This altercation caused several of Alan’s pack members to come out. I greeted them, “Hey guys… long time no see. I feel like I’m saying that a lot today. It’s like the worst reunion ever. I could’ve lived without this happening.”
“It’s kind of not going well for you and… it’s definitely not going to go well for me later. You’re killing this whole avoiding the past subject I’m doing.” Several people outside the dome snorted. “It’s been pretty hard with the whole terrible liar deal I have going on…so…you’re really making it so much worse…which is annoying.”
The Gamma of Alan’s pack stalked forward and shifted back to human form. He snarled, “You’ll be coming home with us. Your mate didn’t mark you. Our Alpha decided if you weren’t marked, then you’d be coming with us to be his Luna.”
I tilted my head, “Ok... so no… like not ever… not even in his dreams. Also... it was a seriously bad call to say that out loud… like you have to know my mate can hear you… he’s standing right there.” Freya growled, “I will never allow anyone to mark you.” I knew that.
Xander roared in anger. He was furiously trying to get out of at least ten different people’s grips. It hurt my heart to see that. Freya said, “Oden would like you to know he will rip through people if they try to take you from him.” I replied, “Please tell him I know that.”
I linked my mate, “Xander... I’m yours. Only. Forever. It’s always been you for me.” He stilled but was clearly still upset. Several of the wolves on my side turned in surprise to look at Xander. I looked back in time to see Allison making it inside the house.
I frowned at the guy who seemed to be stopped at a barrier. Whatever. I did not have time to figure that out. Allison was safe and there were absolutely weapons in that house. The guy yelled, “She fucking disappeared!” Was everyone blind today?! Did everyone have head injuries? Freya snorted.
I turned back to the Gamma and said, “You really should’ve asked who my mate was. As you can see… it’s Xander… like I always said… in case anyone was curious… I was right… which is probably the least surprising part of today.” I heard a laugh bubble up from several people outside.
I continued, “My mate is an actual Alpha... and he can kill you…..so easily. Not that he’ll get to... which is a problem for later… but I mean… I have to kill you now and he’s not in here so… future me has that problem. Current me… just has to unalive you.”
Addison called over coms, “Mel, we have a problem.” I groaned, “I have a one crisis at a time rule people! I’m still dealing with crisis number one. Give me five minutes until crisis number two.” Dylan snorted, “She has a rule. I love her.” He threw popcorn into his mouth.
I ran at the Gamma and did a roundoff back handspring, wrapped my legs around his neck, and then broke it as I took us to the ground. I could hear shouting outside the barrier. Several other wolves rushed me, but I easily incapacitated them.
Once they were dead, I called over coms, “Addison, what’s crisis number two?” Addison answered, “On the south side of the territory the bad guys have someone from Yellow Hills pack.” I threw my head back and groaned, “Do you mean the opposite side of the territory that I’m currently on? That south side?”
Addison’s amusement came through when she answered, “That would be the one.” I shouted, “FINE! Shift back into your wolf and kill people.” I took a deep breath, “Alright, you obnoxious JERKS! I’m coming for you… taking people on the opposite side of the territory I’m on… is just rude.”
I turned to Xander, “Can you tell who it is?” Xander replied, “It sounds like a pup.” I nodded, “Sure, naturally. Why wouldn’t it be? UGH!” I took off running through the forest for cover. I reached the other side in no time. Freya getting stronger was no joke.
I easily found the group that Addison was talking about and Xander had been right. It was a pup. A little boy who was putting up a fight. He snarled, “My daddy’s a Warrior! He’ll kick your ass if you touch me.” I smiled liking his fight. Freya purred, “He’s adorable.” He was.
A wolf rebutted his argument, “Your daddy is not here.” I threw a knife and killed the guy. I smiled at those remaining saying, “No, but I am… and I’m not sure which one is worse… because a daddy wolf going insane on you is bad… but obviously I’ll kill you too… but probably faster… so me being here is better for you.”
The little boy smiled and kicked a guy holding him in the shin then ran for me. They were too stunned to do anything. I took out a gun off my other ankle and shot them quickly. Which meant me and this boy were going to have to run out of here.
