Oden answered, “As will we.” Good, or I’d never be able to keep up with her. We weren’t getting anywhere with that so Sam asked about her archery skills. Melanie shrugged that off saying she could fight with a lot of weapons.
I was about to ask Cayden what other weapons when Elise said she saw through Fairy charms. We all looked at Elise who shrugged. I could tell by Melanie’s expressions and the feelings I was getting from her she was locked up. Which meant I was done with that topic too.
Gage linked, “Having Aiden look is a good idea. Phil and I discuss that privately.” I replied, “Good. Then you told Uncle Aiden to do it.” He agreed, “We did.” It would make the most sense for a Fairy to be curious about people who could see through charms, especially the King of Faerie.
I linked my dad, “In what world do I need to hear that my mate was shot six times again?” He just groaned. I shouted over the link with everyone I could in the room, “SHE HAS A SPREADSHEET?!” Phil said, “She has Beta blood, of course she has a spreadsheet. She easily has hundreds for varying reasons.” I glared at my cousin.
Honestly, I didn’t know if I wanted my mate to answer any more questions tonight. Melanie wanted to call this meeting to an end, and I was for that. I linked my dad, “I feel like the goal post for this meeting keeps moving. We were so close to being done and I am just about at my limit.” Dad responded, “Melanie wanting the meeting to end and it ending are very different things.” Oden grumbled in my head.
Tristan pressed asking if getting shot was the worst thing she’d suffered. Her answer shocked the room because of the clear truth of it. Gage and Phil winced, and Elise reacted as if she’d been slapped. Oden snarled, “SHE SAID THE WORD REJECTION AGAIN! HOW DARE THEY HURT HER USING US!” Yeah, I felt the exact same way he did.
I hated that with my entire being. With that out in the universe Drake clarified her statement about having knives in her back. I linked EJ, “My patience for this is rapidly ending.” EJ sighed, “I can’t say I blame you.”
I wished the Hunters that had been there today weren’t dead. I’d have taken my time with that Deline asshole. My dad called the meeting at an end, and I was gone. I let my need for her consume me. We lost ourselves in each other unable to stop for hours. Oden and I were taking turns. Freya came out a few times which drove Oden even more wild.
I ripped through so many pillows in an attempt not to mark her. This shit had to stop because I could feel it hurt her feelings. My family needed to get me an answer, I couldn’t take it anymore. Melanie was over eighteen and I wanted my mark on her neck. The fact that she was hurt by the fact that I couldn’t hurt me too. I hated it.
Eventually, I needed to give her a break because she was falling asleep. I had calmed down about the comment those assholes had made about me not marking her yet; however, I’d still seen her get hurt and been able to do nothing.
I walked outside and called, “Egres, Hutchins, and Gordon.” My Guard stepped out so I could see them. I ordered, “Make sure she’s safe.” They nodded. Egres replied, “Of course, Alexander.” I added, “Tomorrow when she’s in Yellow Hills, so are you.” They all nodded as I popped away.
I found several people waiting for me in the dungeons. I raised an eyebrow asking, “What happened to the fake Melanie’s face?” Elise snarled, “She really has been doing this since Melanie was a pup! BITCH!” The woman in questions was whimpering.
EJ asked, “Any more questions on what happened here, little brother?” I shook my head, “No, I got it. Where are the Coven members?” EJ inclined his dead where Dalton was waiting. I looked around and proceeded with my plan.
I inclined my head to my sister saying, “Cass, find out which one is their leader.” Cassie smiled, “With pleasure.” She popped to the one on the first table. Cassie asked, “Who is in charge? By that I obviously the person in charge after the Warlock Melanie shot repeatedly for trying to kill Paige.”
The warlock cried, “Jaxon was our leader. His brother, Maddox, is on the table next to me.” Cassie smiled at me saying, “That was easy enough.” Of course it was, she made him tell us the truth. I nodded and ripped the heart of the guy she’d asked the question to and popped to Maddox.
