Mostly because I’d heard rumors about what she did to Lux and his brother. I also knew she liked Xander. Which meant… I’d have definitely killed her if I looked her up. Freya growled, “You should’ve.” Xander angrily asked, “What is she doing here?”
I turned to see a beautiful blonde girl skip over to us. Of course she was blonde. That was his type. Freya growled, “He was never with those women that came to Black Path.” She was right. Why did I keep forgetting that?
Freya said, “Something strange is going on there.” It was. I had an excellent memory. Claire didn’t even look at me. Freya warned, “I WILL TEAR HER TO PIECES!” I was taken aback by the venom in her tone. My wolf had some bite, and I liked that.
I had developed a lot of grit since I turned fourteen. I told her, “I’ve got this.” I studied Claire and recalled what I’d heard said about her. When she touched Alexander’s arm, I saw red. Before I even processed what I was doing. I had her arm behind her back.
She squealed in pain. Freya scoffed, “That was a very un-Werewolf like sound.” It was. Phil howled with laughter, “OH MY GOD YES! I love her, Alexander. So much. My bestie is the bestest! I have wanted to do that for YEARS!”
I’m sure he had since if she’d done to the Conners brothers what it rumored she’d done the Bartlett’s I’d have killed her. I actually considered it because I did like Lux as a person…but she was in his pack so that got dicey.
Claire’s friends growled at me. One demanded, “Let her go.” I ignored them. Freya cheered, “That’s right. You ignore them. We are stronger than them.” I knew that because I was even before I had Freya. Sierra linked, “You go all that’s my man on them! They suck.” I was going to.
I told Claire, “If you touch him again… I promise that you won’t have an arm afterwards. Are we clear?” She whimpered but nodded. I let her go. Claire rubbed her shoulder before declaring, “I’m going to be his chosen Luna! You can’t talk to me that way.” Hurt, astonishment, and anguish hit me while Freya growled in my head.
Xander snarled, “NO YOU WON’T!” The entire gym stopped moving. Not that many people were here, but everyone that was froze. All of them were looking at me, then at Xander. Phil snorted, “That was so very dumb, Claire. So dumb.” I felt numb and frozen. She was blonde and perfect.
Freya scoffed, “She is not. Your memories tell me she tried to ruin Lux and Harrison’s relationship. She’s horrible and mate says none of what she said is true.” I asked, “Oden is talking to you?” She replied, “In between growling at his human about putting that horrible wolf in her place. He’s raging.” Xander’s eyes were golden, so he was mad too.
Oden took over practically roaring, “You wretched, disgusting creature! You forced your lips on my human ONCE! I would never let it happen again because he was so upset about it. We will NEVER take a chosen Luna. You are not my mate; I don't want you!” My heart settled.
Sierra linked me, “Phil said she’s just an Alexander wannabe. Like Trevor is your wannabe, but he’s so much worse.” I gloated, “I can do something about this one though.” Sierra shot me a look before replying, “Oh boy.”
I touched Xander’s back before assuring him, “It’s ok, Oden.” Oden whirled around and hugged me. He buried his face in the crook of my neck and inhaled deeply. I could feel him calming down. I heard someone ask, “Uhh Alexander? What the hell?”
I looked under Xander’s arm and nearly ran for the hills. I knew everyone in the group that just came in. It was Wesley, Buttercup, and her dad… Former Beta Dylan. The latter looked positively entertained. He eyed me until I hid back into Xander’s chest, but not before I saw him throw popcorn in his mouth.
Freya chuckled, “The rumors about him were true then.” I replied, “My dad said Beta Dylan always had popcorn and theorized he had a charm placed on his pocket for it. So… that was the rumor. The charm, not that he always had popcorn. That was an undisputed fact.”
Xander pulled back and turned around growling, “Wes, what the fuck is Claire doing here?” Gosh… he was so sexy. Wesley explained, “Her friend found her mate in our pack. She was supposed to be visiting her and definitely not in the gym.”
