Calantha grabs my hand, forcing me to stop and look at her. “Don’t you dare give up now, Lily. Wearegoing to find you a dress, and wewillpay off the mountains of debt you’ve tried to hide from me. So what if we’ve failed so far at finding an outfit? It doesn’t mean we give up. We never give up.”

I stare at her with equal parts pride and awe in my gaze. She’s right. Again. “How can you be wise and hungover at the same time?”

“It’s a gift, I know. Now let’s go find you a dress that’ll knock your bosses’ socks off.”

“Aren’t you going to be uncomfortable in that skirt today?” Calantha asks me as we ride the subway to work the following day.

“What do you mean?” I tug on the hem to make sure it’s covering enough to be work appropriate. Sure, did wearing skirts cause me to daydream about the easy access my two bosses could have? Yes. But there’s no way in hell I’d act on it. Those fantasies would live completely rent free in my head and only come out to play when I was alone with my favorite vibrator.

“Isn’t today the day you’re traveling with Aiden? You sure as hell wouldn’t catch me wearing a skirt for a road trip with my hot boss. Not unless we were getting it on in the backseat.” She winks at me.

I cringe, rubbing my palm against my chest. “Shit. I completely forgot that was today.”Note to self: keep a change of unflattering clothes at work.

Calantha laughs, the glint in her eyes telling me everything I need to know about what she’s thinking. “Oh, it’ll be fine, Lily. It’s about time you made him sweat a bit anyway.”

It’s not him I need to worry about. My thoughts churn for the rest of the ride to work, and the next thing I know, Calantha and I are parting ways.

“Good luck,” she shouts, blowing me a kiss.

I send her a half-hearted wave, my mind still racing. I can’t quite seem to get out of my own head. Would he be driving, or would we be in the back seat together? Fuck. What if I flashed him my coochie when I got out of the car? I bury my head in my hands as I try to think up a solution.

“Lily. Are you okay?”

I jolt and look up to find myself practically on top of Kaleb.

“Oh God, I’m so sorry,” I tell him, wincing as I fiddle with the collar of my shirt. Warmth seeps through my blouse from where his hands are, where he physically had to stop me from running into him. I step back and he drops them, though the concern doesn’t leave his face.

“Is everything okay?” He glances past me to the street, like he might find someone pursuing me.

“I’m fine, truly,” I tell him, pasting a smile on my face and reaching behind him to open the door.

He eyes me skeptically. “Are you sure?”

“I’m sure. Honestly, it’s silly. I forgot about the trip with Aiden today and regret wearing a skirt. I was caught up in my head trying to find a way around it in the future.” We reach the elevator and Kaleb scans his card while I press the button for our floor.

Why the hell did I just tell him that? What is it about these men that makes me open up so much? Dammit.

At my words, his tense shoulders visibly relax. He peers down at the bag slung over his shoulder when a smile crosses his supple lips. “I’ve got a spare pair of sweats you could wear, though it might not go with that pretty top.”

A surprised laugh bursts free of my lips as I picture it. “You know, I might have to take you up on that someday.” Something coils deep in the pit of my stomach at the idea of wearing his clothes, and my mind quickly shifts to him pulling them off ofme.Get a grip, Lily. You might have two sexy as fuck bosses, but that doesn’t mean you can have them both.

The elevator doors close and he turns toward me. “Did you know that my penis was in the Guinness Book of World Records?”

“What?” I ask, laughing.

“Yup. But then the librarian asked me to take it out.”

All of my problems vanish as I dissolve into laughter. Kaleb can always tell when I’m caught up in my own head, like he has a sixth sense or something. Not that I’m complaining. I welcome his brand of distraction. It’s no surprise that when we exit the elevator onto the twenty-fifth floor, I’m laughing my ass off.

Isn’t it funny how jokes work? Sometimes it’s the worst ones, the ones that are so dumb and predictable, that make us laugh the most, and Kaleb has an arsenal of them.

“Thanks for the comedy, as always,” I tell Kaleb as we reach my desk. I don’t see Aiden yet, so I sit down to work through a few emails before we leave. Sure, I could do that on the car ride, but reading anything in a moving vehicle always makes my stomach queasy.I’ll just have to find some other way to occupy myself in the car…

And just like that, I’m back to worrying about what will happen between Aiden and me in a tight space. Like a magician, he appears beside me as if summoned by my very thoughts. Thankfully, he doesn’t seem to have actually seen the naughty images that crossed my mind. This isn’t a book, Lil, and he’s not some Fae prince with the ability to read minds.

“Are you ready, Liliana?” His soft, breathy voice catapults me back to the very first night we met.

I swallow once, then twice, before I finally manage to speak. “I’m ready.
