“I needed to check on my baby first,” he says. The dam breaks yet again, setting more tears free.

He leans back a little, wiping the tears from my eyes. “How areyou?” he asks.

“I’m sore but so happy I don’t really care,” I say honestly.

He smiles, kissing my forehead. “Good. I’m so proud of you.”

We both take a deep breath. “Now, I can go see my beautiful granddaughter.”

“You haven’t even seen her yet. You don’t know that,” I say.

He looks at me from the foot of the bed. “She’s a part of you, so she’s going to be one of the two most beautiful things I’ve ever held in my arms.”

“Dammit, Dad,” I say swiping at my tears.

He gives me a warm smile before walking over to where Mom is sitting with Mia on the couch.

“So, does she have a name yet?” Mom asks.

“Mia,” Grayson says.

“She is absolutely a Mia,” Mom says, beaming down at her.

“Gram, look at the name card on the bassinet,” I say, pointing to where it stands right beside her.

She gives me a look like I’m crazy for asking her to do such a thing.

“Just do it, Louise,” Grayson says, trying not to laugh.

She glares at him, pointing her bony finger in his direction.

“Glad you said it and not me.” Tucker laughs.

Gram shakes her head, looking down at the card. “Mia Louise Briggs.” No jokes or jabs in sight when she locks eyes with me. “Really?”

“Yeah, Gram. I want her to live life the same way you always have. I want her to be just as strong, fearless, and brave as you are.”

She walks over, wrapping me in a hug. “I love you, Sienna.”

“I love you too.”

My family stays for another hour until we get the text that Hadley is on her way with Jackson.

Just as they’re about to leave, Jackson walks in. His messy brown hair is all over the place. Hadley walks in behind him, half out of breath.

“Sorry, he got away from me out there. He was really excited to get in here.” She laughs.

Jackson’s eyes dart from his dad to me and the baby in my arms. My heart melts when he steps toward me.

He stops at the edge of the bed, trying to lean up on his toes to see Mia.

I pat the bed next to me. “You can come up here.”

Warren helps him take off his shoes, then lifts him onto the bed. “Be gentle with Sienna. Okay?”

Jackson nods at his dad, snuggling into my side when I hold my arm out.

“Does that hurt?” he asks, looking up at me with his precious brown eyes just like his dad’s.
