I teased, “I see you brought your binoculars with you.” Hendrick smiled saying, “I don’t go anywhere without them.” I formulated my plan, “Alright. You guys hold the line here and I’ll draw them away. You three draw them away from Paige. Since they are here for me, that shouldn’t be too terribly hard.”

Dax sighed, “They will recognize Addison and Sierra if they see them.” I agreed, “Yes, that’s true. Addison and Sierra didn’t bruise their pride and ego’s … by constantly refusing to sleep with them and being better than them at LITERALLY everything though so….”

I added, “Or rubbing it in their faces in both things… or proving it constantly. I went out more than Sierra and Addison…and some of them probably figured out I killed their friends. Well, you know what? They probably didn’t they aren’t exactly smart.”

Dax snorted, “Mel might have a point, Caine.” Caine smirked ordering, “You keep your head down, Mel.” I smiled asking, “Don’t I always?” Caine raised an eyebrow answering, “No. Literally not once have you kept your head down.”

I reasoned, “I’ve never been shot in the head… so logically speaking... I have kept my head down.” Caine snorted, “Don’t break your record for getting shot during one fight today. We can’t deal with that level of crazy from your angry mate.”

I tilted my head agreeing, “I’ll do my best. Six times is hard to beat though… hurts pretty darn bad too.” Caine warned, “Celia will hurt you.” I shrugged, “She doesn’t need to know.” Dax smirked saying, “We brought her to listen to the band.” I groaned, “Oh come on!”

Caine chuckled, “She wanted to tell you about her promotion.” I grinned broadly asking, “You made her the pack doctor, didn’t you?” Caine answered, “I did.” I gave him a high five. I told my friend, “I’m proud of you guys. I told you that you’d be amazing leaders.” Dax laughed, “Time will tell.”

I shook my head, “No, you’ve already made differences.” Caine smiled, “The renovations have started, so at least there’s that.” I pointed out, “I can talk to Xander, and he could send someone to snap it done.”

Caine shook his head, “I know that, but I want to pay for it to get done. I want to the pack to know I am different.” I hummed, “I understand, but they already know that…you silly Alpha you.” I playfully shoved him and took off to the middle of the yard.

Caine growled, “I said head down, Mel.” I ducked my head into my chest and heard Dax snort. I could feel several of the Hunters following me. I saw a bow with some arrows. Perfect. I picked it up. There was a line of rogues, but not many. I took out my knife and quickly killed the group of ten. I kept running. I heard screaming and snarling. Crap.

I paused and took a moment to aim the arrow. Alpha Emmett yelled I’d better not be his little sister. I gaped. Really? His best idea was that the four year old was out here shooting? Her signature was different than mine… this was a thing.

All the Daniels’ pups took up archery at a young age, but… come on! I looked around and found somewhere for Paisley to go. Freya chimed in, “It’s not Paisley’s fault she doesn’t see it.” I asked, “Does she have an internal head injury?” She replied, “No.” I was pretty certain Paisley just might have one.

Paisley took a knife to thigh. Great. Just what I needed. I moved from my spot and kept shooting. I took a stance in front of Paisley. How the HELL did Deline get over here so fast? Did he learn how to throw his voice?

Freya growled, “We will not go with him.” I said, “Yeah, that’s beyond not the plan… I don’t even know why they claim to want it.” Freya snorted, “They want to capture you.” I reasoned, “They want to kill me. That’s not the same.”

I forgot how delusional Deline was. I couldn’t believe he’d said all this in front of Xander. Freya said, “Yeah, our mate is very angry.” I knew that because it was shooting up my foot. Freya said, “They suspected you as a traitor?”

I scoffed, “No. If they’d had any idea, they would’ve handed me over with a bow and a request that they get to rape me first. If they want something surprising though… I could give them that.” Freya chuckled, “All the wolves are in shock you’ve asked for a beat.”

Addison linked me, “Oh my god you asked for a beat. I need Hendrick’s binoculars.” The people I trained knew that sometimes you had to do the unexpected and throw people off sometimes. I’d shown them that in practice.

Dancing often distracts people... and makes them easy to kill because they pause wondering what on god’s green earth you are doing. Mason linked me, “Your Xander will lose his shit. Hendrick says you're by him now.” I answered, “He will only lose it for a second. It will be fine.” Mason snorted.

Music started playing and I began to dance. I saw jaws drop on our side of the dome. See? Easily distracted. I heard angry yelling. Jason linked me, “ARE YOU FUCKING WITH THIS RIGHT NOW?! FOCUS!” I answered, “I am.” I could see he was astonished I’d answered him.

What was their deal? They needed to stop being surprised I answered them. If they didn’t want an answer… they should stop linking me. I was close enough to one of the Hunters now. I kicked my leg up and hit the button on my watch to make a blade come out on my shoe and sliced his neck open. He went to his knees holding his neck before he gurgled his last breath.

While the group was watching him, I killed another guy then hit the button to retract the knife in my shoe. Freya approved saying, “That was quite shocking.” I knew that because no one else had a blade in the sole of their shoes.

The Hackura carried knives around… often in their shoes, but they had to take it out. I’d been trying to tell Levi about this idea for blades in one's shoes… and the contacts… when I’d met him on the day of Xander’s birthday party; however, Tristan told me to go home.

Freya told me, “Fang says Dylan is serious. They want to see us fight in heels.” Well, he thought they were venomous. I mean… in a way... he was not wrong. Some of my heels had darts in them… others were more like a switch blade… some did have poison… so…again he wasn’t exactly wrong.

The amount of people linking me that people were coming up behind me got out of hand. Jason linked me, “Turn around.” Nope. I could smell who was behind me. It was Nate. If he had anyone with him, it would be others on our side.

Deline sneered, “You think you’re so smart.” I crossed my arms replying, “I don’t think that. I know I’m A GENIUS… so… let’s use the right word. It’s a proven fact. My IQ has been tested. I’m a literal genius. My IQ could run circles around yours… oh wait... it has... MANY times.”

Tristan linked me, “Ladybug, people are coming up behind you.” Again... I knew that. What stunned me was the next person. It was Eric Conners, “My wife said you linked her, and my son says you can link him and Phil. So, it would stand to reason that I can link you. You know the people coming up behind you, don’t you?”

I answered, “Yes, I do. He’s a friend… one your wife will be interested in getting to know.” Eric groaned, “It’s a partial Fairy then. There’s a partial Fairy working with Hunters?!” I answered, “Not really working with. More like… adjacent. He’s trying to find his adoptive Werewolf sisters the ring took.”

Eric sighed, “Ok. I still don’t know how this is working. I shouldn’t be able to link you, but I appreciate that you answered.” I told him, “Me either… on being able to link…. honestly. I’m weird... I guess.” Freya sighed, “We are not weird.”

Freya paused then added, “There’s an Alpha here.” I replied, “We are standing by several.” Freya said, “No, IN here.” I frowned and inhaled. I jerked my head to the right and barely caught his scent. I knew that smell. The first Alpha I’d fought in the undergrounds was here for another round, it seemed. Well, he’d be disappointed just like every other time.

Freya grumbled, “This man telling your friend to get you is annoying.” Yes, he was. Nate would never hurt me. Them? Yes. Nate quickly killed them all. Dang. I would’ve liked a little more surprise from their end, but we were pressed for time.
