“For what?”
“A sign.”
“What kind of sign?” she asked, hoping he’d pick up where he left off.
Ra kept looking down into her eyes, her face cradled in his hands.
Azi, growing ever impatient, leaned toward him, her mouth reaching for his as her hands at his waist pulled him near.
Ra grinned as she kissed him. “That kind of sign,” he whispered as he lifted her in his arms and carried her back to the living room.
Chapter 10
Ra gently set Azi on the sofa in the living room, coming down on his knees beside her. They locked eyes again as his fingertips stroked just under the sleeve of her shirt. It was important to him that she willingly take off her clothes and offer herself to him. There would be none of him influencing her to do anything she didn’t want to do. Not only for the prophecy, but because he’d been telling her the truth. This thing between them, whatever it was, wasn’t about the prophecy. It was about her. He’d realized that when he’d noticed the man speaking with her in the clothing store, then when he’d seen the men in the restaurant showing an interest in her. It angered him like nothing ever had. She was his and there was no way in this world or the next that he’d allow anyone to take her attentions from him. Was she aware of his intentions? Did she realize he’d claimed her? Probably not, but tonight would change all that.
“What are you waiting for?” she asked.
“You to choose this.”
“What exactly is, this?” she asked.
Ra smiled at her, leaned forward and kissed her gently, then rose to his feet, preparing to leave her and go upstairs.
“Wait a minute! What just happened?” Azi asked.
“I don’t have an answer. It’s not fair to ask you to agree to something when I don’t know what you’re agreeing to. I honestly do not know if I’ll still be here tomorrow. If I am, will I be human, or returned to my original self? Will I be returned to the temple for eternity? Will I remain, but forget who I am? I have no answers and it was wrong of me to proceed as though I do.”
Azi held his gaze as her fingers curled under the hem of her shirt. In one motion she lifted it up and over her head, tossing it away.
Ra’s eyes widened as he looked down at her, nostrils flaring.
“If there was any doubt of me being aware of exactly where I stand, let me make it clear for you, I’m all in. I want this to happen. I need this to happen. Give me this, Ra.”
Ra looked hesitantly at her, every nerve ending in his body insisting he reach for her.
“If you’re gone tomorrow, I don’t want to regret not doing this.”
Ra wasted not another moment. He smashed his mouth against hers, kissing her deeply, teasing her tongue, nibbling her lips as he pushed her to the side and laid her down before he rose up again and began removing her shorts.
Azi helped, not wanting to put off the obvious any longer than it took her to get her clothes off. When finally she was naked, she quickly sat up and grabbed the waist band of his shorts, unbuttoning them and yanking them down his legs.
Ra looked down at his naked body, with his shorts pooled around his ankles and started laughing.
Azi got tickled at him finding the whole thing funny and started laughing, too. She took his hands in hers and lay back, pulling him with her, laughing more when he paused long enough to kick his shorts away from where they tangled on one foot.
“There is one thing you need to know,” Ra said.
“What’s that?”
“I don’t know how this will be. I’m in a human body. I don’t know how this body will perform.”
“Then you’d best get busy while you have the energy to do your best.”
Ra grinned at her and started kissing his way down her body. He nuzzled her small breasts, suckling them like he expected them to feed him, while she rocked her hips against his, anxious to have him inside her.
He raised his head to kiss her again, then started to push himself down her body but Azi stopped him. “Wait! I know what you’re planning to do, but honestly, if we could just get to it, that’d be great. I mean, I want all the other stuff, too, but it’s been a long, long time and I really need the main show if you know what I mean. We can get back to the rest right after.”
Ra laughed again, smiling as he pressed his lips against hers once more. “I love that part of you.”
