Would I even know what to do if I ever saw them again? Probably not. Half the reason I did okay at the club was because I knew it was a one night thing. No expectations. No judgment. And no pressure.
No. I couldn’t think about that. Regardless of the aches in my body serving as a constant reminder of the incredible, passion-filled night I just had, I had to focus on making a good impression at my new job tomorrow.
My newly awakened libido could wait.
Kaleb
The events of Saturday night are ingrained in my mind, playing on repeat ever since we left the club.
Liliana Sinclair was more than we could have expected, and despite the sexual nature of our interactions that night, I was wholly convinced she’s exactly what we need at our company.
Smart and determined, with a shyness that only added to her charm. I couldn’t wait to be near her again, to get to know her with her clothes on and find out more about her.
She was an enigma wrapped up in a cloud of doubt, and all I wanted to do was clear it for her. I wanted her to see what I could already tell was behind that fear and doubt; a confident, capable woman.
It was insane to think I knew someone so well after such little time spent together, even more so when the majority of that time had been without words, but the connection I felt to her was deeper than I’d felt with anyone else in years.
Whatever terrible thing happened in her past, those demons had a firm grip on her, but after being with us, I caught a glimpseof who she is without them. Aiden and I got past her defenses and watched her blossom into one incredible fucking creature.
I just hope to fuck today goes smoothly. When she realizes that Aiden and Wes are the same person, how will she react? Will she somehow put the pieces together and figure out that I was Fitz? Fuck. There were too many unanswered questions and variables for my liking. I wanted to punch Aiden for risking everything by going off script and putting us in this position.
With only ten minutes before she’s set to arrive, I try to focus on my emails instead of the million questions flying through my mind. If all I focused on was the bad shit, surely it would find me. There was no point worrying about things beyond my control anyway, or at least that’s what I try to tell myself.
The phone on my desk rings the usual tone for reception, and as I answer, my heart rate picks up.
“Yes?”
“Mr. Fitzgerald, you have a visitor in the lobby. Shall I send her up?”
“Sure. Thanks, Pam.”
Heading toward the elevators, I straighten my tie and wait for what feels like an entire hour before the elevator finally reaches the twenty-fifth floor. The doors open, and out walks the stunning woman from Saturday night, except this time, she’s wearing a matching skirt and blazer combo that drives me fucking wild. Shit, shit, shit. My dick grows hard in my slacks, and that’s the last goddamn thing I need right now.Come on, Kaleb. Get it together!
“Ah, Liliana. So great to see you again.”
“Likewise, Mr. Fitzgerald.” The smile she gives me sends my heart into overdrive. Fuck. I wonder what this moment would have been like if Aiden and I hadn’t spent the night ravishing her curvaceous body.
“Please, call me Kaleb. As it’s your first day, we’ll start off slow. I’ll give you a quick tour of this floor so you know where the kitchen and bathrooms are, then there’s, unfortunately, a slew of paperwork from Human Resources that you’ll have to go through. We’ll do a full tour later this afternoon, and Aiden should be back by then as well. Sound good?”
“Sounds perfect.”
We walk past several offices, and I give a brief overview of the floor as we go. “This floor is mostly for high-level executives and directors. On the lower floors is where you’ll find HR, Accounting, IT, and our other departments. You’ll get to meet everyone later this week, but hopefully you’ll feel right at home.”
She nods but doesn’t look at me, too busy scanning the offices we pass and making note of who sits where.
“Here’s the kitchen where you can keep your lunch. There are tables set up along the windows if you don’t want to eat at your desk and a coffee machine over there.” I lean in close and lower my voice conspiratorially. “We’ve got an espresso machine near our offices though, which makes significantly better coffee. You’re welcome to use that one as often as you’d like.”
She places her hand on her chest, feigning a swoon. “You had me at ‘espresso’.”
I chuckle, leading us away from the kitchens, down the hall, and past the bathrooms before entering the area where Aiden and I do most of our work when we’re in the office.
“This is your desk. Aiden and I share this office, though we end up traveling quite a bit. As I mentioned in the interview, sometimes you may need to travel with us, but all company travel is fully paid for, and we’ll do our best to provide you with plenty of notice.”
She places her bag on the floor and runs her hands along the desk, beaming. “Wow, I’m in awe of your building.” Her eyesglance behind her desk to the espresso machine, and I lead her over.
“Have you ever used one?”
“My last job only had a machine with the pods, so I’m way out of my league here.” A beautiful rosy blush spreads across her face, reminding me of just how shy she was on Saturday night, even after she opened up to us.
