“Where is she now? Has she gone home?”
It seemed almost farcical to Brody that he was about to pour his heart out to the woman who he’d been shagging on and off for who knew how long.
He nodded. “Yes. She wasn’t here on holiday though, not strictly speaking.” The whole story came tumbling out, including his conversation with Nic and how he’d stormed off without giving Olivia a chance to explain. As he spoke the words to Valentina, it struck him that he hadn’t exactly been reasonable or fair to Olivia. He’d been reacting based on his own feelings. Feelings that he wasn’t sure how to handle.
“You should talk to her. Explain how you feel, why you panicked.” Valentina’s dark eyes probed his, and he knew she’d identified the problem.
He was scared.
“I don’t want to speak to her over the phone.”
“Then go back to North Ridge or wherever she lives and sort things out. Because you won’t be able to move forward until you do.”
Brody stared at Valentina, almost incredulous. After everything they had shared, she was the one giving him advice on how to move his love life forward.
“Mateo is a very lucky man.”
Valentina’s mouth widened into a grin. “I think he knows that. And once you’ve put things to rights with Olivia, you’ll be a very lucky man too.”
