Before I could answer he asked, “What do we do if she SEES the tattoo?! We can’t explain it since we don’t understand it. The Wolves do but they aren’t talking! Useless animals! UGH!” I asked, “Wait, Rocket knows too?” Phil nodded, “Yeah, and he’s jazzed about it.”

Oden linked me, “I’m also jazzed but more so because Freya is ours.” I rolled my eyes telling my cousin, “My wolf wants yours to know that he’s more excited about it.” Phil snorted, “We now have Wolves in our heads that have regressed to pups in elementary school. They can talk to each other, but no no. Go ahead and make the clueless humans relay messages. WHAT THE FUCK Alexander?!”

I acknowledged, “I really have no clue. Maybe we can look into it without telling her. Who looks at the bottom of their feet? We are somewhere cold, so she’ll be wearing socks a lot.” Phil snorted, “Our hope relies on socks, so your mate doesn't think we gave her a tattoo in her sleep. We are Werewolves. WE DO NOT GET COLD!” Yet we had earlier when Melanie got mad. Oden hummed, “More like we just noticed it was cold.” Fine. That was a fair point.

I cringed. Oden linked, “Freya would tell Melanie if she saw the tattoo and got upset or scared.” I asked him, “Tell her what?” Oden answered, “That Freya did it.” I sighed, “Have no fear, cousin, we will not be painted as secret foot tattoo artists. Oden says Freya will tell Melanie she did it.”

Phil nodded, “Sure. There’s no problem with that. It’s always good to think your wolf you just got is taking over your body, locking you out, and getting tattoos. That’s a good thing for someone who just go theirwolf to think happens now that she has a wolf. Sure, Melanie won’t panic about that at all. She’ll find that SO normal.”

He waved his arms around, “Who would flip the fuck out? A wolf getting tattoos while in control isn’t concerning. Nope. That wouldn’t concern a single soul. ESPECIALLY not a woman who just got said wolf and didn’t have one for four years like she was supposed to.” He’d already said that. All the Beta’s were stuck in repeat mode lately. They were going through it. Oden snorted.

Phil groaned, “Nope, I can’t imagine that would freak me out at all in her shoes. Because it’s not bad enough Melanie is probably going through her second identity crisis. Because she totally had one not getting a wolf. Let’s throw in electricity and tattoos. Aesir above! You might have to mark her to distract from this insanity.” Oden purred.

I told him, “I won’t mark her until she asks me to. I do acknowledge this has all got to be weird for her.” Phil snorted, “Not just her and weird is the wrong word. I’m considering it great progress she’s not in the fetal position rocking back and forth.” I growled, “

He shouted, “I’M FREAKING OUT more than she has outwardly! She’s got an electric bolt that gives you both tattoos. What if she gives me one and I don’t like mine? What if it’s some tattoo of a rainbow that appears on my butt or back?!”

“Can she give just give anyone tattoos? Is she going to give you more? Is it just you that can get tattoos? Can pack members too? These are not fun prank tattoos like your mom and Emmaline do. This is permanent. Rocket told me so because I asked if it would wear off.”

Oden linked me, “It’s just us. We just get the one tattoo, and we have it now.” I told Phil, “Oden says only us and just the one tattoo.” Phil snorted, “Great. Can Oden share what the freaking weird electric bolt you got shot with, that somehow gave you a tattoo, means?” Oden told me, “No. Eleven years, Alexander.”

I groaned, “No, he won’t say because he’s still on about the whole eleven years of waiting for Melanie.” Phil sighed, “Rocket has no such excuse. He’s just being an ass. He doesn't think I would believe him.”

Phil rubbed his temples, “I’m telling you that my wolf could tell me that The Loch Ness Monster is going to pop up and attack us, but we just need to offer it a pizza and all will be good and I’d believe him.” I raised an eyebrow.

He clapped, “Oh and the Loch Ness Monster is purple, and he demands we give him all the pizza we have around or it will wreak havoc and I’d still believe him. Because why not? There’s a wolf upstairs that didn’t have a wolf until she looked at you. Now, she can give you AND YOUR WOLF, let’s not forget Oden got one too, tattoos!”

