me a couple of days to think about things.”
He sets his hand on my shoulder. “It’ll be alright. Just breathe, and you’ll be fine.”
Oh, if only it were that easy.

The Crazy just Keeps on Coming
Ronnie
“Yes, Rhonda, I got all the photos that you asked for. And some extras I thought would work well for the spread.”
“Ronnie, dear, you are literally the best. I was out of options. Originally, Stacy was supposed to take the job, but she got sick. Who the hell gets Mono these days?”
I laugh. “People still get Mono, Big Red.”
“I haven’t gotten it since I was in college.”
“Well, Stacyisstill in college, so there you go.”
“How is your little sabbatical going?” She asks.
“It was going well, untilsomeonecalled me back in.”
“Oh, I’m sorry. I’ll pay you double, and we’ll call it even.” She then changes the subject. “So, you’re stuck in Sacramento another day. Are you going out tonight?”
“Eh, I don’t know. I may go grab a bite, but other than that, I’ll probably just stay in.”
“You? Stay in? Are you sick? Is it Mono?” She jokes.
