I drove through the holoport and Valentina got out of the car. It was eerily silent on the border which meant one thing… A trap. Great. I drove across and into Yellow Hills. My heart was pounding because I really could not go into the dungeons right now.
I shook those thoughts and found the perfect place to leave Elise. She’d be found safely in this territory. It was still covered by the forest, but they would patrol this area given she was missing. I got Elise out of the car and hauled her over my shoulder.
I had just put her down when I heard, “So, you’re our sniper. Nice to kind of meet you. Thanks for all the help over the years.” Good thing I’d never taken my mask off. I turned to see who I was speaking with. It was not a wolf of rank, which was good. I couldn’t take more pain of ignoring them right now.
I nodded to him, “Get her home safe, former Beta Male Ted.” Ted smiled saying, “It’s TeleTed. Go ahead and tell TeleTed your story. You have my undivided attention.”
I raised an eyebrow, “Sorry, but I really don’t have time for that, though… I do want to tell you for some reason.” I tapped my chin, “Actually I suspect that’s part of your Hood ability. People tell you things… I think you have guys have more talents than just speed, so… anyway… Get her back to EJ, please.” Former Luna Lexi Daniels flashed up.
Freya chuckled in my head. Former Luna Lexi spoke softly to me, “Hi there. I’m glad you chose our territory to bring Elise to. We need to talk.” I nodded, “Great. That makes sense…because you are friends….with TeleTed…who did say…I could call him that. So… you two have your talk... I've got to go.” Luna Lexi said, “I meant us with you.” Oh… well that wasn’t happening.
I could hear the wolves coming. Curse Selene to the pits of Hell! An Alpha wolf jogged over, shifted back, and grabbed a pair of shorts. I knew who he was the second he shifted. He looked at me, “My son and our allies would very much like to talk to you.”
I offered a compromise, “I’ll be sure to give them a call, Former Alpha Chase Daniels.” He smirked asking, “You know me?” I answered, “I do. Just like I know the two men behind you are your sons Keith and Keaton.” Freya laughed, “Definitely tell the youngest here your thoughts on his girlfriend.” I mean, my wolf agreed so…that was all out permission.
I commented, “On that note… Keaton, dating around is totally a thing when your girlfriend… is the worst… and should be your ex…I’m not saying cheat…I’m saying break up with her…immediately… so… those are thoughts… you could consider.”
“As an outside perspective… she is awful, and I’ve wanted to say that FOR YEARS! Also… I mean she’s shrill…and mean…like so mean…just dump her…it’s for the best…there are nicer people out there. I have read studies that mean girls end up with nice guys…but they are human…. And I mean other than his sons being great….that didn’t work out for Former Alpha Nathan…so…the point is… Dump Lisa. Stat.”
Former Luna Lexi chuckled, “Preach.” I could. Lisa Kipner nearly died at my hands… and I was certain I should’ve just killed her, but I didn’t have a reason before I left. Making Keaton cry wasn’t a reason… or so people said. Since I didn’t know why he cried…I wasn’t sure I agreed.
Keaton sighed, “It’s complicated.” I hummed, “No…it’s not. When people are the worst… you just tell them and move on…you deserve better…and you might want to watch it because…eventually her luck will run out and she’ll meet Princess Luna Haley and uhhh that won’t be a good day for her. To say the ways Lisa dies or is tortured should they meet….is pleasant or short…would be wrong.”
Their jaws dropped. TeleTed asked, “Uhh what?” I explained, “Umm Princess Luna Haley has like a lot of plans…to kill her…because Fromer Luna Lexi doesn’t like her…and she also does not care for how her godson is being treated…so when you think about it Keaton…you’re saving Lisa’s worthless life.. when you think about it…if you dump her.”
I winced, “I mean not long term…probably…she’s not going to make it in the Supernatural World long…it’s honestly weird none of you have killed her…but if she goes to the Summit like she’s been vying to do for years….she’ll die quickly…my bet is on getting drained….So…or shot.”
Keith said, “I don’t even care how she knows that. I love all those words.” Keaton snorted, “You would.” I added, “It’s weird…that you don’t care that your twin hates her…like very weird. Does anyone in your life like her? Don’t worry….it’s a rhetorical question…I have all the emails that say they don’t.”