I’d been trying to avoid using the gun, because… Alan would know it was me. Freya snorted, “Soon, they won’t know because we could shift.” True but that day wasn’t today. I picked up the little boy and ran to the pack house.
The second I ran inside a door opened. A mother ran out pushing people off her. She grabbed him asking, “What were you thinking?” The boy sighed, “I was just playing by the creek. I couldn’t get back when they attacked.” His mom hugged me, “Thank you.” I nodded, “Sure.”
I waited until they closed the door then ran back outside. I ran around the circle killing who I could until I reached my spot. Caine shifted back announcing, “The rogues are under control.” I nodded. The last one was about to die at the hands of Yellow Hills Warriors.
I yelled, “Look alive everyone, the pack trying to take your area is coming.” They growled just like I knew they would. Dax linked, “A Beta blood riling up Warriors. I love it.” Well, Yellow Hills Warriors needed extra incentive….plus what I said was true.
I turned to the woods mockingly saying, “Come out, Come out wherever you are… Alan.” Alan snarled, “It’s Alpha and this about to be my land.” I laughed as Yellow Hills snarled. I called, “Oh come on Alan… you couldn’t beat Alpha Emmett in human form, let alone his wolf form. He could even have his hands tied behind his back in human form and beat you... effortlessly. He’s trained to do so… which is no good for you.”
The barrier shrunk again, and I smiled knowing Paige was getting closer. Alan snarled, “Why isn’t the Witch doing that unconscious or dead yet?” I growled, “Well, she’s my friend… and I protect my friends. You remember Paige, right? She cursed you the last time you showed up at Black Path. Well, you miss a lot when you’re hiding in the shadows like the coward you are… so you missed that she’s fine.”
I added, “Oh, and by the way… your Gamma is dead, and Allison Daniels is just fine. So is the other pup you had. Alas, you have nothing to barter with Alpha Emmett with. Darn… I guess I kind of ruined your plans again. I’d say sorry, but honestly… it’s fun for me. I get a kick out of ruining... people like you entire day. It really puts a smile on my face.”
Several Yellow Hills wolves snorted. Alan growled, “I told you that day we had our first fight that you’d be mine. I’ve wanted you for seven years.” I sighed as Xander roared in anger again. I told Alan, “People have GOT to stop saying that near my mate. It was one thing, when he couldn't hear y’all… now it’s just plain rude. He’s right there… and he can hear you.”
Freya snarled in my head. I added, “I told you that day, and any other time you said I’d be yours... that I belong to someone else. I wasn’t lying to you when I said I’d rather die before being yours. That statement still stands. I don’t belong to you, I belong to him.” I tilted my head toward Xander.
Alan paled, “You were right? Alpha Alexander is your mate.” My eyes widened and I yelled, “YOU KNEW TOO?! Oh my gosh… You did NOT just admit to a FAR more powerful Alpha than you… that you knowingly tried to take and mark his mate. Dax, Caine... did you hear that? Do my ears deceive me?”
Dax laughed, “No, they do not. I did hear Alan admit that.” Alan argued, “No, I didn’t.” I shot back, “Oh, but you did. You knew who I said my mate is... and what do you know? Xander IS my mate. You knowingly tried to mark one of the Conners’ mates. Bad call dude.”
Xander’s anger was like an all-consuming fire throughout my body. Alan growled, “He will never find you again.” I laughed, “Wow… you’re just going for broke. You’ve never beat me in a fight, and I’m a MUCH better fighter now. Xander is a renowned fighter…and you think you can beat him? Please. That’s very disrespectful to a man with Hackura blood…and I see several gold angry eyes over there. That’s bad for you.” Dax linked, “You’re just going for broke riling people up with your Beta blood.” I was.
Freya snarked, “I will eat him. I’ll do it.” My canines elongated. I snorted, “Oh jeez.” Snarls of anger were all around us outside the barrier. Alan yelled, “ATTACK!” I smirked ordering, “Hold the line!” His wolves came from all over, but we were still ready.
