‘Yeah, and my grandfather. We all lived together while I was growing up. How about you with your mom?’

‘I’m close with my dad,’ I sidestepped. ‘And my older sister. Dad’ll be spending Christmas with my sister and her wife, as my sister will be only a month or so away from popping. From being pregnant, I mean, in case that’s a very British thing to say!’

‘Will you miss being home over Christmas?’

‘No,’ I answered, truthfully. ‘I think being out here will be a really new experience. I’ve never been to Finland before, let alone Lapland. Did you say you hadn’t been before either?’

‘Nope. But it seems pretty good so far,’ he grinned.

‘I think we’re heading back to Santa Claus Village, Daan said.’

‘Oh. Good. That’s great.’ I sipped on my coffee and gazed back out of the window. ‘Ten weeks,’ I said.

‘What’s that?’

‘Ten weeks here in the Arctic Circle. Do you think we’ll make it?’

Although Josh answered with a confident, ‘Sure,’ I think I was asking myself, more than him.