I waved greeting the people behind them before they could comment, “Oh hey... there’s Former Beta Matt and Former Gamma Derrick. It’s been great chatting… and maybe people… I mean Keaton… could consider my advice. I gotta run.”
Former Alpha Chase said, “I would love to hear more about how you hacked us all. I’m sure Keaton would sit down and have a long discussion about Lisa if you’d like.” Keaton agreed, “I would actually.” Of course he would…he was an honorary member of the Resistance. Freya snorted, “He would because they want to talk to you.” Orrrrr my reason….that Alpha Chase did NOT know about.
Fromer Alpha Chase added, “I wouldn’t recommend running from us though. I’ll chase and catch you.” I laughed, “I wish you the best of luck with that. I’m fast… and thus far have never been caught by any Alpha wolf….in any chase…ever…Not like your name Chase…I didn’t mean Alpha’s named Chase specifically….but a foot chase…that’s what I meant…” I heard a pop and took off like a shot.
Someone yelled, “WHAT THE FUCK?!” I was running towards where I’d left Valentina at the border so I didn’t even look behind me. I dodged someone who flashed beside me. I heard someone yelling again and I was pretty sure it was EJ.
I had to laugh when I saw what caused the panic. Valentina had shimmered in for the car. She was waiting right over the edge with it. I jumped in the rolled down window. God my side and back were taking a beating with the sunroofs and windows.
I heard Keith ask, “How the hell can she run fast enough to keep up with us?! Speed is our thing!” Keaton answered, “She didn’t just keep up. She won.” Keith snorted, “She had a head start. Normally, that doesn’t matter though.”
Valentina gunned the car and took off like a shot. I groaned, “Ok… my back is officially killing me.” Valentina wryly offered, “Lifting someone multiple times when you’ve been whipped badly will do that to you.” I told her, “I’m going to close my eyes for a minute.” Valentina assured me, “Go for it. I’ve got this.”
It felt like seconds when an alert went off my phone and watch. I startled, “I don’t even remember getting my phone.” Valentina hummed, “I got it for you.” I opened it and my mouth dried. I told her, “Get us near Blue Moon. NOW!”
Valentina looked over questioning, “What’s has happened now? I feel like we are maximum capacity for the day.” No joke. I told her, “My grandpa who disowned me, even though I AM HIS GRANDDAUGHTER, and Nick Kyle are walking into a trap.” Valentina nodded then shimmered us in.
I could already hear shots being fired. No! I screamed, “GRANDPA BEN!” I took off running already firing back. I saw my grandpa hit the ground before my shot hit the shooter. I couldn’t stop the scream from ripping through my throat, “NO!” I fired and killed the other four people there.
I looked and spotted Nick Kyle. He’d been shot in the shoulder and was on the ground. I yelled, “Bravo Four, Former Alpha Nick is down!” She responded, “I’ve got him!” I ran to my grandpa and ripped out a package of military gauze from my watch.
My tears wouldn’t stop. He’d been shot in the stomach. He groaned in pain. I told him, “You’re going to be fine. We’ll get you out of here. You just hang on.” He didn’t say anything. I shouted, “Do you hear me? You have pups, grandpups, and a great grandpup that need you. You just hang on! I can’t lose you…not you too.” Grandpa Ben asked, “Huh? Who did you lose?” Everyone.
Valentina came over and offered, “I’ll shimmer him to the car.” My grandpa tried to laugh, “A Demon and a Werewolf walk into a field. There’s a joke somewhere there. Did your wolf get hurt, young lady? Along with yourself? That’s a lot of blood on your shirt.” I told him, “It’s nothing.”
My grandpa disagreed, “That is most certainly not nothing.” He began to cough. I cried harder and Valentina shimmered us to the car. Grandpa Ben threw up. Valentina sighed, “Rolling the windows down.” I got out our scent concealing spray.
I shrugged saying mostly to myself, “I guess we will see if it works in cars on vomit…it should …When you think about it.” I sprayed it and thankfully... it muted the smell. Grandpa Ben snorted, “So, that’s why we can’t smell you.” Yes, it was exactly why.