I quickly sized up Claire and her friends. There were about fifteen of them, sixteen counting Claire herself. She was clearly the Queen Bee. All of them were giving me death glares. Freya scoffed, “I’ll give them a death glare.” I didn’t even bother to glare back at them, I remained impassive.
My lips twitched when I heard more popcorn crunching. Claire sneered, “I didn’t get your name.” She was looking directly at me. I raised an eyebrow replying in a bored tone, “Because I didn’t give it to you. I took your hands off what’s not yours. There wasn’t really much chit chat prior to your pretentious, snobbish self just announcing you were going to be an Alpha’s chosen Luna.”
Wesley gasped, “She didn’t. Oh god. Alexander, I’m so sorry. She wasn't supposed to be in the gym.” Claire said, “Of course I came to the gym. We heard Alexander was here. He’s always in the gym if he’s here.” I growled, “ALPHA.” She looked at me in shock.
I told her, “You can call him Alpha, or I’ll lay you out on the floor.” Everyone was silent. I heard a few snickers from the Warriors around. Claire snorted, “Who are you? I’m a Warrior’s daughter. You can’t hurt me.” Yeah well, I was a Beta’s daughter.
I laughed mockingly, “Didn’t I already do that? I swear I did. Samantha, you did see me hurt her, right?” Phil commented, “I did.” Former Beta Dylan sighed, “Sadly, I missed it. I’m not used to being on the wrong side of a situation. This MUST be remedied immediately. It ALWAYS happens in this territory. It’s SGAP’s fault, I just know it.”
Claire growled, “I wasn’t ready.” I smirked, “You should always be ready. Being unaware of a threat in front of your face is a callous mistake on your part.” Claire turned red rolling her eyes. She questioned “Who would say that? That’s just stupid.”
Phil snorted, “Alexander has said that. Word for word, in fact. It’s in one of his training videos.” Claire blushed. Xander put his hand on my back. I asked, “Are you really calling an ALPHA of Black Mountain stupid? I mean… you did. In the gym… where he spends all this time.” Everyone growled.
Freya commented, “Way to rile up the pack.” Yeah, well that wasn’t my goal….really. I did know it would happen but really…. I just wanted to embarrass her for being rude to my mate. He was brilliant and his videos changed lives. She was nothing but a ladder climber.
Claire growled, “I challenge you to a fight, you bitch!” I linked Sierra, “Gosh… that was easy. Here I thought it would take effort to goad her into that.” Sierra replied, “Yeah, that wasn’t even on you. Normally, it is because you do in fact goad people.” I knew that.
Xander snarled at Claire. The whole pack seemed to be holding their breath. I laughed, “Sure, Claire, daughter of a Warrior. I accept your challenge.” She smirked, “Me and my friends will take you out.” Sierra scoffed, “Your friends are in this challenge now? What the hell is that?” I didn’t care.
I tapped my chin saying, “Hmm... Sixteen of you. Now that might actually be a challenge for me, but I seriously doubt it.” Freya agreed, “It won’t be.” I knew that based on their muscle mass and past experience.
Former Beta Dylan snorted, “Sixteen people might be a challenge? Do my eyes deceive me or is that girl not a Fairy?” Wesley said, “She’s not.” Former Beta Dylan cooed, “Well, she’s VERY entertaining for not being a Fairy. Quite possibly overconfident, but I am HERE for it. Wolves acting like Fairies, what a time to be alive.” I was not overconfident at all, but he’d see that soon.
Someone said, “I don’t think she’s overconfident. Do you see that gleam in her eye?” Former Beta Dylan squealed, “GOD, I love it here. It’s a magical territory despite Saint God Alpha Prick’s best efforts.”
Sierra snorted, “She’s not overconfident at all. You just fucked up big time, Claire. That’s Female Lead Warrior Ashley Griffen.” Former Beta Dylan threw his popcorn, then narrowed his eyes on me. It was fine… this was fine… He’d never met me. He couldn’t possibly know who I really was.
