My mom snorted, “You think an overfuckingacheiver did it, then didn’t announce it was them? No. Absolutely not.” His phone beeped again, “Yes, that’s what happened. The man went to the bathroom and everyone was congratulating him when he came back.” My mom raised an eyebrow, and I could tell she didn’t believe he did it, but said man would tell Uncle Gunner if he hadn’t.

I felt my mom’s gaze and turned to meet it. I saw confusion on her face, but didn’t know what it was about. Theo hugged me tightly. Angela popped in with tears in her eyes. I linked, “Little one, it wasn’t your fault.” She hugged me tightly and the whole family ended up in our group hug minus EJ. TJ even popped in.

Angela linked, “I’m so tired of assholes changing their mind and plans at the last freaking minute!” I agreed, “People suck.” She huffed. I said, “People changing their minds is not your fault.” She whispered, “It was so awful. Dad got hit in some paths and you did in most. I don’t like seeing you hurt.”

Eventually, we were ready to leave. The Future Female Alpha I’d been running with called, “Hey, Alpha Alexander.” I turned and she stuck out her hand. I gripped it and she whispered, “Thank you. We had no idea it was a whole pack. When I think of what could’ve happened here…” She shivered and assured me, “We are making plans not to brush off attacks like we had and beef up our patrols.”

I assured her, “There was no way you could’ve discovered them like that. I found them because I have a better sense ofsmell.” She nodded, “Well, my mate is going to implement some intense protections around here.” I agreed, “That’s a good idea.”

She added, “My parents are quite taken with a few of the siblings that were from the orphanage they took these pups from. They were from Maryland, but I just bet they stay here.” My mom said, “We will find placements for them, and I have several families that already want to meet their adorable fucking asses.”

She’d started a Supernatural site that linked same sex couples, couples that wanted to adopt, or people that didn’t want to be a parent, but were willing to be surrogate, donors, or looking for other types of situations.

The families and pups had profiles, and they could chat and find the right fit for everyone. My dad was wrapped around my mom nodding at her every word. A pang hit my heart because I wanted that, badly. I wanted to be like that with Melanie.

Oden grumbled, “We would if you’d just go demand to meet her.” I argued, “That would not help with the current situation where they are scared of me.” He snorted, “They can be scared all they want. She’s OURS.” Hopefully. He sighed, “And we are back to that word.”

Phil punched my arm. I asked, “What?” He growled, “WHAT? He says what!” His brother, Jeffery, chuckled, “Little brother, he’s an Alpha blood.” Phil said, “When one encounters a Rogue PACK, they call THEIR BETA WHO IS ALSO RELATED TO THEM!” I said, “I don’t exactly have my phone.” I didn’t when I was out, so I had a bracelet with a tracker.

He hit me again while Jeffery laughed. I asked Jeffery, “You even came back from your mission, cousin?” Phil yelled, “YOU ARE KIDDING ME! LINKING ALEXANDER, IT’S A THING!” Jeffery snorted, “He’s not. As far as my mission, I felt your pain. We ALL came the second we felt that. I’m sure Elise was either sleeping or she’s kicking and screaming pissed off at yourbrother that he left without her. She’s such a fighter, our lead Luna.”

I snorted, “She’d be asleep. She’s an Alpha who can handle herself so EJ wouldn’t have left her behind if she wasn’t.” I checked my bond with EJ feeling every sense that I was right. Angela called, “She was sleeping, but she gets mad he didn’t wake her up.” She’d be more focused on Melanie and Sam soon enough.

Hastein faded in and I hugged him. I nudged him, “So, the realm has go getters anticipating Uncle Gunner’s orders.” He shrugged, “So it seems.” I snorted, “You and mom seem to have a whole other theory.” He said, “I’m certain I have different suspicions than she does because I know more things. She suspects something like I do, but she doesn’t have the who.”

Phil rubbed his temples. I asked, “Who do you think did it and lied to Uncle Gunner?” He said, “I’ll have to ask said person when I go home.” He wasn’t going home for some time, and this wasn’t a high priority. He walked over to talk to my Uncle Bjourn.

