“Awesome.” I shot her a tight smile. “Can’t wait.”

She headed back into the waiting room and I waited a couple of minutes before following her. I didn’t want Mr. Cairney to think he was something major around here.

I strode out to the waiting room to welcome him and invite him back. My stride faltered as I laid eyes on the most perfect male specimen I’d seen in an awfully long time. Actually, make that ever. He wore jeans and an unbuttoned plaid shirt, thrown on over a t-shirt which clung to his muscular chest. He wasn’t Arnie muscled, more Channing Tatum. Taut biceps, no doubt honed from clinging onto a beast of a bike at a hundred miles an hour. Dark hair, chiseled features and the most extraordinary blue eyes, which were fixated on me. Desiree was right. It was a wonder I wasn’t drooling.

He was one of two guys in the waiting room and I deliberately looked between them.

“Jack Cairney?”

The other guy’s head snapped to the side, his jaw slack as he recognized the biker. “Hey, I saw your accident, buddy. Good to see you’re okay.”

Jack grunted as he hauled himself off his seat. It was then that I noticed the cane.

“Come with me,” I said, trying to keep my tone even. “We’ll get to know each other. I’ll assess your needs, and then we’ll get right to work.” I gave Jack my most professional smile. Behind him, I could see Desiree fanning herself and I stifled a grin. It was like high school all over again.

“I don’t need you to assess my needs,” he grumbled as he followed me towards the treatment room. “I need to you to get me back on a bike again. And out of this place.”

His breathing was a little labored as he struggled to keep up with me. I wished we could stop talking about needs because he was making me remember I had some. And they weren’t the type I should be thinking about while at work.

“Slow down,” he snapped. “I thought you were meant to make me better, not worse.”

“Of course.” I did as he asked, despite trying to hold my nerve.

Ciara was right.

He was ready to explode.
