“Same.” Just the thought of him being with someone else makes me want to get the claws out.

His lips quirk up in amusement. “Glad we are on the same page.” He turns to look at Max at the end of the dock, watching the small fish swim by. “Let’s get your life jacket on, buddy.” Max runs over while I get two vests out for Travis and me.

I throw my t-shirt over my head and step out of my shorts before putting on my vest. I feel Travis’s eyes on my every move, sending tiny bolts of heat throughout my body. Looking over at him, his eyes have that stormy grey color that I love to see. He slowly removes his shirt, and I swallow hard as I take in his bare chest. My eyes immediately go to his tattoos and the way his muscles flex as he puts on his life jacket.

Disappointment hits me when he zips up the vest covering him up. I hear him chuckle as my eyes dart back to him. Glancing at Max, I make sure he is facing away before I turn and pick up my clothes off the dock. His laughter diesdown the moment he realizes the view I just gave him. Grinning to myself that I got the last laugh, I walk over to the jet skis.

I push the button to lower the skis closer to the water. Travis walks up behind me and wraps his arm around my stomach, pushing me flush against him. I feel him aroused and bite the inside of my cheek to stop laughing. “You will pay for that later, wildcat,” he whispers into my ear before letting me go. My body immediately responds to his words as a rush of desire fills me. I shake my head to clear the daze he always seems to put me in. I concentrate on getting the skis in the water before turning to Travis

“Have you rode a jet ski before? I completely forgot to ask you.”

“I was born and raised on the water here. I’ve picked up a few things along the way.” His eyes are full of mischief as he holds back a smile.

“Hopefully, you can keep up then.” His laughter rings out as I climb down to the ski and back it up, bringing it to the side of the dock. “Ready, Max?” He nods his head excitedly.

“He can ride with me if you want.” Travis looks down at me before glancing at Max.

“I want to ride with Sophia,” Max says.

“I’ll be safe with him. I won’t go too fast.”

“I know that. I trust you to keep him safe. I just didn’t know if you wanted to go solo so you could go faster.”

“I need my co-captain. I want him to ride with me.”

“Well, okay then.” Travis helps him down, setting him in front of me. He walks over and jumps on the other one, backing it out like a pro before bringing it around to us. “Lead the way,” he grins.

I guide us through the canal, letting Max steer us every once in a while. When we get to the open water, I lean forward and whisper in his ear. “Ready to leave your dad in the dust?”

“Yes,” he giggles.

I hit the gas, and we zoom ahead of Travis. I hear him laugh as we take the lead. I make sure to go easy on the waves and tame way down with what I’m used to with Maverick. We head along the intercoastal at an even speed. Once we hit some of the islands, I lead us around them to the open waters of the Atlantic. I glance over at Travis, and he winks at me, grinning like a little kid, before zooming ahead of us.

I slow to a stop and watch him hit the waves like a pro. He does a three-sixty turn, easily coming out of it before jumping a wave and getting air. Okay, so he really does know how to drive a jet ski. He does a few more maneuvers before coming back over to us. I give him a warning look, knowing what’s coming seconds before he takes a sharp turn, drenching Max and me with water.

Max laughs, and I shake the water off my face before laughter takes over. It looks like we both will get a payback later.

Grinning, he comes to a stop next to us. “Did you guys fall off or something? You are both soaked,” he says in a teasing voice.

“No, Dad. You sprayed us with a huge splash,” he giggles.

“Are you sure it was me?” Travis’s eyes shine with laughter as he looks at his son.

“Yes,” Max giggles harder.

“Have fun out there?” I nod toward the open waters.

“What that? That was nothing.” He grins at me.

“You’re going to give Maverick a run for his money. You almost had the height of his airs.”

“Almost? I’ll have to step up my game when he’s around.”

“He may have met his match.” I slowly move forward and lead us back to the islands.

We spend the rest of the day swimming and collectingseashells on the beach. Max thought it was hilarious when I buried his dad’s legs with sand and made him a mermaid tail. I can’t remember ever smiling this hard or having this much fun.

Travis would sneak in glances and a quick kiss whenever he could, our hands always finding each other when we walked the island. Max would run ahead of us, chasing the seagulls, and to everyone else, we were just a family out here enjoying the day.
