My Uncle Bjourn nodded, “Cayden is right. Do I need to go to Alexander?” I sighed, “Not yet. I might keep that option open though.” My Uncle Bjourn nodded, but I knew that look. He was going to go anyway. He would make sure Alexander was ok which made me feel intense relief. I texted Alexander.

Me:You good?

I waited several minutes but he didn’t answer. Cayden urged, “Hey, let’s just walk back to the house.” I shook my head, “No, he’s calming down. He’s worried but not panicked. I can’t sit around doing nothing and let my mind run away with possibilities. Let’s keep running.” Cayden nodded and we kept going.

We eventually made it back to our house. I was starving so I snapped us food. Cayden laughed, “Did I make you run too far, My Duchess? This is a lot of food.” I shrugged, “No, I’m just hungry. So, what’s the latest on Ashley?”

Cayden sighed, “She’s at a show in Louisiana. Her friends are making her take a vacation. She’s really upset about the whole Odette ordeal.” I frowned, “You can’t find Odette? Maybe Ashley would answer our questions if you could.”

Cayden nodded, “Unfortunately, Odette is not the name she goes by. According to Ashley it’s her real name, but she only tells people to call her that once she gets to know them because it’s her real name. Her mom changes her name in every town. Along with her own. I know what her mother looks like. Micah istrying to run it down. Ashley is really upset about because she really liked Odette. From what I heard Odette really liked Ashley too.” My eyes filled with tears.

Cayden frowned, “Cass?” I started crying, “It just sucks you never got to meet her, and now we don’t know where she is. We just never get the right leverage to get Ashley to open up. Why can’t anything ever work out? Now, Alexander is excited and confused. I have no idea what’s going on with my big brother and I promised to leave him alone. I literally can’t go to him, but I need to know if he’s ok. He’s not answering his stupid phone and I….” I trailed off crying.

Cayden got up and picked me up. He pulled me down into his lap and sat down. He held me close, “Shhh Cass, it’s ok. I’ll go check on Alexander.” I cried, “No that’s not necessary. I’m being silly.” Cayden frowned, “Nothing you ever ask of me is silly. Plus, you didn’t ask. I can send Silas, Jed, or any number of people.” I wiped my tears, “Isn’t that like an abuse of power or something?”

Cayden laughed, “Being Commander has its perks. If you want Alexander checked on, then he will be checked on.” I thought about it before saying, “Uncle Bjourn was going to check on him. Right?” Cayden acknowledged, “I imagine so.”

Cayden’s phone rang. He laughed, “Were your ears burning, Uncle Bjourn?” Cayden paused, “Sure, we’ll be right there.” Cayden slid his phone into his pocket before instructing, “Pop us to the castle.” I closed my eyes and thought of Uncle Bjourn.

I popped us into his office and found him alone. He smiled announcing, “Alexander is fine. I know you were worried and wanted to tell you first.” I frowned, “What’s going on?” Uncle Bjourn said back, “I observed him from afar, so I don’t have all the details. I do know he’s with a girl.” I gasped, “Excuse me?! ALEXANDER?!” He nodded.

I clarified, “MY BROTHER?” He nodded again. I pressed, “Is with a girl?! But he’s….” I trailed off and finished the thought in my head. He’s been waiting for Melanie. I locked eyes with my uncle. I squealed, “Is it her?” My Uncle nodded confirming it, “Based on how Alexander has described her to me, I’d say it is.”

Cayden chimed in, “I’m sorry. Are we saying Alexander met Melanie?” Uncle Bjourn nodded, “Her friend is Phil’s mate judging by the way that boy was wrapped around her. His eyes showed a possessiveness we tend to have with our mates.”

I smiled asking, “Tiffany? I know Tiffany is Melanie’s friend. Oh Angela! That little sneak! I love it. FINALLY!” My Uncle Bjourn laughed, “I must say, I’m quite pleased. I know how Alexander has agonized over it. He’s head over heels, but then so is she.” I clapped, “I KNEW IT! I knew they were mates!”

Cayden laughed, “Everyone who knows about the situation thinks that. What does my new sister in law look like? I’ll have to set up alerts for her in our system.” I waved, “Everyone knows her description. He disagreed, “I’ve never heard anyone describe Melanie. What does she look like?”

I shrugged, “I know she’s got these pale green pretty eyes with black hair. Jase always talked about her eyes. He also said she had their dad's nose. People have always said they are obvious as siblings when they are together.”I felt Cayden jolt in the bond as if something just clicked for him.

