The timings of the project swam around in Olivia’s head. The Roca Bar had to be finished and then Brody would be working on The Indigo Lounge. Whatever had almost happened the night before, it was unlikely to develop into something more.

A switch flicked in Olivia’s brain.

She dumped her dirty breakfast dishes in the sink and set her laptop up on the table in the living room. A sense of calm settled over her as she logged on and opened her email. Perhaps getting back to some kind of routine would help her stop thinking about Brody. She worked for hours, catching up on the status of her clients, and messaging back and forth with Eva about things, even creating a couple of pitches for new clients.

When she finally looked up, it was late afternoon and she’d missed lunch.

The contents of the fridge didn’t hold much appeal and suddenly ravenous, she decided to head to the supermarket. Not bothering to change, she slid a pair of sunglasses on and made sure her bag was wrapped securely across her body; that was one part of the previous evening she didn’t want to repeat.

The afternoon heat hit her skin and she basked in the warmth as she walked along the road to Eroski. The name of the supermarket made her giggle. Once she’d got something for dinner, Olivia treated herself to an ice lolly.

She took a different route back to the apartment, the one that took her past The Roca Bar. She wasn’t sure whether it had been intentional, but she came to a halt at the door. From the noise coming from inside, there was definitely work going on. Maybe she should stop in to see Carlos after all.

She pushed open the door and stepped inside, the volume of the banging increasing.

The sight that met her eyes was one she hadn’t expected to see. There were at least a dozen men, all working. Those that weren’t putting down floorboards were painting, and it seemed that a lot of progress had been made again.

“Did you bring me one of those?” Brody appeared in the doorway that led to the office. “It sure is hot in here.”

His dark hair was sweaty, and he wore shorts and a vest top, both of which were covered in paint. There were a few smears of white across his forearms and calves. Olivia’s tongue trailed down the side of the lolly, as her insides melted in the same way.

“I thought you were in Palma.”

“I was. I got back just after lunch and figured the guys would need a hand here.” He walked towards her. “Carlos said you hadn’t been around, so what brings you here now?”

You,thought Olivia. You bring me here now. The thought of seeing you again was driving me crazy.“I worked at the apartment today. Then I needed some food.” She held up the carrier bag as an explanation. “It was on my way.”

Brody’s laugh was low and throaty as he reached her side. “It is so not on your way.” He gently touched her arm. “Are you okay after last night?”

Olivia nodded, suddenly incapable of speech. She looked down at her arm, wondering if Brody’s touch had actually burned her, that was how hot her skin felt.

“Good to hear.” He swooped in and licked the lolly. “Mmm, that’s good. Are you sure you didn’t get me one?”

This time Olivia shook her head in response. She didn’t know what was wrong with her. She couldn’t speak and if she did, she wasn’t sure what she would come out of her mouth.

“Why don’t you come through into the office? It’s cooler out there. You look a little flushed.”

He placed his palm in the small of her back, as he had done the previous evening, and gently propelled her into the other room. It was as messy as it had been yesterday, and Olivia suddenly remembered her promise to tidy it. Brody cleared a space on the desk and Olivia perched there, her legs swinging against the front.

“Are you sure you’re okay?” Brody asked again. “You must have been scared.”

Finally, Olivia found her voice. “I was. I wanted to say thank you for coming to my rescue.” She met his gaze, seeing his pupils dilate. “I guess that’s why I came over.”

Brody stepped towards her until he was close enough to be standing between her legs. He pushed in, the broadness of his frame spreading her thighs apart, and leaned on the desk, placing his hands either side of her, his forearms resting against her hips. “If you didn’t bring me an ice cream, I can think of another way for you to thank me.”

His lips hovered inches from hers and Olivia caught her breath. He smelled intoxicating; cologne, paint and white spirit.

The remains of the ice lolly fell from her hand as she wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him towards her. Their mouths crashed together hard, their tongues entwining. Brody’s right hand slid beneath her shorts, finding her slick core with ease and she bucked against him as he massaged her clit with his thumb, his rough skin increasing the sensations.

“Oh! Brody!” She cried, feeling him smile against her mouth as he continued his fevered caresses. Her skin was on fire as he brought her close to climax.

“I didn’t think you liked me.” He almost growled against her neck. “That sound you made makes me think otherwise.”

Caught up in the moment, Olivia didn’t think she’d ever felt so alive as she came, sitting on a dusty desk in a half-decorated bar, at the hands of an extremely sexy builder.
