“I have a ride. Emma is taking me home.” I hiccup into the phone.

“Just get in his fucking vehicle, Soph. For once, just do as you’re told.”

“I don’t understand why Emma can’t take me.”

I hear him sigh into the phone. “Please. I need to know you’re safe.”

“Fine. He can take me home.”

“Thank you.” He breathes a sigh of relief.

“I’ll see you tomorrow when I babysit Max.”

“My brothers are in town, so I don’t need you to take Max home. Jake is going to pick him up from school. I was going to let you know in the morning.”

“Oh, okay. I guess I’ll see you Monday then.” I try not to let the disappointment show in my voice. “Bye, Travis.”

“Bye, Sophia,” he sighs before the line goes dead. I walk back over to the girls.

I take a big sip of my wine before meeting the questions in their eyes.

“Well, what did he say?” Emma asks.

“The drummer over there is his brother. He wants him to take me home because he said he needs to know I’m safe. I tried to argue with him, but he’s being stubborn about it. I think he was pissed that his brother flirted with me. He heard his brother call me beautiful and how he was going to come talk to me once they packed up everything.”

“This just keeps getting better and better,” Bella giggles. “It’s like we have our own soap opera right in front of our eyes.”

“I’m glad my messed up life amuses you.”

“He’s being all possessive with you. It shows that he cares. I think it’s sweet that he wants his brother to take you home. Remember when I drunk-called Noah after our wine night here? He immediately came and picked us up. He likes you. Really likes you.” Emma beams at me. “And I think you really like him too.”

“I do. That’s the problem.” I finish off my wine and grab my purse. “I guess I’m a band groupie riding in the van tonight.”

“Call us tomorrow and let us know how it goes,” Emma says, getting up from the table.

“All this talk about scruff on the face and hot, possessive men has me very glad I have one to go home to. Maverick won’t know what hit him when I get home.” Bella hops off the stool and giggles.

“Noah, either,” Emma laughs.

“You guys go home and have crazy hot sex, and I’ll just go home to an empty bed and a vibrator. Don’t worry about me.”

“What’s this talk about vibrators? I knew girls talked about this stuff when they got together.” Travis’s brother is standing behind me, taking me by surprise.

“Oh my God. Can we pretend you didn’t hear that?” I look up at him and see the laughter in his grey eyes. You can definitely tell they are brothers with their black hair and eyes. They have the same number of tattoos, but he has a small piercing on his left eyebrow and lip. He’s a couple of inches shorter than Travis but still towers over me.

“I don’t think so. That will forever be in my head.” He laughs.

“Great,” I mumble.

“I’m Miles, by the way.” He grins at the three of us.

“I’m Sophia, and these are my two best friends. Emma is married to Noah, who Travis bought the house from, and this is Bella. She’s my brother’s fiancé.”

“Nice to meet you all. You should come back tomorrow or Saturday with the guys and watch us play.”

“We were talking about doing that. You guys are really good. I haven’t seen Rusty’s this packed on a Thursday before,” Bella says.

“Thanks. I’m glad you like it.”
