Tenn added, “Plus, there’s only so long you can blame sleep deprivation for thinking your baby never pooped and could make her bottles appear out of nowhere.” My mom came down and said, “It’s called conjuring.”

He shrugged, “Sure. I’d like to learn all I can for her. I just don’t want her to know that her mom abandoned her. She’s just a little kid. A smart, very advanced kid.” Uncle Aiden interjected calmly, “Supernatural’s progress through stages faster than humans.” He snorted, “No joke. Anyway, I just….” He trailed off and Lindsey rubbed his back.

He said, “My dad left me, and I was old enough to understand that and it fucked me up. I don’t want that for her.” Lindsey said, “We can ease into it. She will need to know that she can’t trust someone who says she’s her mom. She needs to know when she’s older, but there’s nothing wrong with letting her think her mom did want her. That is clearly true. She came to you on her concupiscence.” She growled that part and tried to reign it in.

My mom agreed, “Lindsey’s right. Her mother did want Lark, that’s not a lie.” Uncle Aiden hummed, “And her name was?” He admitted, “I think it’s made up. I just didn’t care about that at the time to be honest.” Uncle Aiden sighed, “It’s probably not.”

He shrugged, “That’s what you say now, but she said her name was Guardiolagea.” He nodded, “Yes, that’s a family name.” His eyes widened. He muttered, “I would’ve changed Lark’s name if she’d picked something like that.”

I chuckled, “Fairy names are usually very out there.” He jolted, “You heard that?” I grinned, “Werewolves have excellent hearing.” My mom grumbled, “That I don’t have, which is still utter fucking bullshit.”

She waved, “Boys, you should go celebrate your first mission. You can debrief with your uncle tomorrow, but you’ll need to celebrate this moment.” She hugged us both again, “I am so very proud of you both. This was beyond the expectation for your first mission, that your sister should’ve been on to share in this moment with you.” Everyone groaned but I sent my mom all my love.

She winked, “But you should go see Cassie and Elise. I know for a fact that both of them are very anxious for your return. They will be so proud of you, like your dad and I are.” My dad agreed, “We are so proud of you and not at all thinking of ways of getting you back for your brief consideration to draw the mission out before you heard Tenn talking.”

Oden snorted, “As if he could out prank us.” No joke. I grinned, “Bring it on, dad. We could run laps around your pranks.” My mom commented, “That would not be a good prank, Eric. They already run a lot because of Bjourn’s program and yours. You can’t prank them with running.” I winked, “Yeah, dad.” He rolled his eyes at me but sent me his love.

EJ and I popped upstairs to Cassie. Elise was in his arms in seconds. Cassie raised an eyebrow at me because she felt the tinge of disappointment I’d felt. I’d felt that since Melanie McAlister was born. Almost every time I saw Elise, I hoped Melanie would be with her. Sadly, she literally never was.

Flashback

Alexander was running laps in the gym. Oden asked, “Can we run outside next?” I agreed, “Of course.” I finished my laps and waved to my dad who grinned at me. Dylan Frost screamed, “DID EVERYONE SEE THAT? HE IS SPLITTING HIS FACE AGAIN!”

Several people chuckled and my dad rolled his eyes. He shot back, “I smile all the time, Dylan.” Dylan gleefully said, “Now, you do. The thirty two years and change you lived without smiling means that the rest of us have to shout it when you smile now. It’s your own fault. Maybe when you are sixty-four we can stop.”

I chuckled as I ran outside to shift. I heard my dad shout, “SIXTY FUCKING TWO?! ARE YOU SERIOUS? LACY, CORAL HIM!” Lacy just laughed and I didn’t blame her. I could tell you that Dylan Frost would continue doing it past when my dad was sixty-two. It was probably going to go on for centuries.

Oden chuckled, “It definitely is. Fang found dad’s reaction hilarious.” Jesus Christ. I had just reached the top of the mountain when I felt it. Everything in my entire world changed. I went on alert as the wind blew, caressing me.