I linked Phil, “Who do you think he thinks did it?” He scoffed, “Oh, so NOOOWWWWW you want my help? NOWWWWW you can link me? Sure. Let me just answer ALL your questions. He thinks Melanie did it. Why? I don’t know but he clearly does.” I snorted, “She isn’t a hacker.”

Oden purred, “She could be.” Yeah, but not good enough to hack into the Hackura and make it look like one of them did it using Uncle Gunner’s code. No one was good enough to fool him. Phil said, “See, here’s the thing. She’s a genius. So, could she be a hacker? Sure. Obviously. She is not like us mere mortals.”

“Do I think she’s good enough to hack into the Hackura? No. Give her time then maybe she will be. Especially after you two meet and she becomes my official Luna. She’ll hang around andthe minions in her brain will have her hanging out with Gunner.” I snorted at him.

He asked, “What? Geniuses totally have minions in their head that make them do all these things. Maybe someone looked up things about highly intelligent people. Maybe in doing so I have found I am not the only member of the family doing so.” My jaw dropped.

He continued, “I know you’re thinking obviously your dad does, and he so did. He’s just not the only one doing such things. CAYDEN, and yes I do mean your brother in law, is looking up these things. You are so not as subtle as you think.”

I replied, “Cayden thinks he knows, but that doesn’t mean that he does.” He sighed, “Literally the only person without a clue, and mind you that will come back to haunt us all, is Cousin Haley. I’m certain that’s because for some reason when she says Melanie isn’t real, we don’t insist she is. Seriously though, the fact your mom doesn’t know will end up being the worst thing ever. I see horrible, horrible pranks in all our futures. They will probably be legendary.”

Oden growled, “I could just tell her.” I asked, “And you want our mom to be disappointed she raised a possessive jerk?” He replied, “We are NOT a jerk. Obviously, she knows we are possessive. You are aware I’m an Alpha wolf and she’s mated to one.” I sarcastically replied, “You know, that escaped my attention.” He scoffed, “I’m beginning to think that it did.”

I sighed, “I don’t like fighting with you.” He admitted, “I don’t like it either. So, just admit I’m right and everyone gets to be happy.” I smirked. Phil said, “Rocket is saying interesting things.” My mom popped over asking, “About what?” He lied, “Geniuses and minions in their brain.”

She tilted her head, “Do you mean that movie about the little yellow people working for Gru?” Phil laughed, “Yes. Can we get those to come to life?” She answered, “Of course.” He grinned,“That should be a party idea. We can even have them plan to steal something. Think of how much pups would love that!”

My mom’s eyes gleamed with the party idea. She admitted, “That could be a great joint party for Elise and me to have to transition the pups looking to her instead of me.” She hugged Phil then me. She said, “Thanks for the really brilliant idea. Fucking genius.” She popped away.

I smacked him across the chest, “Minions! The pups are going to be working on stealing something with minions.” He laughed, “This is going to be hilarious, and Dylan will be jealous.” I admitted, “I can’t believe this hasn’t been done before.” He shrugged and I knew he was too, but then again, my mom didn’t really watch many movies unless Cousin Miley had her watch them.

I linked him, “Why do you think Melanie would move the money around? I’m certain she can’t look at a screen with her injuries right now?” He replied, “I swear you are so dense about her crush on you.” I retorted, “Because she doesn’t have one?”

He snorted, “Riiiggghhhhttttt. Whose wolf does her stuffed wolf look like again?” Oden purred because it was us. I said, “That’s a coincidence.” He snorted, “Cousin, you are overlooking way too many details. It’s not a coincidence.”

Jeffery commented, “Silent conversations make Beta bloods curious. What’s up with you two?” We both answered simultaneously, “Nothing.” Jeffery rolled his eyes, “Even without a bond, I knew that was a lie. With it, I know. Don’t worry, I’ll figure it out. There is clearly something going on that several people know about that I don’t. How exciting.”

Oden growled in my head. I shrugged, “It’s not really that exciting.” Jeffery grinned, “Sometimes I think I have more Fairy blood than you do, Alexander.” I rolled my eyes, “You don’t have any.” He laughed, “Yet I have more fun.”

Dylan shouted, “ENTER ME! I did that! I cultivated the fun gene in the Beta’s with my classes with you adorable pups running around.” He waved at me, “I cannot be faulted that he’s his father’s spitting image.”