Phil paused then said, “He actually got four tattoos. Four. You got two. She gave herself two on each foot and I’d bet when Freya shifts, she has four paw tattoos too. I have a legitimate headache. I have a new theory. Your mate is Pikachu OR she is Captain Marvel. Yup. That’s what I’ve got.”

I rolled my eyes, “Go to bed, cousin. We’ll see if we can find anything about this.” Phil laughed, “You think we can find something out about a wolf giving her mate a half-moon and star tattoo with a bolt of electricity? You’re joking.” I sighed, “We can try.”

Phil nodded, “You can bet I’ll be trying because my brain demands answers. I’m pretty sure we’d have heard about it if this had ever been done before now.” I acknowledged, “Probably.” Phil groaned, “Alright, let’s try to get to sleep.”

He warned, “If you wake up with a more tattoos like a Pikachu with stars around it, or a mermaid on your calf, don’t come crying to me man.” I laughed, “I’ll be sure not to do that. Though I didn’t cry about this one either. I just asked you to come look at it.” We walked back inside.

Phil muttered as we parted, “I’ll never sleep again. Sleep is for those who have answers. I have too many damn questions.” I couldn't help but smile. I knew Phil would sleep, but he’d probably get up in a few hours and see if he could find anything. He was bound to be in a bad mood tomorrow though.

I walked upstairs and gathered Melanie into me. I kissed her, “You are special, and I will keep you safe. I don’t know what’s happening, but I’ll find out. You are my world. I don’t even care if you give me a Pikachu tattoo. I’d probably be able to use a charm to hide it.” I kissed her forehead.

I snapped socks on her feet, but not before looking at her tattoo again. It really was pretty. I’d never seen someone with a white tattoo. Hers practically shimmered, almost as if it was moving. I shook myself because tattoos didn’t move. I pulled her into me noting that she naturally fit perfectly against me. This was how we were always meant to be.

I Do Your Job

Melanie sank into Xander’s kiss. I reaffirmed to myself he was mine. Well, for now he was. Freya growled, “Forever.” I tried to shove that thought from my head for her sake. The fact remained, even if he rejected me…. he will always have been mine first.

I needed him with a desperation I’d never felt. I needed to feel him… feel us. Freya linked me, “He’s ours. Both of them are.” I ignored that comment because she knew how I felt about the whole situation. She knew Xander could change his mind even though I hated that for her. It wasn’t her fault, it was mine.

Freya growled, “No he won’t. You are being stubborn.” I admitted, “I know I’m stubborn, but in my defense I was born that way.” Freya snorted, “Don’t I know it. He’s ours and I’m going to prove it.” I asked, “How?” Freya smugly said, “You’ll find out.” I had no idea how she planned to prove that.

I wanted to feel the tingles of Xander touching me. I just wanted to feel. Since I’d left Red Run, the only time I’d let myself feel was when I was dancing. I had those I fought for, those I protected, and my revenge. There really wasn’t much space for me to have moments for myself.

This though... this, with Alexander, was for me and me alone. Well, and now Freya. Since she’d broken through to me. Freya purred in my head. I was about to ask her what her deal was when I felt an intense connection to Xander. I didn’t even want to ask what happened just yet. I simply basked in and let myself fade off into the light.

I could feel the light in my eyes. What the heck? I looked around noting that it was really bright everywhere. I put my hand up in front of my face trying to block said blinding light out. I called out, “Xander?” I heard nothing back.

Now I was panicking. Where was he? I yelled his name again, “Xander, where are you?” I heard a yip behind me. I turned and just barely was able to make out the white wolf. She was with me again and still shimmering.

I sighed, “Where the HELL have you been my whole life? You’re better than the dreams I normally get.” The wolf tilted its head and then took off. I muttered to myself, “I guess I might as well follow.” I ran behind her happy that I could actually keep up.
