Turning around, I showed him how the charms nestled in my cleavage, and I clasped the moon. “Thank you.”

Stepping away from the stall, we moved to one side, not even taking notice of the people milling around beside us.

“When things get tough on tour with Arlo, all you have to do is remember today.” Jordan held my gaze, staring deep into my soul. His hand reached for mine, his thumb stroking my knuckles. “Think of us, in this moment, and everything will be okay.”

And right then, I knew it would be, because I knew I loved Jordan again.

CHAPTER25

Jordan

“What the fuckis that hideous smell? Open a window, for fuck’s sake.” Levi stalked into the kitchen, waving his arms in front of him.

I scraped fruitlessly at the burnt mess in the bottom of the saucepan, which was meant to be Bolognese sauce. I’d got distracted by my socials and had let the pan boil almost dry. The acrid smell burned the inside of my nose. I clearly wasn’t cut out to be Gordon Ramsay.

“Why are you even cooking anyway? It’s a Thursday night.” Opening the window over the sink, Levi let some fresh air into the room, although I doubted it would be enough to mask the stench of burned tomatoes.

“I asked Lex over for dinner.”

He spun around to face me. “Sorry, what? Have I turned back time and we’re nineteen again?”

I gave him a sarcastic smile. “She’s off on tour tomorrow and I thought it would be a nice thing to do.”

Levi cocked an eyebrow. “And giving her food poisoning is the way you want her to remember you?”

“You’re a funny guy.” I dumped the saucepan in the sink and ran some hot water over it, although it was probably destined for the bin. “If you want to do something useful, can you make some suggestions as to what I can make for her?”

My bandmate thought for a moment, then gestured to the drawer. “There are takeaway menus in there.”

“Haha.” Although maybe he had a point. “You going to join us?”

“You mean it’s not a dreamy romantic date night?” Levi wrapped his arms around his body in a mock hug and made kissing sounds.

“Mate, she’s got to meet Arlo Carmichael at noon tomorrow.” Even that sentence was enough to make me vomit. The thought of her with him for the next two weeks constantly nagged at me.

“Yeah, that’s enough to cock block anyone.” Levi headed for the living room. “I’ll ask Jude and Robbie. I’m assuming the invite extends to all of us?”

“Of course.”

“And you’re paying?”

I shook my head. “Sure, if it keeps you off my back.”

He grinned. “Count us in then.”

After he’d gone, I pulled my phone out of the back pocket of my jeans. Although Lex had agreed to come over to the house, I hadn’t been explicit as to whether the rest of the guys would be there.

Jordan: Hey, are you okay with the others being here tonight?

Alexis: Why wouldn’t they be? I’m coming to your house.

Jordan: Because it was meant to be an evening for us…

Alexis: If it was all about us, you’d be coming to mine! It’ll be like old times. I’ll bring more beer.

Jordan: Oh, and I know I said I’d cook, but do you mind if it’s takeaway instead? There’s been a bit of a cooking incident…

Lex sent back a laughing emoji before saying she wouldn’t mind at all.