I asked, “Did you help suppress my mate’s wolf?” Maddox winced, “Look, we didn’t want to. That’s not the type of magic we were comfortable with.” I snorted, “I can practically hear the ‘but’ in that statement.”
Maddox sighed, “But they offered us a lot of money, and a chance to work with THE best dark magic castor.” I was annoyed he was giving me so much with me having to try. I asked, “And who would that be?” Maddox answered, “Vadoma.”
I glared at him asking, “Could you be less helpful? It would make me happier.” Maddox frowned asking, “Huh?” Oden grumbled, “Moron.” Gage said, “Seriously though, be less helpful and help us.” Phil sighed, “No one ever wants to help out a Beta or Gamma.” Gage agreed, “Literally never. It’s so rude.”
Maddox argued, “I am being helpful! I am answering all his questions!” A Witch snorted, “They mean they want you to refuse to answer. Their Alpha wants to torture you for information, but you’re just answering so he’s mad.” Maddox snorted, “Sorry to disappoint you all.” I laughed, “Uh huh. You have fun with Dalton. I have a promise to fulfill.”
I turned and found my target. I smirked mockingly saying, “Robert, Robert, Robert, do you remember what I said would happen if you touched Melanie ever again? I’ll give you a second to remember since it was over a decade ago.” Robert paled replying, “I didn’t touch her.”
I laughed, “I told you not to hurt her, make her cry, or touch her stuffed wolf. I told you if you saw her to walk away. Instead, you ran her off the road and hurt her. You kept her from me. Then you watched her suffer FOR FIVE HOURS fighting that damn spell.”
I popped into his cell, grabbed him, and popped away to the Hackura realm. I put him in my Uncle Bjourn’s torture room. Said Uncle portaled in. Uncle Bjourn murmured knowing I could hear him, “I thought I might find you here. I remembered when you told me about what you threatened him with.”
Robert started crying, “Alexander, man come on. We’ve known each other for a long time.” I shot back, “Yeah, and I’ve disliked you for a long time. You wanted what was mine and my brother’s. You hurt a member of my pack. Do you know who Karina’s mate is?” Robert snorted, “No, why would I care?” I believed him. I grabbed a knife.
I cut across his leg and he screamed. I asked, “How long did you listen to Melanie scream on the night of her first shift? Did you laugh?” Robert growled, “She’s a bitch. Of course I laughed.” I broke his ankle. When he stopped yelling, I told him, “She’s not a bitch. She just never took your shit.”
I stabbed Robert deeply in the ribs where Melanie had a scar. My Uncle commented, “You punctured his lung.” I admitted, “I know. I want him to feel how my mate did.” I glared at Robert saying, “You watched Melanie struggle to breathe. You watched as they cast spells on your pack’s Warriors to forget the truth of what happened that night.
“You watched as they made her think her family was dying. You laughed as she thought she lost her whole world. A teenage girl….” I trailed off scoffing, “Hell, my mate was BARELY a teenage girl who had done nothing to deserve it. Melanie was innocent.”
“She was just a girl who just loved to dance and invent things to protect people. She was an innocent pup, and you ripped that all away from her.” Robert snorted, “She deserved it.” I stabbed him in the thigh and twisted the knife.
I asked, “Why did she deserve it?” Robert snorted, “She thought she was better than me. Melanie never accepted her place and refused to get rid of that damn wolf! IT’S THE WRONG COLOR!” I ripped him off the table and punched him, “IT’S NOT! IT LOOKS LIKE MY WOLF AND SHE’S MINE! Her place was always above you. She’s a Beta’s daughter and she’s my mate.”
Robert laughed as I hit him. He tried to swing back but couldn’t because he was now struggling to breathe. Robert wheezed, “You’ll never keep her, Alexander. I told them it was a mistake not to put her in the shadows. Nooooo, they thought she’d be the perfect Huntress. I knew her though and told them they were wrong.” No shit.
He continued, “They WILL get her back, and then she’s gone. I may not be walking around free to see it happen again, but I’ll be here to laugh in your face. It won’t take them the decade you want me here for before they have her back. Melanie makes them a lot of money.”
