Edward asked, “Who is Sierra’s fated and what pack is he from?” I answered, “Sorry, we are past that portion of the tell all. Moving on to me kicking the supposed Beta’s butt… AGAIN.” Freya linked me, “I healed your back a little bit. I’m not at full strength though.” I was concerned with how weak she sounded.
I replied, “You sound tired.” Freya whispered, “I’ll come out if you need me. I just need to rest.” I told her, “I’ve got this. You rest. You have my memories, and you know I can handle this jerk with ease. His wolf won’t fight me.”
Beta Jean smirked, “My daughter isn’t leaving.” I scoffed, “That’s rich coming from the man who’s tried to send her off four times with men who would’ve tried to kill her. Now… you want her to stay in the pack? With who?” He lunged but I easily dodged him.
Jean answered, “Buck needs a mate.” Buck physically jolted back. I said, “You are aware they act like cousins…and have no romantic interest in one another…but that is a better match than you’ve EVER tried to give to Sierra.” Buck commented, “I feel like that was compliment directed at me.” Several people snickered.
I huffed, “But it doesn’t matter now because Sierra met her fated.. and he belongs to a pack FAR better than this one.” Jean then tried to dig his fingers into my back. Had I not worn the jacket… he might have managed it.
I turned and pinned him in two moves. To my surprise, he didn’t tap out. I wasn’t above snapping his neck. I looked at his best friend, who went by the title of Alpha, with a sardonic smile dancing across my face. Jean would deserve it if I killed him, and he didn’t tap out.
Edward yelled, “ENOUGH!” I looked at Jean warning, “I won’t stop until you tap out. Edward yelling does nothing to me. If you don’t tap out… I can kill you.” I left it unsaid that I would. He angrily tapped out and I begrudgingly released him.
He gasped for breath and Edward ran to him. Dax and Eden glared at Jean with all the hate they had for him. I ordered Addison, “Get Sierra packed.” Dax chimed in, “I’ll go with you guys to pack. Mason, Hendrick, and Caine will you….?”
Caine interrupted, “I’ll help guard while she packs.” Hendrick and Mason nodded. Sierra ran over and hugged me. She cried and linked me, “You have to come join me.” I hugged her back replying, “You get packed and get to Phil. He’s probably pacing the halls.” Sierra bit her lip then said, “He won’t fully settle until you are there with your Xander.”
I assured her, “Xander is going to text me when his mission is over and we are going to meet up. We have a plan and everything.” She walked inside. Valentina handed me my phone with wide eyes. I frowned and looked at it. Xander had texted. Freya purred weakly.
Xander:Call me.
Xander:Lovebug, call me.
Xander:Seriously like right now, call me.
Xander:I’m not sure if you’re under the impression I’m a patient man, but I’m not. Call me. It’s important.
Xander:I need to know you are safe or I will lose my mind. That does not tend to end well for people if I do.
I was about to reply when another alert hit my phone. I could not get a break today. I slowly turned and walked away. Edward called, “Where are you going?” I replied over my shoulder, “That would be a whole lot of none of your business.” He growled but I kept walking.
I walked to my place with Mason and Hendrick. I took out the motorcycle they’d bought me. They shouldn’t have done it. They said it was for getting the profits from their diner back for them that I’d made Edward pay them all they were owed. Especially once I could prove he had millions of dollars and didn’t need their money.
I turned the key, and it roared to life. I jumped on and grabbed my helmet. I’d rigged it so it was basically Bluetooth to my phone. I called Hendrick, Mason, Addison, Paige and Avery. They answered immediately.
Avery asked, “Where are you taking off to?” I explained, “Angela Conners has been kidnapped. They are taking her to the Hunting warehouse Beta Jason was in. I’m going to intercept them before they get there. I am technically just going out for a drive…though…so it’s not weird…since I do that a lot.”
Hendrick growled, “That’s beyond dangerous. They will be pissed. Angela Conners….” I snorted, “Come on. Do they really want the Conners down here? We all know the answer is no. I’m solving a problem.”
Paige worriedly chimed in, “They will not see it that way, Mel.” I said, “She’s just a pup, and she’s Xander’s sister. I knew something was up! I knew taking Elise on a whim wasn’t right. It was always about getting Angela. DANG IT! How did I not see that?” It made so much sense.
Addison sighed, “You are not superwoman.” I told them, “I’ll call when we are on the way back.” Hendrick warned, “You can’t bring her back here and have Black Mountain show up to get her. Our pathetic pack leadership will try and hurt her.”
I snorted, “First, Angela wouldn’t let them. Second, I would kill them all if they tried. I’ll think of something and have it in play though. I’d lay on hot coals before let them hurt her. I’ll probably bring her by as a stop but not to have her stay.” My place, sure. Probably not, but it was an option.
Mason quickly said, “Stay safe.” I chuckled, “I’ll be in more danger when I get home. Which is just bonkers when you think about it. I’ll be saving a super powerful pup from a super powerful family… and they will be mad at me.” I hung up.
I killed the bike and parked it about twenty yards back. I rolled my eyes, “These idiots.” I could see Angela and hear her screaming from where I was. I couldn’t stop my smile. She was giving them hell. She might be young… but she was part Hackura.
Angela screamed, “WHERE IS ELISE?!” Angela didn’t know Elise was home? She headbutted a guy in the face, breaking his nose. The guy's head snapped back. Someone else snorted, “You stupid little bitch! She’s back home! We were told how to trick you. Your own grandmother wanted us to kill you.”
I whispered, “That literally can’t be true. Dowager Queen Veronica would never hurt Angela.” Angela rolled her eyes saying, “Keep up, genius. Alania isn’t my grandmother. I didn’t even know her.” My jaw dropped. Her mom’s mom?
A dead woman did this? How far in advance did she plan in case she died? Evil and vindictive were kind words for that woman. Now, I needed to new alerts. That was annoying. My should be sister in law’s captors all seemed startled by the fact that Angela didn’t care that they’d gotten her because of Alania. She had the iron bracelets on her wrists. Jerks! She was just a pup.
I crept up while she fought them from getting her inside. They were distracted, sloppy, and unfocused. They had no chance to take Angela anywhere even if I didn’t show up. Angela looked in my direction and blinked five times. How the heck did she know I was here if she didn’t have her sight? Knowing there were five guys was helpful though.
I closed my eyes and inhaled, trying to get positions from scents. Freya told me, “These two, one in the van and two coming back.” I climbed a tree and jumped across them. Freya snorted, “You know we are awolf. Not a monkey or a squirrel.” I told her, “Well, I had to improvise these last few years.” It reminded me of when I had met the Weresquirrels.
