The crowd booed as I spotted Crush moving towards us. I hoped my eyes conveyed it was ok that he wasn’t going to make it in time to get inside. I faced Trevor and asked, “Can I help you?” Trevor nodded, “You’re mine and you’ll be mine by the time you leave this cage, officially.”

I felt a fierce anger that came up from within me. I gripped my head as I was certain… no… I could swear I heard something snarl. Trevor, of course, used that and hit me. I put my hand up as he went to bite my neck. His canines sank into my palm.

I screamed in pain and anger. I kneed him in the balls and flipped us. I was at a disadvantage, and Trevor knew that. I was hurt… pretty badly this time and I realized this had been his plan. It wasn’t a bad one…. Which told me it wasn’t his plan….more than likely it was Alpha Ezra’s.

It wasn’t going to work though. I would only ever have one man’s mark on my neck. It was my Xander or it was nothing. I pushed him further away from me, but Trevor just snarled and came at me again. Another glaring sign he wasn’t my mate. He was trying to hurt me. A mate would never do that.

He fought me with a ferocity he’d never come at with me before. If I wasn’t hurt, I’d have him down already. He was so sloppy because he never worked out. By this point, he’d bitten me several times, but not on my neck or near my marking spot.

I saw an opening to end the fight. I quickly pinned then choked him out. The crowd was clapping but not like they normally would. Not even they approved of this. Several wolves in the crowd looked disgusted. Demons did too and that said something.

Demons had fated mates or their chosen mates. They called their chosen mates, Spears. It was always a choice though. Even the Fairies present had a look of distaste on their faces. Fairies were all about pleasures of the flesh.

I’m sure it was the fact Trevor was trying to mark me that they disagreed with. They wouldn’t have cared if he raped me. The crowd here sucked that way. Or they thought things like this should stay in private. Who could really tell?

The cage came up and I stalked over to the ringleader. I told him, “I hope that was worth it.” I turned and walked away. Crush grabbed me and helped me back to my area. The ringleader followed behind him as Crush took me to the doctor.

The ringleader wrung his hands saying, “I didn’t have a choice. You see they….” I interrupted him, “You double my cut, or you get outed. Specifically you. I have connections you couldn’t possibly dream of. Which will it be?” He quickly agreed to double my pay. Too bad. Cayden would’ve LOVED getting his hands on this guy. He left quickly.

The doctor came in next. He was a wolf too. He frowned muttering, “I have no idea how you are conscious.” I answered, “Sheer force of will, doc.” He sighed, “That boy, Trevor, is a disgrace to the Moon Goddess herself.”

I snorted, “That’s not really an insult. She’s a horrible goddess who can go die. He’s just a disgrace.” Crush laughed. The doctor gaped at me. He whispered, “You can’t talk about the Moon Goddess that way.” I shrugged asking, “Why not?” He replied, “She’s our Goddess.”

I reasoned, “If she did her job... you and I wouldn’t be here. She can’t do her job, so she leaves us to suffer. What kind of sick mother is she? It’s a goddess's job to do the hard things. She refuses. She’s spineless and weak. She allows the suffering of probably millions of her children at the hand of a few sick bastards. She won’t get any sympathy from me for her sins.”

The doctor sighed, “You always have such a way of looking at things.” Crush stopped Trevor’s friends from coming in. I snorted, “What else could they possibly want?” The doctor sighed, “Nothing I’d appreciate. No more fighting for you for the evening.”

I grumbled, “I only agreed to one fight tonight… well… here. I issued the challenge in my pack… but that was barely a fight when you think about it.” He snorted. I told him, “Really, it wasn’t…it was a little more than sad on the other fighter’s part.” He said, “You are an exceptional fighter.” True but that didn’t McCoy’s abilities less sad.

After an hour, he was done. I got up and Crush took me outside. He gave me my bag and put me in Addison’s car. Sierra gasped, “WHAT THE SHIT?!” I laughed then I winced. My ribs were killing me. I explained, “Trevor got in the cage tonight after my fight. He tried to mark me.”

Addison growled, “Caine will have his BALLS!” I buckled myself in urging, “Just get us home.” The second we pulled outthere were lights in our rearview. Trevor could not be so butt hurt I choked him out he was going to hit the car. Could he? What was I even saying? Of course he would.

I cringed asking, “Who’s car is this, Ads?” Addison shrugged, “Oh umm I’m not sure. I just grabbed one.” I closed my eyes realizing, “They don’t know you’re in the car. Call your dad, they are going to hit us.” Addison questioned, “That’s Trevor?”

I nodded, “It’s going to be, yes.” Sierra told us, “Trevor’s link is blocked out. I can’t get through to tell him we are in the car. So are his friends.” UGH. I never thought to use link anymore because my friends were the only ones who linked me.

She took out her phone and called her brother. He answered and she pleaded, “Caine! Caine! HELP US!” She gunned the car. Caine yelled, “What’s going on?” I winced explaining, “Call your wannabe horrible excuse for a Gamma, and tell him he’s trying to run the Alpha and Beta’s daughters off the road.”

Caine snarled, “TREVOR IS GOING TO HIT YOUR CAR?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! DAX GET HIM ON THE PHONE NOW! HE HAS HIS LINK BLOCKED OUT!” I heard Caine stomp off somewhere before I could tell him his wolf could rip the link open. He was the future Alpha.

He growled, “Did you know Trevor was going after Melanie tonight?” Edward replied, “To the fight? He goes sometimes.” Caine roared, “HE’S GOING TO RUN ADDISON OFF THE FUCKING ROAD! SHE PICKED UP MELANIE WITH SIERRA TONIGHT!” Edward yelled, “BOOKER! Your son better not TOUCH MY DAUGHTER!”

I looked behind us and calculated the distance. I announced, “Too late.” I threw Addison's door open, unbuckled her and shoved her out of the car, then Sierra. I was just faster than them somehow. I grabbed the wheel. I was thrown through the windshield when I was hit. I could hear yelling and tired squealing before my world faded to black.

It felt like my life was playing out on a screen in my mind. I sobbed when I saw my life in Red Run with Tristan, mom, dad, and Jason. I studied my dad. I cried, “I look like you! How can you not be my dad?!” My heart felt like it broke all over again.

I smiled when I saw one of my first conversations with Addison and Sierra flash in my head. Addison sat down saying, “So you’re not from around here. Are we normal?” I tilted my head answering, “Your parents' relationship is odd.”

Addison hummed, “She wolves don’t train here. We have a Female Lead Warrior, but she can’t fight. It’s just to say we have one.” I gasped, “What? I’ve been training since I was little to fight.” Sierra clapped her hands, “I knew it! Can you train us in secret? Once you’re better? You look a lot better already.” I agreed, “Of course I can. It will be our secret.”

The next moment that flashed was the pup dying at the first Hunters meeting I’d been forced to go to with Addison and Sierra. Tears filled my eyes because they’d killed that innocent pup. The joke was on the bad Hunters, the Ring, and Black Path’s pack leadership though.

They never knew we were working against them… well, more to restore the Hunters to their original purpose. It was a slow moving project. I never did what the bad Hunters wanted though.

The moment I woke up in the Alpha’s office on my sixteenth birthday played next. I cringed. I watched myself sit up, “What? What happened? My wolf said I needed to fight and god…. my head….” I couldn’t hear my wolf anymore. Is she ok?”

Aunt Stephanie spoke, “You didn’t shift. You have no wolf.” I argued, “That’s not possible. I’m a Beta’s daughter.” Stephanie smiled evilly, “Your father was always up for debate. You not shifting proved Drake McAlister was not your father.”
