Finding my way to the door that led to the bathrooms, I left the loud music and crush of the club behind me. While I waited in line, I took the opportunity to breathe. The man who had tried to hit on me couldn’t be anything like Gil.Not everyone was a crazy stalker who tracked their girlfriend with an app. I shuddered at the memory.

As I exited the bathroom, ready to head back into the club, I bumped straight into Jase in the corridor. His dark gaze swept over me, and he went as if to walk past. I grabbed his arm. “Thank you for looking after me out there.”

He didn’t reply straight away but ran a hand through his hair, giving me a small smile. “I’ve been doing that a lot lately.”

I smiled back. “You have. And I appreciate it.”

His eyes fixed on me, pupils almost fully dilated to black. “How much?” The longest moment passed, and I thought Jase would walk away from me. Instead, he lifted his chin, a challenge in his eyes. In one swift move, he had me trapped flush to the wall with his body, mouth hovering inches from mine, leaning in so close, I got the scent of the whisky he’d been drinking. Without another word, his mouth crashed into mine, one hand sliding around the back of my neck, pulling me closer to him. His tongue explored my lips before dipping inside, and all I could think was how good it would feel if he was between my legs instead. I moaned into his mouth, squeezing my thighs together as I squirmed against him. Every inch of my body sparked a response to the feel of his lips on mine: my nipples tightened, skin tingled, warmth spread through my core, and even my knees buckled a little. I gave everything up for that kiss, wanting it to go on forever. No one had ever caused such a reaction with only their lips before. A gasp escaped me as Jase released me too soon, leaving me sagging against the wall and wanting more. His gaze raked the whole length of my body, licking his lips as if I was the most delicious thing he had ever consumed. If Ihadn’t already been completely aroused by what had happened, his intense scrutiny had my core clenching even more.

He dropped his head, shaking it from side to side and muttering under his breath so quietly, I couldn’t hear him. After a beat, he looked up and started to speak, but before he could say anything, Finn, Barney, and Liam burst into the corridor.

“There you are!”

“We wondered where you had gone.”

“More drinks are definitely needed!”

The moment between Jase and me was shattered.

Swallowing hard, I forced out a laugh. “I need to find Ella. She’ll be wondering where I am. Have fun, guys.” I gave them a little flutter of my fingers and headed back towards the main bar, still flustered by what had happened.

Ella hadn’t moved since before the guy had tried it on with me, still involved with her younger barman. I tapped her on the shoulder. When I didn’t get a response, I nudged her again. “Ella.”

Reluctantly, she drew back and stared at me, eyes glassy from too much fizz and kissing. “What’s up?”

“I think I’m going to head home. Will you be okay getting back to yours?”

“Oh, I don’t think I’m going back to mine tonight.” She giggled as the barman nuzzled her neck. “Or if I do, it won’t be alone. Let me know you got home safely, though.”

“Sure. Say goodbye to Lenora and the others for me.” I hadn’t finished speaking before she turned her attention back to the barman.

I weaved my way through the crowd into the foyer and went to get my coat. As I dug into my bag for my phone so I could book an Uber, it fell to thefloor.

“Can I get that for you?” Jase bent down and retrieved it, handing the device to me. “You’re leaving?”

“Mmm-hmm. I’ve had enough for tonight.”

“I’ll come with you. I don’t like to think of you going home on your own.”

The girl in the cloakroom passed me my jacket, and I slipped it on. “You don’t have to. I’m sure you have plenty of stag-night dares to get through, more women to kiss, that kind of thing.” I knew I was being unfair.

“Hollis, shut up. I’m taking you home. I told Finn I’d drunk too much and needed to get out of here.” He pulled his own phone from his back pocket and tapped the screen before turning it to me. “There. Our Uber will be here in five.”

The wait outside seemed interminable. When the car arrived, we sat in the back, keeping as much distance between us as possible, neither saying a word.

Once we got inside the house, I took off my jacket and hung it up by the front door, then headed for the stairs. “Night, Jase. Thanks for…” I didn’t know what I was thanking him for. Kissing me? Taking me home?

“Anytime, Hollis. You know that.” His gaze raked over me, lingering on my lips.

“Kiss me again, Jase,” I whispered.

He tipped my chin up with one finger, and I didn’t resist. I wasn’t capable.Dark pools stared down at me, a satisfied smile playing over his face. The tension killed me, my breaths coming harder the closer he got. Once his lips finally made contact, I wound my arms around him, feeling the whole of his body against mine. His other hand snaked around the back of my neck, holding me firmly, while his tongue explored the inside of my mouth. We moved together into the living room before Jase brokeoff long enough to settle on the sofa. I straddled him, knees either side of his thighs, my core gently resting on his hardening cock. Jase reached up, threading his hands through my hair, and pulled me towards him once more.

“You’re so fucking beautiful,” he breathed. “I want to savour this.”

He wasn’t the only one.

“You slayed me last night. That fucking T-shirt, the tease, the whole package. I wanted you so badly. I want you so badly.”