I called, “Mom?” She wasn’t there though. The bond told me that. I conjured my phone to look at the time, noting it was just after noon. I linked EJ and Cassie, “Did you guys feel that?” Cassie answered, “Feel what?” I would’ve accused her of being evasive, but the bond told me she was sincerely confused.

EJ asked, “Alexander, are you ok?” I pressed, “You guys really did sense a change of any sort?” They both replied, “No.” Oden said, “They are wrong, everything in the world just changed.” I asked, “But what was it?”

EJ and Cassie popped to me. EJ asked, “What’s going on?” I answered, “I just feel like everything just changed.” Theyboth exchanged glances. I shrugged, “I dunno what changed. I thought everyone felt it.” They both shook their head.

Cassie made a plan, “Ok, Alexander go ask dad. I’ll go ask Uncle Aiden if you could’ve developed a Fairy type power, and EJ will ask mom.” I grinned, “You’re such a planner.” She snorted, “You make battle plans, and I get us answers. It’s what we do.” I’d bet money her mate was a Hackura.

I was actually hoping her mate was Cayden Crawford. Time would tell though. It was weird she’d never met him, but we had. Oden huffed, “Let’s solve our mystery instead of their weird scheduling conflicts.” He was right because I wanted to know what had changed.

I nodded to my siblings and popped back to my dad. He looked confused asking, “Alexander, are you alright?” Dylan cooed, “Do you bring a mystery with you? Fascinating.” My dad groaned, “Will you go find Wesley and Buttercup before I hit you.”

Dylan snickered, “He jests so, but he’s never punched me. He’s punched people FOR me though. It’s so sweet of him because WE ARE FAMILLLLYYYY YEAH YEAH!” My dad shouted, “CALEB!” His Beta had resigned and now it was Cousin Jim, but Caleb still did a lot.

Caleb smirked, “Yes?” My dad said, “Make him go away since Jim and Nick are busy and Lacy just left after laughing at me.” Caleb laughed and grabbed Dylan. Dylan cooed, “What do you do in retirement? Because you still do a lot of things. You know you’re going to get scooped up for the Werewolf Council with your pups. You should relax and go to a beach until that happens.”

My dad grabbed my hand and led me into his office. He said, “I know you want to ask me something.” I nodded admitting, “I do. Did you feel a change in…?” I trailed off. He pressed, “In?” I shrugged, “I don’t know the universe, world, the realm, territory,or all the realms? I don’t really know but I felt everything change a little bit ago. EJ and Cassie said they didn’t feel anything.”

He tilted his head, “I felt like something happened and so did your grandpa, but not the world changing.” I asked, “Grandpa Nathan felt it too?” He said, “We both felt like something significant happened, but not like the world changed”

I asked, “Did the wind caress you too?” He answered, “Uh no. It was just like a moment where it stilled.” Stilled? Everything came alive in that moment. I sighed, “We didn’t feel the same thing then.” He said, “Or we did and it’s just different to you.”

I asked, “Did anyone else feel it?” He answered, “Not that I know of.” I asked, “Why would it be us three?” He shrugged, “Again, I don’t know.” Theirs didn’t feel like mine did either. He said, “Sometimes, we just feel things. I know I got a jolt that now I recognize as my Supernatural side calling out to your mom from the moment her name was announced to me. I always sought out information about her because she was my destiny.”

I nodded, “I know.” He talked about that a lot. He asked, “Are you ok?” I shrugged, “I thought something really happened. Everything feels different.” He urged, “Let’s get in the ring and fight your anxiety off, pup.” Oden purred, “Yeah, let’s.”

I figured he’d want to go for another run later. We got in the ring and I fought my dad. I got a shot in, and he grunted. “Damn pup, you pack a punch.” Several people had stopped to watch us. We sparred and I heard someone cheering and clapping for us both.

Oden purred, “Mom is cheering us on.” That was very much like her. My dad pinned me eventually. I winked and popped out from under him. He laughed, “Cheater.” I asked, “Is it cheating to use what I can do?” My mom popped in and kissed my cheek then hugged my dad.