Uncle Bjourn said, “Plus Alexander said she’s always wearing red lipstick. That rings true from what I saw. She’s very pretty, probably about five foot eight. She’s not a bulky type of fit, but she’s toned.” Cayden’s jaw dropped. He stood saying, “Uhh excuse me for a moment.” I frowned as he left nearly at a sprint.

I looked at Uncle Bjourn with a question in my eyes. He shrugged, “I don’t know.” I sat down, “Tell me everything. Did Alexander see you?” Uncle Bjourn nodded, “He did. He even winked at me. They were holding hands. She looks at him like he hung the moon, and he’s captivated by her.”

I clapped, “God! I freaking knew it! Where did you track them down at?” Uncle Bjourn smiled answering, “One of the places your family owns a house. He must have popped her there from wherever they met. I’m sure Alexander will tell me everything when he comes before his next mission. I believe EJ is not the only one taking a vacation. I think Alexander will be as well.”

I was so excited, “Good for him. Then she can come home. Gosh, her parents will be so excited! Jase and T will be too! Finally! A freaking break!” Uncle Bjourn agreed, “I know. I don’t know how Angeladid it, but I’m very glad that she did.” I smiled, “Me too.” I stood up, “I’ll let you get back to work. Thank you for checking on him.” Uncle Bjourn nodded, “I’d do anything for my nephews or my nieces.” I smiled and left.

I linked Cayden, “Are you busy?” Cayden answered, “A little. I might be home late.” I informed him, “I’m going to pop to see my mom.” Cayden said, “Ok, be careful.” Rain snorted, “Going to see mom is not dangerous.” I agreed with her but answered him, “Always.”

I thought of my mom and popped to her. She was sitting out by the lake at our place in Montana. She turned, “Hey Cass...” She trailed off and I just smiled at her. She shouted, “HOLY MOTHERFUCKING SHIT!” I laughed, “So, you’re going to be a grandma.”

My mom squealed, popped to me, and hugged me tightly. She pulled back asking for details, “What did Cayden say?” I blushed, “I haven’t told him yet.”My mom smiled, “Take your time, and tell him when you are ready.”

I explained, “I’m debating on how to tell him.” My mom asked, “What are you thinking about doing?” I laughed, “Well we are always eating burritos. So, I thought I could get matching shirts. Two that say burritos and one that says taquito that’s a onesie.”

My mom smiled, “That’s adorable. What else?” I mused, “I was also thinking of snapping the words you’re going to be a dad at the bottom of his water bottle.” My mom laughed, “I love that one the most so far.” I admitted, “I think it’s mine too, but you knew that based on the bond.” She winked at me. I confessed, “I’m worried he might choke on water though.” My mom chuckled, “That would be the hilarious part since he’d be fine.” I smiled, “I’ll do that then.”

She hugged me again. She pulled back and studied me asking, “Are you happy?” I nodded, “I’m really happy.” My mom smiled and sat with me by the water. I asked, “Where’s dad?” She sighed, “In a meeting with a fucking bitch who’s asking to get her ass kicked by me.” I bit my lip. Rain growled, “We could kill said bitch.” Maybe we would.

My mom continued, “I swear to God one if she does one more flirty hand lightly touching his bicep, I will RIP HER MOTHERFUCKING HAND OFF! Three, two, one.” She took a deep breath then waved, “Nope, that didn’t work. I am still pissed.”

I laughed, “He’s in the meeting alone?” My mom snorted, “Do I look like a novice to you? No, he’s with Jim because I popped him in.” I nudged her shoulder with mine complimenting, “That’s more like it.” My mom squeezed my shoulder reiterating, “I’m really happy for you Cassie.”

I smiled admitting, “It wasn’t exactly planned, but I’m happy. I’m still scared.” My mom nodded, “That’s normal. I’ve been scared at times with all you kids. If you ever feel something is off, you get the fuck out of wherever you are and ask questions later. Ok?”

I nodded, “I will mom, I promise. I’m going to talk to Ghiza about sticking closer than normal.” My mom said, “If that gives you peace of mind, then that’s what you do.” I hugged her again, “I love you, mom.” My mom replied, “I love you more than words can say, Cassie Veronica Shayla Crawford. You’re going to be an amazing mom. You’ll fucking crush it.” Rain purred loving the praise.
