That made him pause. “You know who I am?”
She looked a little flustered at his direct question. “Well, I figured… It really isn’t much of a deduction. You’re Cade Sheffield, aren’t you?”
“What gave me away?” he asked tersely, fighting an impulse to glance at his shirt to see if he was still in the uniform with the regulation name tape on full display.
She cocked her head. “You look a lot like Dan. And I know you aren’t Ross or Alex. So, you see, not a difficult conclusion.”
Dan? Something wasn’t right with her response. “You may know my name, but we weren’t introduced…” He left the sentence unfinished.
“Oh, sorry.” She quickly moved the glass to her left hand and stuck her right one out. “I’m Coco. Dan invited me here. That is, he and I are together.”
