She may have alternated between all of us throughout the evening, but she was with me the most because – and once more I was smug as shit for it – I could actually dance. Right now, her arms were around my neck, her back was to my front. Her ass was rubbing up against me in the best sort of way, and I was unable to think anything other than gleeful thoughts.

John was dead.

My girl was happy.

I was going to screw her in a filthy bathroom stall at some point soon.

The club pulsed with energy, lights flashing in a kaleidoscope of colors that washed over the crowd and made me dizzy. The bass thumped deep in my chest, syncing with my heartbeat, and for the first time in what felt like forever, I let go.

I concentrated on my girl, our victory, and that was it. There was nothing else in the world right now.

Sure, it felt a little surreal being here, surrounded by the noise and life, after everything we’d been through and the fact that Cassie was still out there. A part of me didn’t know how toturn off the fight-or-flight reflex that had been keeping us alive for so long, so any time someone so much as looked her way, I glared hard enough to terrify them.

So did Lincoln, Kody, PriceandMisha.

But other than that, right here, right now, with the music blaring and the drinks flowing, it was easy to let go of who we were and what we were doing and have fun. We were young adults doing young adult things. We were nobody important, doing reckless things for the sake of it.

Shots. Cocktails. Beer. Too much, too often.

A few shared joints in the beer garden passed around with giggles and flirty smiles.

Even a small fight with a group of strangers, for no reason other than they looked at Sapphire far too long and she’d run her pretty mouth as she had every right to. They’d been rude back and instead of letting things slide. Or being sensible and mature and whatever the hell else we were supposed to be, we just started a brawl.

Kody went first. Lincoln followed him. Misha had then been shoved by one guy, so Price had retaliated by knocking him out and then moving onto another two punks. Sapphire had laughed and started kissing Misha so I’d jumped into the fight for the sake of it, and that was that.

Violence and fun and adrenaline. Nothing but that burning through my veins until, at some point, when the man beneath me was no longer fighting back, Sapphire paused her kissing and grabbed my arm.

I pulled back, panting hard, eyes wide. Part of me expected her to yell. To tell me off for being violent and not the sort of guy I usually was. The rest of me was eager to carry on ruining the world because she kissed me hard for a second before she whispered in my ear, “Take me to a bathroom. Now.”

She took a single second to throw a wad of bills at the two doormen, who hurried to take our victims outside and leave us be. But before the door had even swung shut behind them, we were falling through the dull, tiled bathroom, ignoring everything else in the world as we kissed our way to the nearest empty counter space.

There was a single thought in my brain about getting rid of witnesses, but I needn’t have worried. The rest of the guys followed, and any lingering clubbers were promptly removed, before Lincoln and Kody stood guard at the door, laughing between themselves and comparing their busted fists like trophies. Price and Misha started making out too and I wondered just how much we’d all get away with before someone told us off.

Then I wondered if I gave a damn when my girl hurried to roll her dress up over her ass and slid her thong off before she stuffed it into my jean pocket.

“Sit.” Sapphire ordered, as she pushed me onto the counter, and I ignored how sticky the gray stone was. “Why did you wear a belt? They are so…” she huffed as she hurried to undo my belt with her mildly shaking hands. “This is ridiculous,mi sol. You need to be naked.”

The fact she was too drunk to get the buckle made me giggle, but it was fine. Price took a second to breathe and rolled his eyes as he did it for her in a single move.

“You’re welcome, bro.” He smirked at me before he went back to kissing Misha, the pair just as wasted as the rest of us and enjoying the music blasting through the speakers.

“Want me to warm her up before you get your two pumps in?” Lincoln chimed in with a snigger.

“You can fuck off and wait until I’m done.” I grinned as I yanked Sapphire down, sliding myself inside her with a singlethrust. “I think you need to see how a real man fucks a goddess like our girl. She looks like she’s bored with you.”

His laughter quickly died and turned to curses when Sapphire starting grinding on me, her nails digging into my shoulders. Her perfume was intoxicating, and I pulled her closer, her body warm and soft against mine. I kissed her like I’d been dying to for decades.

Like she was an air, and I was drowning.

God, she tasted like sweet tequila and something else I couldn’t quite place—something intoxicating and perfect and so,soSapphire. I was dizzy, not just from the drinks, but from her, from everything. My head was spinning, but I didn’t care. I just wanted more of her, wanted to lose myself in her laugh, her lips, the way her fingers dug into my flesh like she never wanted to let go.

I may have been drunk, but I knew I was happy. I knew I was in love. It was like she’d wrapped herself around my heart and squeezed tight, and I was helpless, happy to be at her mercy. Every time she looked at me with those bright, clever eyes of hers, it felt like a sucker punch right to my chest, like, shit, how did I get so lucky?

I broke the kiss for a second, just to catch my breath, but all I could do was stare at her, grinning like an idiot as she kept rolling her hips and fucking me nice and slow.

“You’re so beautiful, you know that?” I slurred, and then laughed, because, duh, of course she knew. She had to know she was perfect.

For me, for us. In general.
