Her fingers wrapped around the nape of my neck, pulling at my hair. “You bring it out in me.”
Taking Jaime over the bar was something I wouldn’t say no to, but she would have to wait. Much to my own disappointment as well.
“I’ll take you home,” I promised, pulling back. “You need a shower.”
“Want to help me with that?” She drew the corner of her lip into her mouth, and it was all I could do not to bend her over the nearest table and slam into her from behind. Instead, I slapped her ass, causing her to squeal. Hmm, I’d commit that to memory for another time too. “Maybe later.” I turned her around and gave her a gentle push in the direction of the back room. “Get dressed and we’ll head out. You can make me breakfast.”
After getting dressed and doing a cursory sweep of the bar, I made a temporary sign to say we’d be closed until that evening. Then I sent a message to the staff group, telling those who would have been working this afternoon to come in and help tidy up. Replies came back saying thanks, a couple with pictures of the aftermath of the storm, including one of a car with a tree crushing it. Thankfully, there hadn’t been anyone inside. For a freak Carolina storm, it seemed we’d gotten off lightly.
Half an hour later, we pulled up outside the Harlow residence. I had to admit, it felt strange going back there with Jaime instead of Cami. The house was in darkness, and I wondered if Cami was there or whether she was at her boyfriend’s place. I hoped for the latter.
Jaime turned her key in the lock, shushing me as we went inside. Kicking off my boots, I left them in the hallway and followed her upstairs, making sure not to lose sight of her and end up in the wrong room. Jaime’s bedroom was on the opposite end of the landing to her sister’s and was larger, also having an en suite. I guessed being the elder sibling had some benefits.
Dated wallpaper adorned the walls, and the whole place looked like it could benefit from a makeover. Given Jaime’s interior design skills, I was surprised she hadn’t tackled her own room as a project.
I settled myself on the bed, watching while Jaime peeled off her Dempsey’s t-shirt, revealing the black lacy bra I’d ripped off of her earlier. My fingers itched to do the same right now, but if I did that, we’d never get anything done. She wriggled out of her jeans, the matching panties on show. Seeing her in her underwear had my cock twitching again. Grabbing a pillow, I pulled it over my lap, hiding any evidence of my arousal.
“You could always come and help…” Jaime unhooked the bra, dangling it over one shoulder as she entered the bathroom.
“Temptress,” I growled, staying strong with my resolve to resist although nothing would please me more.
She giggled and shut the door behind her, the shower turning on within seconds.
With a heavy sigh, I pulled my phone out of my pocket, seeing an early morning message from Dad.
Dad:Did you get home last night? How’s the bar?
Wade:Weather was too bad to get home. I stayed.
Dad:Is everything okay?
Wade:Looks fine. Needs cleaning up after the game, but think we had a good night.
Dad:Let your mother know about the profits. She’ll be excited to hear how successful it was.
I’d done a till read last night before everything had kicked off and revenue was the healthiest it’d been in a long time.
Wade:Got it. Not opening up until tonight but come over this afternoon if you want.
Dad:No can do, going fishing with the guys. Catch up with you soon.
I grinned, glad that for once Dad was doing something that didn’t revolve around the bar. Probably about time I did something similar.
“Where the hell have you been all night, Jaime? I’ve been worried sick. You didn’t answer any of my messages.” Cami barreled into her sister’s room wearing an Abbott Ridge college football jersey and little else. She came to a halt the minute she clocked me, eyebrows shooting up. “What on earth areyoudoing here?”
“Nice to see you too, Cami.” I smirked.
“Seriously, what are you doing in my sister’s room?”
“I brought her home after work.”
Cami’s lips drew into a straight line. “She should have finished work at midnight. It’s now after six in the morning. What have you two been doing all this time?” She held up her hand, shaking her head. “No, on second thought, don’t answer that.”
I fought back a grin, definitely not wanting to share with Cami what Jaime and I had been doing.
“Ugh. Was it always a dream of yours to have two sisters?” Cami shuddered.
I couldn’t tell if she was joking, so I kept my response light.
